Get Windows 2008 Standard FE?

Hello

One of our customers recently their RAID array fails and we need to reinstall the operating system. The system has a CoA OEM for Windows Server 2008 Standard FE (Foundation Edition), but we have not all discs.

Given that FE is OEM, it's probably like pulling teeth getting a copy of the software, but I'm curious to know if it is possible to do.

All comments (and quickly) would be extremely useful.

Thank you!

Contact Dell Support. It is unlikely that they filter replacement for her. OEM media will pop up from time to time on eBay, but Foundation is not very common, so you won't find it here. MSDN is probably the only place where you will find media for her... crazy, it would be cheaper to buy a new OS.

  • ColdFusion will not install on a Windows 2008 Standard Server for IIS 7.0 running in VMWare.

In the final step "Configure Web servers/websites", he complains that - "cannot configure IIS Connector. Select the required options, ASP.NET, CGI... ».  But, ASP.NET, CGI, and ISAPI all connectors are installed and configured.  We installed Coldfusion on more than 40 servers, since version 7 to 11 and that you have not seen this problem before.

    Hi Jim,.

You get this error only if the IIS features above are not installed. I'm sure you launch the web as an administrator, even though server configuration tool that shouldn't contribute.

Can you take a screen shot for these IIS features and share.

What do I need to confirm is not this error or what means caution as drive 0 / real 1 failed in the matrix raid - Yes or No

Second question is, does somehow to the Raid Controller's battery?

Which means that if the battery went wrong the error above does not reflect that the error above reflect only that the drive itself is dead battery...

  • Windows 2008 Server Standard not install KB3099860 with error code 8000FFFF

    Hello

I look after 3 x Windows 2008 Standard Edition servers. Two of them to date very well and are up to date with updates. One of them however, which is identical in hardware to either of the other two and even fewer programs (we use it as a simple file server), fails on the last update released December 2015:

KB3099860 a security update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 in Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2: 8 December 2015

I tried a variety of things after having studied the problem these past few days, including:

1 Uninstalling some updates before this one and see if they re - install. They are all re - install fine until I get to it where it fails with 8000FFFF error code so this leads me to believe that this is not in itself a problem with updates

    2. manually and also linking this Microsoft 'fixit': http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/windows-update-error-8000ffff

    3. how to install the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Server 2008 that installs but does not report errors

    4. manually by downloading the fix and trying to install - does not work.

    5. all the details here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/ae6e81e9-5c49-4826-89bc-04a676992706/error-8000ffff-windows-server-2008?forum=winservergen

including rename them the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution Windows Update and giving of right on drive C for "Network Services" - still does not work.

    6. as it is associated .NET I tried to repair .NET facilities that exist on the server (2, 3, 3.5 and and re-apply updates, but even once, fails on it.)

So, what should I do now? The behavior may suggest that it is that only this particular associate .NET that is a failure and that future ones will work, but it's "critical" and which relates to the .NET version which is initrinsic to the Windows 2008 operating system I think I should get it fixed :)

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you

  • 64-bit Windows 2008 server host ESX3i

have a special service that is its own LAN being created.  Completely isolated from the rest of our VI3 infrastructure.   The Department has a host of Dell 32 bit and bought a 64-bit host.   They put on 64-bit host Windows 2008 Standard and that you want to install ESX3i on their 32-bit host because it has 16 GB of memory and the 600 GB drive.   They do not want to spend a lot of money, but it takes a business continuity solution.  Their idea is: use the 32-bit host as a host VMware ESX3i and clone the Windows Server 2008 64-bit as a VM on the 32-bit host ESX3i.  They will do it on a regular basis.  However, there is another idea which they are seized - to buy a license to protect Platespin and perform conversion to protect from the physical server 64-bit to host 32-bit ESX3i on a regular basis (am said that this is possible through PlateSpin).

Apart from the possibility of Platespin, the real question is: a 64-bit Windows 2008 host can be cloned as a virtual machine to a 32-bit host ESX3i?  If so, this may be a solution for them.

ESXi can be installed on a x 32 hardware host little but if you need to virtualize x 64 virtual clients, then your material must be x 64 bit compatible.  I'm curious to know if this Platespin product would mask the x 64 requirements that would be cool.  You have to confirm with Platespin sales about your situation before that you want to allow?
