Getting started (Windows 8) I get the error message "Reboot and select good Boot Device."

This problem just started a few days ago.

I hold the SHIFT key I press Restart, that will get you into the repair environment - then try the "automatic repair" you will find.   It used to be called Startup Repair.

  • Keep having the message "Reboot and select good boot device ', but seems that there is a work around

I've read other posts on this message in the community, but think that mine is in a different situation.

A week ago, I started having this error message when I booted my PC (win8, 64-bit). Fortunately, I have the new bootable USB key. After that I tried everything I could think, (restore and refresh), this message always shows up when I start the PC. So I decided to do a complete reset to factory with the option State "delete all data".

I was able to complete the procedure. However, I see new things,

If I restart the PC, I can boot in normal mode, without the error message.

If I turn off the PC, then turn on again, the error message is back. I found that there is something for the workaround. When the system boots, I hit 'ESC' key and 'remove' to go to the bios interface, go to the 'boot' page, change the order of boot on USB, then change it back to hard drive (so in fact that there is no change), press F10 to save and exit. Then, I can boot into normal system.

Why is this? Anyone can help with this problem?

    Kind regards

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, I understand that you get an error message when you work on your computer.

This could happen because of changes made to your computer.

I would like to know some information.

    1. What is the brand and model of your computer?
    2. Have you changed boot priority on hard drive?
    3. Did you change your computer before this problem?

This problem may occur if your hard drive is not detected in the BIOS as first boot priority. You can go to the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)and change the boot drive order so that the hard drive comes first as a boot priority. You should be able to start Windows normally after you save it in this configuration.

If you would like more information on the BIOS settings, consult the computer manual or contact the manufacturer for more information.

Note: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

I hope this helps. Please let us know the results. We will be happy to help you further.

seem to have accidentally deleted the data on the disk.

I have now repeatedly received the error message "Reboot and select proper boot device."

I tried the F12 approach to , but my Start Menu does not have this option.

I'm frustrated that the new laptop played if bad, given that I have had Toshiba devices for about 10 years.
In addition, I am disappointed that potentially serious consequences to remove the drive were clearly deprecated for me, before you start.

    Please give us a solution.
The laptop is 4 months old.

In addition, how can I start the process of an application under my warranty?
A dissatisfied customer of experience to date.

    Kind regards

    CGI

I seem to have accidentally deleted the data on the disk.

Obviously the HARD drive recovery procedure is not possible now because the HARD drive recovery files have been deleted.

I guess you have not created such recovery media as recommended in the user's manual.

Well, in this case, you have a chance to order a missing middle of recovery and recover the laptop to factory condition.

Means of recovery can be ordered here:

  • Reboot and select good Boot Device problem - my PC does not start!

    Hi all

Whenever I turn on my computer I get the message "Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key.

I checked the diagonistics material and these are the results:

    Test CPU-

Hard drive: failure of the connection Test - Error Code: BIOHD1

    Memory - past

I don't think that the issue is a faulty connection. My reason to believe so because I think that I had a virus on my computer (I was not able to confirm) I tried to delete the last time I was able to use the computer. Then I turned off the computer to restart, but unfortunately, that's when I got this error message.

I had this problem once before (about 3 years ago) and I was not able to solve this problem, so I just stopped using the PC. Then one day my Dad turned on the computer (a few months later) and it worked all of a sudden.

Anyone know what this problem is? How can I solve this problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you very much for your time and effort!

    Additional information:

It was originally a windows 7 PC, but I have upgraded to windows 10, which is the current operating system.

    Product: HP p6620f

I managed to start my PC again.

I have unplugged all connections and left it that way for about 24 hours. Then I plugged everything back in and all of a sudden the PC worked again. I don't know if it will last, but right now it works.

I'll write another post if something changes.

This has happened before and it was solved by ctr-alt-del and F12 to get into the BIOS where the date went back to some time in 2010 - after put so far and to change the boot device, everything worked fine... until the next day.

Now I get the screen "reboot and select good boot device ', but the F12 key does not; I also tried F2... the message keep multiplying, no BIOS...
    Help, please!

In some cases the BIOS is only accessible by pressing the button turn off force on the lower side of the unit.

  • How do I repair: windows7 error reboot and select proper boot device?

My computer is about 2 years old.  Sound works just fine.  One morning, I started it up and a black screen came with: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.  Any key you hit it just kept announces the same message, I had to tough out.  As long as I start the computer with Del, F8 or F10, I can get the computer to boot. No matter what I change, it works for a few times then goes back to the same error.  Also it will not always wake up after he falls asleep.  I tried to do a repair of systems, but it does not work

    Hello

1 do you have made no changes to software before this problem?

    2. you have the Windows 7 installation disc?

    3. what changes did you and have you been able to boot to the desktop after that?

    Method 1:

I also suggest you to try the other options of WINRE (Windows Recovery Environment) and check.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7

    Method 2:

I also suggest you to check the drive for errors that it can cause a Windows to boot.

Follow this step to do the same thing:

    1. Click Start
    2. Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD-> click on "Run as Administrator"
    3. At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

Note: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

The issue can also occur if the boot device is not correctly defined in the BIOS. Make sure that the hard drive where Windows is installed is selected as first boot device.

Note: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • HP Pavilion p6204y Error Message - «Reboot and Select...» »

I get this message only when I use my Western Digital WD7502AAEX 750 GB hard drive.  I have run chkdsk, WD, CrystalDisk diagnosis, whatever you can imagine.  I went into the BIOS and made sure that this drive is the first boot device.  When I install Windows 7, I use the ESC key to select the DVD player as a punctual start only to start the installation process.  I don't have this problem with my Western Digital WD20EARS 2 TB hard drive.  Is there something with the 750 GB drive I have to do (riders, etc.) to solve the problem with this error message?  I noticed in the BIOS that the hard drive controller mode has been defined RAID even if I don't than one hard drive in the computer at the same time (either the WD7502AAEX or the WD20EARS, but never both at the same time).  Is the default setting for my computer out of the factory RAID?  Four days after I installed the WD7502AAEX, I installed a new sound card of the computer.  Maybe if the RAID is not the default setting, the installation of the sound card has caused the setting to change?  The original in the PC hard disk had a score of 3.0 Gb/s transfer, while the news is 6.0.  This may cause the problem?  Help!

    Hello:

The default setting for your PC would be the best RAID setting.

There are no jumpers to change on the disc or the motherboard.

I had the same problem with a HP dc7800 with the WD Caviar Black 500 6.0 GB/s drive and the Q35 chipset.

I could install W7 on it, but on reboot, the BIOS reports no disk.

I couldn't understand it.  I took the Seagate 1 TB 6.0 GBPS drive on my HP 8200 Elite and put it in the dc7800, and it worked perfectly fine since.

I put the WD Caviar Black 500 GB drive in my 8200 Elite and it worked perfectly as well.

I have to this day, no idea why this has happened.

You can change the IDE BIOS and see if it works, but that will slightly degrade the performance of your hard drive.
