Ghost of SSID wireless

I post a picture of Inssider 3, but I can't find the info to do it.  I have a schooner SSID exactly as my named SSID.  It has the same signal strength, data download.  The only difference is the Mac address.  The SSID legit begins with C8 and ends with 51.  The mac address of ghosts begins with CA and ends with 53.  All the intermediate characters are the same.  I have deleted profiles, etc., but couldn't find what is the cause.  Someone has an idea?  Everything seems to work very well.  I unplugged my router gateway, so I know it's from my main router.

One thing that might be a clue: I recently did a reset on my main router and was a typo in the name of the SSID.  Later, I changed the SSID of the router WiFI Smart.  I had deleted the wrong profile using back.  However, in the case of Smart WIFI, I saw that the wrong SSID in the list of devices.  I edited and changed, but cannot delete from there.  He also appeared in the Manager devices to display network infrastructure devices.  I continue to remove it, but it comes back.  Do I have to reset my router again?

Forget the network does not work in Windows 8. I guess that is your problem and you can safely ignore it.

Another possibility is that someone created an Ad - Hoc network, but you can always ignore it and not connect to it.

There is a double "other network" always visible on my Windows 7 x 64 laptop (when my wireless is enabled). It seems to be the same non-broadcast SSID wireless network that I'm already logged in. I can select "Other network" and then enter the key WEP and SSID for the network that I am connected, and it connects... but only for "Other network" reappear.

If you have the time (and inclination), you could start completely from scratch. Reset the router to the factory settings, create a network different name (SSID) and the key wireless using Ethernet cable. Then, configure wireless computers.

  • HP C4780: invalid SSID wireless?

    Hello

I have a wireless network (cable modem + wireless router) in my apartment called "lions & lambs."

However, when you install the HP C4780 drivers on my mac tonight, the printer scanned for nearby networks and found one called "lionslambs" with a very high signal strength. Unfortunately, he couldn't connect to it.

I checked the option to manually enter an SSID, so I typed in "lions & lambs" but the printer could not find.

Finally, I changed my SSID to 'lionslambs' and the printer has BEEN able to connect to it.

is there something wrong with the sign '&' the SSID? or is this a bug in the printer? is that what I can do here?

    Thank you.

The & character is perfectly legal for the SSID.  There could be a problem with our SW.  I'll go the team about this bug.

Is there another way to change the SSID on the printer.  Here's how:

    1. Web page access internal printer (by accessing the IP address of the printer).
    2. In the printer web page, select set by network, then wireless (802.11)
    3. Select Advanced
    4. Change the SSID.  Click on apply

My photosmart 7520 worked well until a few days ago.  It has stopped printing.  Wireless test report I am not connected.  I tried the wizard wireless set up to get reconnected but my wireless router number has disappeared from the list.  I typed it in manually but it won't.   Anyone know how I can print again?

    Hi @msibrox,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that your HP Photosmart 7520 will not connect wireless to your Windows 7 computer. I'm happy to discuss this issue for you!

I would say to begin with a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a hard reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the power cable from the printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector. Questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power. This is true for printers and ink jet.

I would also like to cycle power to the router. (With the router, unplug the power cable, wait 30 seconds and plug it back.) Wait for the lights to come back and try to connect to the printer again. Installation of the wireless printer.

If it still does not work, print a Network Setup page. Print a Network Configuration Page, let me know if something falls down, and the number of disconnects.

I hope hear from you soon!

    Hi @divot71,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you want to disable the SSID wireless with your printer HP Envy 5660. I'm happy to help you!

If the wireless function is set to off, the only other function I can think. Is to disable direct wireless as well. According to this guide, printing with a Wi-Fi Direct, she says: most HP printers wireless released in late 2014 and later support Wi - Fi Direct. Printers compatible with touchscreen control panels have a Wi - Fi Direct icon (). If your printer control panel does not have the icon, go to the menu of the Network Configuration or the wireless settings and confirm if an item of menu Wi - Fi Direct is displayed.

I hope that solves your problem!

  • remove the old/renamed wireless ssid

Hi, I renamed my SSID wireless (on my router) but my computers windows 8 keep showing the ssid again and the former (which causes the wifi connection back periodically to the 'limited' maybe / without an Internet connection).  (1 is an ACER Aspire V5 - 571P with preinstalled win8; the other is a dell inspiron 6400, upgrade of xp - not win8 course it is drops to limited connectivity.)

My windows 7 and linux computers only see the new ssid (and I have not observed the WiFi turning to 'limited').
Is there any solution for this?  Better, I see right now is a little drastic - reinstall os from scratch.  I could also reset the router to factory State and begin again at the end, but I suspect I'll just add a third ssid on windows machines 8 and make things worse.

Re the wifi connection periodically a limited fall - the really annoying thing - is there a known independent issue around this or is it likely that the two problems are related.  (I've seen a few reports on this issue and other forums of wifi trouble with similar models from acer).

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

    Thank you for the update.

I suggest you upgrade the firmware on the router and check.

If the problem persists, then I suggest you to remove the network profile of the registry and check. Navigate to the following location in the registry to do so.

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles

Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Follow these steps to resume and restore the registry.

    a. go to start and type regedit.

    b. Select regedit and then right click on the screen.

    c. click on run as administrator.

    d. find and click on the key or the subkey that you want to back up.

    e. click on the file menu and then click export.

    f. in the area Save in , select the location where you want to save the backup copy to, and then type a name for the backup file in the file name box.

    g. click Save.

  • HP Photosmart C4780 connects not (wireless) on Mac or wireless network

Sorry for the long post, but please someone help me!

I bought my new printer a few days (actually 14th) and began to implement on my MacBook Pro with my Wi - Fi, which is routed through a Linksys router and mainly through my desktop computer (a PC with Windows XP). I used the CD that came with the printer to set it up on my Mac and it has set up the fine by USB, but when I try to set up the wireless, I get the following message:

"Device not connected: to configure the network settings for the selected device, please connect via USB temporarily." The device can be disconnected from the USB once the network settings are transferred. »

I reconnected and got the same message over and over again, so I decided to set up on my desktop computer instead. This does not work either and I got the same message on my desk I have on my laptop. Uninstalled on both computers, reinstalled and I STILL got the same message. At this point, I'm about to throw all the electronics in my bath tub and be done with them but on the contrary, I checked (and double checked - and triple checked) my router via my browser settings, fact that I know the SSID and the password and reconnected to the network through my laptop... Once again, the same message. I tried the network installation of push, the installation of the network PIN, I feel I have tried everything! Probably miss me something small, but eyes fresh is always an asset.

  • Pavilion Dv4000: Windows 7 wireless driver help!

Guys, I really need your figureing helps it to...

My friends machine needed some TLC... so I formatted and reinstalled the Windows 7 operating system.

I went to the HP support for pilots page and there are only drivers XP Win.

In "Device Manager", it shows the following drivers requiring.

    Mass storage controller
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    Network controller
    Video controller

    The problem...

I simply can't the wireless to work for love nor money!

I downloaded and installed (a) different drivers for the wireless device. When they have been installed successfully, I'm supposed to be able to see a network to connect to diffuse all SSID wireless & Pick-up. I could not make it work! It worked once then stopped working again after it restarts as if this isn't retatining the driver for the wireless card. its really weird!

    Performed troubleshooting.

    • Downloaded the drivers for the wireless card and run them in compatibility mode (Win XP SP3) & installed.
    • Rebooted the machine. and the Wi - fi icon beside the clock has a red x through it, as it that the device is not enabled.
    • verified that the wifi was enabled. (what it was)
    • check that the pilot has been allowed within 'Device Manager' (it's still) drivers Displaying the "Intel 2200BG.
    • but still the Wifi symbol in the taskbar shows Red Cross or disabled marker on it.
    • Tried to install other Wifi drivers for the device of Intel 2200BG from other sites, including Intel. Restart, charges the driver installation (after removing the previous version) still nothing! same thing!
    • Tried to use the Intel utility to find the update and install the Wireless driver. (again same result).

It seems that Windows 7 accepts the driver Intel Pro / Wireless 2200BG, but somehow somewhere to turn off the device in Windows 7.  How does it can disable a device but see that the device is installed and works unless you are a doubtful driver?

Somehow, I managed to make it work for a while and connected to my wireless router. not a problem, then once the machine has been rebooted im at square one again!

thinking that might be something wrong with the registry systems or material etc... I then

    • Formatted the hard drive again for the 2nd time.
    • Re-installed the card WiFi on the laptop, checked the connections were seated correctly
    • re-installed the operating system Windows 7 again.
    • before applying any other drivers on the system I tried to reinstall the driver from the HP website (just to remove it may be a conflict driver with another thing. yet once always the same thing.

I spent hours on it now... and im at the point where I'm ready to run my friends laptop out the window and get extremely violent with her! I never met this before all the time, I played with computers. so I need someone to point out where im going wrong here. It's seriously making me crazy!

I have attached a picture of this post, I hope that's clear enough for you to see that bar Wi - Fi symbol and the pilot agreed to "Device Manager".

If anyone knows what drivers I can use for the rest of the devices, Audio, video (especially video and Wifi) and mass storage device would be much appreciated. There is still plenty of life in the old courbine of a machine and will make my boyfriend a good turn.
    • Someone please enlighten us on that until I lose the will to live!
    • Thanks in advance.

      Street

    You are the very welcome.

I see that the multimedia audio controller device has been installed and that means you should have sound there.

I already give you the driver for the mass storage controller (this is the card reader).

    Yes this is useful.

The graphics in this model is not quite able to market Vista or W7.  Quite capable, I mean he can't run Windows Aero.

There is that one driver in the world that has any chance of working for the graphics, it's this one... After installing this driver, you will be able to change the screen resolution and graphics acceleration is enabled.

    You must install it manually.

Download and run this driver.  You will probably get an error not supported operating system.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=447304 & swItemId = ob_47264_1 & swEnvOid = 2096

    Conclusion of any windows error.

Go to Device Manager and click on the video controller requiring driver.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.  Select her browse my computer for driver software option and find the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

This file will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and the driver should install.

Reboot and the graphics should work just fine, but not Aero.

    Hello

The laptop supports Realtek 802.11 wireless network card b/g, but it has not been equipped with BT module.
So if you want to connect wireless you must first activate the WLan on your laptop computer (WLan switch on IT and FN + F8).
Then it must be set up correctly using the right SSID, wireless encryption, Mac address, etc.
Also make sure that your router supports standard WLan even as the WLan card.

  • HP 7520: HP 7520 will not connect to the wireless network

There is some additional information to

    http://forums.Xfinity.com/T5/home-networking-router-WiFi/HP-7520-will-not-connect-to-wireless-networ...

    on this issue.

Have several APs for a single wireless network allows the printer foolish law.  (Not a Repeater, a second AP connected to the local network with the same configuration of network for security, etc.).

I solved this problem.  In accordance with the discussion on the link, the problem is that the printer cannot connect to a wireless network if there is greater than 1 for a wireless network (SSID) name wireless access point.

This thread has had several useful suggestions, but what finally solved the problem, it's the second point has access to a mode where I can create a 'virtual' access point and, above all, a SSID associated.

Note that not all access points or routers support virtual APs, but this function seems to be more common over time.  Older models is not able to do that.  However, a new access point is sometimes cheaper than a new printer.

If you do not understand the jargon in the procedure below, I recommend that you find someone who does, then they can do it for you.

    Solution:

    1. On one of the wireless access on the network, create an a new virtual AP with a slightly different name SSID (for example < name of the network - > _1), on the same VLAN (usually VLAN 1).  You may need to put the AP in "multiple AP mode" or something similar, and then restart the AP.  All other settings (DHCP, security, mixed mode b/g/n, etc.) must be the same for the new SSID.
    2. Run the printer Wireless Setup and connect it to this new SSID
    3. Confirm that the printer can be seen by other devices on the network

    Tips:

    • Check the security is the same as the original SSID, Alternatively you can create a vector of insecurity in your network.  Do not WEP-128 when the other SSID uses WPA2 AES, for example.
    • The AP I had had several resets to make it work because of the mode and parameter changes.
    • If you connect the SSID but cannot connect to or be seen by anything on your network, check the new SSID/AP is in the same VLAN as the original.
    • Because the printer is not roaming, and the speed is not a problem for me, I used the access point that could support this solution, which is deeper and slower than my primary AP.  I have not noticed any problems.

The printer has been reliable on the wireless now on the new SSID, 48 hours.

I have not upgraded any software on a client of the printer (PC, Mac, phones).

I think that it is a positive confirmation that the problem is with the implementation of the printer of the stack of network and not with the driver or client software on remote devices.  The 802.11 protocols provide for a network name (SSID) wireless with several access points using different MAC addresses.  I suggest this HP look into this as a potential bug with their network printer for the 7520 protocols stack.

  • Satellite L500D-163 - Wireless does not

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L500D-163 (with card wireless 802.11 b/g/n)
Router: Pirelli Discus (having support 802.11 b/g).

    Hello

I bought a portable Toshiba, Satellite L500D-163, two days ago.

Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux 10.04, the Wireless does not work. It shows all the available wireless network neighborhood, including mine, but it connects to my network.

I also have an Acer laptop that connects to my network wireless without problem.

I placed the Toshiba laptop side by side with my Acer laptop and tried all the options:
    802 11b, 802.11 g - WEP, WPA, WPA2
with simple passwords of the style: "00000000".

and SSID wireless to the router changed something as simple as "abcde".
Computer Acer laptop connected without problem in all cases, but Toshiba didn't connect.

In Windows 7, the connection information appears as connected but 'Limited' and the software Toshiba says that the laptop is not getting an IP address.

I manually entered the IP address (192.168.1.2), subnet mask (255.255.255.0) and the default gateway (192.168.1.1 router =) below the configuration in Windows 7 wireless card, but it did not work.

The laptop must support Toshiba, or y at - it an incompatibility with my router?

    Thank you.

    Great! Thanks for that!

  • Satellite Pro L510 cannot access my wireless network

The laptop recognizes wireless networks are available but requires a 'logon domain' with my user name and password.
Where can I find the logon domain? What is it?

    Hi mate

I don't know how you are trying to connect to the WLAN, but generally you n t need no user to connect to the WLan router password.

You need, it's the right SSID (wireless network name), Wlan encryption right and good WiFi encryption password.

First of all, ensuring that the WiFi network has been successfully activated!
Key combination to select Wlan using FN + F8!
Also read the manual of use of laptops for more details how to enable the Wlan!

Then, you must configure the Wlan router every router supports a configuration different procedure but normally you should always have a manual with your router.
There should be a step by step instruction how configure it!
