  You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the menu bar is hidden, to hide the menu bar through the view > toolbars, also accessible via Firefox > Options.
  
  If you need access to the hidden menu bar press F10 or press and hold the Alt key to display the menu temporarily bar.

  When reinstalling a download Firefox, Firefox must be down once the installation begins. Once installation is complete, do not let Setup start firefox for you.   Sorry to hear that. You can return to the v3.6.16, but in the end, support is removed for that eventually.

  To return to an earlier version, download Firefox 3.6.16

  Then go to add/remove programs and choose to uninstall Firefox 4.0, but don't check the option to delete your bookmarks, customizations etc. Those who will be selected for you so that you can continue to use them when you reinstall v3.6.16

  Restart and then run the downloaded v3.6.16 file.

  Check from time to time if there is any security updates released for this version by clicking help | Look for the updates
