I have disabled the automatic updates after the last round of updates, and now, all of a sudden, explorer.exe and svchost.exe use too much memory... enough to interfere with other programs, I try to use.

    Help?

Windows XP Professional - Svc Pack 3 processor: Intel (r) Pentium (r) D CPU 2.80GHz CPU speed: 2.73 GHz memory: 512 MB

Why you turn off automatic updates?

There are between the two options. I just set it to notify. When it is practical, I go to the Microsoft Update slte and use the custom (not Express) option. This gives the user full control of the update of trial.

You will have a better idea of the cause of the problem using Process Explorer.

    Download Process Explorer.
For more information about Process Explorer, see here:

With svchost.exe provide us a list of services using the process. There are number of processes that are using svchost.exe, so we need to know that we provide more targeted assistance. Right click on the process, click on properties and look at the Services tab.

Solution Explorer. exe has a number of subprocesses. Select the sub-process, click Properties and check the Services tab.

Have you recently changed all types of starting any service. This often leads to the problem. Users often disable a reflection of service to speed up the system performance. In practice what is done is of one or several programs to malfunction.

  • AVG says using too much memory because multiple firefox is open, but I only see one.

AVG regularly analyzes in the background. Lately he has demonstrated a popup window that says multiple applications of Firefox are running and using too much memory, so I should close some. But I can only see 1. Tried CTRL ALT DEL to see if I could find the answer, but only showed 1 firefox, and that he used more than 28 000. So I think that AVG is correct, but does not know how to see what who or where they are. They DO NOT display in the lower menu on the main screen, so I guess they are in the background. Do not have the virus, and Firefox, regularly updates itself. What should I do to fix?

    Hi cmich80220.
It is true, that you should only be able to run only one instance of Firefox at the same time. I searched but could not find someone else with a similar problem. If the problem comes back to Firefox running slowly, you can consult this article for troubleshooting:

  • VI by using too much memory

    Hi all

I am trying to write a code for pic Pic 2 dimensional on a large enough data file (about 1000 x 72000 points). The results of this should be integer values where each peak has been reduced to its maximum point for later statistical analysis (see attached code). The problem is when this code is executed, the VI quickly eat through all of the available memory and crashes. I'm under a system with 3 processors and 4 GB of ram, and the program has crashed every time after using approximately 3.5 GB, so I need to find a way to reduce the use of the memory of this VI. My VI and an example of data file is attached. Thank you.

    <><>

First of all, read 1000x72000x8bytes = ~ 600 MB for one copy in memory is pushing it. Then you have additional copies in the two graphs.

All your values seem to be small integers, so a U8 2D table would work just as well using 8 times less memory space.

Then you send these massive arrays of two graphs of intensity. The number of pixels in your chart is a small part of the picture, so you will have to reduce the data to display. Graphical representation of the 72000 columns on a less than 1000 pixels wide screen is ridiculous.

  • VMFusion 3.1.3 uses too much memory 'inactive' on my Mac

    Hi all

I have a new Mac desktop (1 month) with 8GBs of memory. I installed VMware Fusion version 3.1.3 using Windows 7, but I noticed that

If I start melting in the morning, in the evening, I left the 880MB of memory 'Free' approximatelt - most is made by Fusion or Windows 7 which memory is allocated in the "Inactive" Mac activity monitor - I do not how many, but one much more than say 3-4GB, discovering in mind when I did not merge performs is roughly 1 GB.

    Any help please!

    :-)

    Cheers all,.

    John

It is a problem of Mac OS X.  OS X will convert inactive memory free memory when it's in an OOM condition, but not earlier.  Of course, there is a performance hit when this happens.  If you want to control when this conversion occurs, you need the "purge" the Developer Tools for Mac OS X unix command.  If you have already installed Xcode, typing in "purge" in the Terminal should erase this memory for you after appearing to hang your computer for a few seconds.

In my view, that the problem is with memory mapped files.  Fusion is "dirty" files and OS X is save some wear disc and write delays do not write the file until it is necessary to do so (you stop the merger, or use the command purge).

  • Why system32\svchost.exe using too much memory

My computer freezes several times a day.  I have to wait several minutes to get it working again.  When it starts up, it shows a window saying c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe uses a lot of memory.  What is the cause for this?

    Hi Cyndy62,

    1. When did you start to question?

2 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

    3. This occurs when you use a specific application or all applications?

    Step 1:

You can check in safe mode and check if it uses the same energy...

Start your computer in safe mode

    Step 2:

If you are not faced with the question in safe mode, then you can try to perform a clean boot and see if it helps.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

After the troubleshooting steps, please refer to clean the boot link to put the computer to normal startup mode.

You can also read the following article and see if it helps.

  • Svchost is using too much memory and causes other problems

I have a strange problem. I always have a remarkable svchost process that uses a lot of memory. It doesn't bother me, if I am just browsing the web, but when I run a program so it does make a difference. Now, here's where the problems start. Sometimes I can't start even some programs while this process is running. Programs would freeze everything trying to launch and they will stay like that until I kill the svchost that takes up my memory. After I kill the process the program I already started will be complete loading, but the process killed will come back and start hogging my memory still. It seems to interfere with many things. I reinstalled windows, thinking that it was caused by a windows update, but even without updates, it is still at work.

Let me know what information should I provide for you to help me solve this problem and I'm open to sharing.

I have it down to a signle service.

    Multimedia class Scheduler

It uses more and more memory until I permanently terminate the svchost run slot, then it starts again. I went the service manual and it always starts by itself.

    Hi CIVC.

I've seen other threads with this same type of problem that it was caused by a virus/malware.  I might suggest to run a full scan with your anti-virus/anti-malware software and see if you find something.  If necessary you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner:

  • iMovie uses too much memory

Hello! We have deleted projects and clips in iMovie so only 30 seconds rest. Even iMovie use 4.9 GB iPad-memory documents and data. Please we advice how to free this memory.

iPad Mini, 16 Gb, IOS 9.2.1 iMovie 2.2.1

    Best regards!

    Hi Sundborg,

Did you reboot your iPad after you delete projects and clips that you had in iMovie?  If the data still showing on your iPad, you can remove it by deleting the iMovie app.

First, make a backup of your iPad via iCloud or iTunes and export all data that you currently have in your iMovie app as an extra precaution.

Then delete the iMovie app and restart the iPad mini.  Once you have verified that the data has been disabled, you can redownload the iMovie app if you want.  Click on the links below for additional information.

  • Update Windows using too much memory in Windows XP

In the last week I came across many computers where windows update is slowing down the computer because it uses over 400MB of ram.  This seems to affect Windows XP.  In the Task Manager wuauclt.exe and svchost.exe are the two files involved.  When Windows Update is disabled, everything is back to normal.  If you try to update Windows via the Windows Update Web site, there is no answer.  Please tell us what to do.

  • Why firefox uses so much memory?

For several months, Firefox has eaten memory like crazy. Once I get more than 5 tabs open or that you have Firefox running for more than an hour, the memory usage hit about a GB. If I continue to let go beyond that, it will hit 1.5 to 2 GB and it made my gel set office. I got to keep the Task Manager and every hour or so just kill Firefox and restart. Preventing it from crashing my whole desktop computer. It's definitely worse when I opened Google products, especially maps and Docs. GMail is generally OK.

I tried to disable literally every add-on and Extension (including Flash and Adblock).

I'm on Windows 7, I have 4 GB of RAM installed. I am on version 40.0 Firefox, but this has happened through a few updates now (I think the problem started around March or April). I also tried to back - rev Firefox and go to the latest version, that I had before the problems started, but that did nothing either.

Chrome works fine on this machine without any similar problems - but I prefer Firefox!

  • How to stop sharing folder Windows Media Player executable because it uses too much CPU?

How can I disable the network share (wmp.share) because he is constantly using too much CPU? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Hello
    • This happens while Windows running media player?
    • What were the changes made before the problem occurred?
    You can view these methods:
    Method 1:
I recommend you perform the clean boot.

Configuration of your system in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2:
I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.
