Google search results on the page with "(function(){}) (;(function(){})()');"

Installed FF9.0.1. I type a word in the google search bar and results. When I select 'shopping' from the left navigation, it flashes the results and then refreshes instantly to a white page with this in mind: (function() {}) ();(function(){})();

The same thing happens if I click on 'News' and 'Videos' of the NAV. However, if I click on 'Images' and 'Maps' it works fine and load the corresponding Google search results. The url below is a search for 'test '.

  • Why FF spends CPU both on google search results?

I have the problem that Firefox spends more than 10% of CPU on the display of a static page like google search results. I use Firefox on a late 2012, MacBook Pro and the constant use of the CPU so drains the battery and produces a lot of heat after some time.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. start Firefox in safe mode, disable all extensions
    2. Enter "why ff is spending cpu both on google search results ' in the address bar
    3. watch how the Firefox CPU usage goes to a constant 10%

    Additional information:
It seems that other users have experienced the same problem too, for example,

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/960806

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/957512

However, the systematic response to questions was always restart Firefox in safe mode, disable all plugins, etc, etc. I tried everything, nothing works.

    Workaround solution:
For me, the problem occurs only on the page of google search results. I don't know what is special about this particular Web page and show why he needs so much CPU. It may be that Firefox uses a lot of CPU on others too many static Web pages. However, a simple cure for my problems (for now) is to move to some other site when Firefox is idle. CPU utilization drops at least < 1% almost immediately after that.

Hi klopps, I don't get on Windows 7 (screen shot attached; tried both connected and disconnected).

Google sometimes run experiments on its poster page causing people to have results different and/or a different behavior. Disconnect and clear all cookies from Google can give you a default experience, or maybe not, they don't advertise these things.

If you want to try it:

Just a page on the site, either:

    • Right click and select View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".
    • Menu Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".

In the dialog box that opens, you can delete all Google cookies individually.

Then when you reload, bypass the cache of Firefox using the command + shift + r.

  • I see that google search results, scroll to the bottom and they disappear. Why?

All of a sudden when I use Firefox, I get a list of Google search results, scroll to the bottom and poof I see only a blank page. What is going on?

    Hello jpachner,

This happens only in Google or you have noticed other web pages? Most of these issues could be due to some changes in configuration or plugins.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, exit Firefox (not just close the window) and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Exactly, it would depend on how you have set the referencing of your site, please check the suggestions made in this tutorial:

  • Using only the address bar can have a drop down of google search results has not been visited webistes

I would like to see my search results in the address instead of the results bar previously visited (if possible a mixture of both), I just wondered if their was anyway to do it, without using the mini search bar. Thank you!

I think that for now, you need an add-on to display search suggestions below the address bar you type, if I interpret correctly your question.

  • AVG safe Search appears when I only use Google Search on my home page.

My home page is the default page of Firefox with the Google search bar. I like occasional Firefox messages when I log so I don't want to change my homepage. However, when I use the search bar on my homepage only, I get the unsatisfactory results of AVG safe Search.

UPDATE: I realize has now all the troubleshooting information that I included in my original question is displayed under the link "Details of the system more" beside the question, not in the body of the question. I copied here to make it easier to see what I've done to try to solve the problem, but also to describe one clue that I have that may be relevant:

I tried all the fixes on different threads, but my point: config is now Virgin (no avg or isearch mentions; keyword.url is default). Closest solution for you is to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/866327 , which requires a change of my homepage.

Curiously, AVG safe Search is not a problem when I use Google or search the site of Google toolbar when I use the search bar that appears on my home page (start). This is true even when I return to my home page - if I search from the Google search bar in the middle of the page, I am sent to AVG Safe Search. (isearch.avg.com).

I read in a thread of a suggestion to delete my file chromeappsstore.sqlite in the folder of my profile. As promised, Firefox has created a new when I restarted however, the search bar in the middle of my home home page did not work at all. Tried this three times before restoring my original.

I don't have an application that opens a sqlite file, but I tried to do in Excel and found a cell containing the following text:

    emoh.:moz - security aboutsearch engine {'Name': "AVG safe Search", "searchUrl" ': "http://isearch.avg.com/search?cid={7A3C25A0-E345-4507-AA31-D98F596A81A9}" & mid = c48135235ba247d18ac1d14b344db451-addd29eab2809954d5abdf0b991a5b911a297819 & ds = is015 & lang = en & v = 10.0.0.7 & pr = his = d & sap dsp = & q = _searchTerms_ "}

I have no idea what this means, but it's the only thing I can find related to Firefox which mentions again AVG and isearch.avg.com.

At this point, my best guess (but that's a guess) is that the chromeappsstore.sqlite file is a key for a complete solution, but I don't have enough knowledge to go beyond and address it. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I think I solved the problem. As someone who has used occasionally used Access and other database applications, I had to first find a free app that would allow me to change chromeappsstore.sqlite. Then, I needed instructions on how change. I found the answers to these two questions to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/779082 . Thank you Dr. Watson; awaits my needs 10 months ago!

I don't think I'd be able to formulate my questions clearly enough to find the solution without posting here first.

For the people who try this solution do not know databases: make sure that you save a copy of the chromeappsstore.sqlite before trying this fix. You cannot save a copy under a different name of the sqlitebrowser application (or at least, I couldn't find a function "save under").

  • Huge topics (URL links) appearing in Google search results

Since about a week or two ago (URL links) topics that appear in the Google search results I was huge.
I don't think this inconvenience comes from Google, because it does not happen with Internet Explorer 8. Furthermore, I believe that Google would not leave this question open for so long. In addition, it is less obvious when Firefox opens Yahoo. In short, it is a matter of "Firefox with Google".

It's a good idea to test things in safe mode, but please be aware that not every change of setting will be reset in safe mode. So, reset can still solve the problem. Another thing you can try removes cookies (especially those estate of google), and the zoom reset, something could have with that before. Here's how to reset the zoom level: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/font-size-and-zoom-increase-size-of-web-pages

  • How can I get 12 of Firefox to open a link from Google search results?

Since the upgrade to version 12.0, whenever I click on certain links in the browser just "recharge" the same page, as I'm on instead of loading the new page in the same tab. When this happens, it's not to open the link in a new tab or the tab on a window, instead, just for a second, I said 'connection' and has the circular busy light, and then I'm right where I was before. In order to actually follow a link, I'll have to, click background, and then click Open in a new tab.

On many Web sites, the links follow as usual and open the new page in the same tab. Others have not, however, like the google search results page. I wonder if it's something to do with the new feature anti-double tab and if yes, how do I disable that? I'm on OS x 10.6.8. Thank you.

    Hihi

[Link Spam deleted by the moderator. Please read the guidelines and rules of the Forum, thank you.]

Google sets several cookies, however, if you delete and you are not signed in, then you get results for your browser, language, geographic location, etc. and not for you personally.

Google has a tool that shows you where your page comes up in a search? I remember seeing some thing like that in the webmaster tools some time ago, at least I think that's where he was, or perhaps analytical.
