  • windows\system32\config\system missing or corrupted display.

I was remove two conflicting security, CA & Ad-Aware programs.  Everything worked great until I rebooted.  Then the black the Windows\system32\config\system missing or damaged screen appeared.  Is there a way to recover my data and restore my computer without the disk restor?

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Let me start with this: (never start with KB307545)

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

I bought photoshop elements 13 and downloaded and tried to install it. I got an error message that says it is a pirated version and install. What should I do?

Start with the one that you bought - see what they have to say for her.

While the use of the words "pirated version" is conclusive enough, if you can view the full error message it might help explain the problem also.

  • cannot access windows\system32\config\system file to retrieve

Hi all, my problem was a common originally, my XP computer would not start as it says that the file \windows\system32\config\system is damaged or missing. I tried the 3 steps to recovery according to the instructions, but already in the first stage, I had the following problem: I could not copy the SYSTEM TMP file, it does not, and I get a message that the file is not accessible, even if I can see it in the CONFIG DIR. Nor could then delete the file, I get the message "the falied to delete operation. So as a result, I can't open the CONFIG folder to be able to put the "new" SYSTEM repair file Then of course as a result I can't go to step 2 (safe mode) because I keep getting the error about the missing or damaged file SYSTEM.

So in summary: I can see the SYSTEM file in the config folder, dated a few days ago. But I can't make them disappear to put in the place of repair file SYSTEM safe mode and access.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thank you

    I see.

All too well since KB307545 normally should be attempted If chkdsk /r does not solve the problem.
I'll look into your question. But in the meantime, boot from the CD and rerun the Recovery Console. When you get the C:\ prompt, type the following
    Chkdsk /r
then press the Enter key (there is a space before the slash).
You may find that chkdsk /r is all you need to do to fix your problem. Let us know!
  • I get a dll error message that says: "the application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\kizinone.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

I get a dll error message that says: "the application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\kizinone.dll is not a valid Windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.

I went to the system registry to find the file it refers and is not a he.  I ran a norton registry cleanup and a virus scan.  I did find something online that made reference to this dll file.  The message appears at any time that I start a new program.  How to fix this, or find the virus that is the cause.

A Google search for "[insert the name of the file]" grown up nothing. When you get no hits for a filename on Google, chances are high that it is a malicious program file. You did not when you get the message. If it's only at startup, either you have uninstalled the malware program or your antivirus/antispyware program did. In all cases, a reference has been left in the boot file. You can remove the reference by managing your startup. If you get the message during regular time on the computer and not not only at startup, your computer is still infected.

Norton will do the job of cleaning and registry cleaners are garbage who at best will not do anything and the worst risk damage to your Windows installation.

First of all, make sure that the computer is really free of virus/malware through these systematically - General malware removal steps http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware . Then, if the computer is really clean and you still receive the message, manage your Startup to remove the reference to the malware:

Start > run > msconfig [Enter]

This will open the System Configuration utility. Look under the Startup tab and find the likely culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, apply and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but next time you do, you will get a dialog box saying that you have used the utility. Just check the box that says in effect, "don't mind to this subject again".

My hard drive crashed and I can't access anything anyone on this subject. I have a second hard drive that was used for additional storage only. I'm doing this second walk my master drive. After changing the cables, jumpers, the bios settings to show as the master I am using the Windows XP disk, I try to put in place. I get an error message that says: I need a full version disc windows genuine, not a disc to upgrade to. When I bought the computer it came with Windows ME preinstalled and there was no disk that came with the machine. Is it possible to get a cd of microsoft, or download a file, which can help get this another hard drive mounting correctly?
