GPU Overclocking on Satellite P100

Hello

I have a question.
I have the Satellite P100 - 10 p. Will I overclock the GPU (is it safe and to see how well will I overclock).
I have 7900GS and RivaTuner.

Thanks in advance,

Jan

It is nice to hear positive comments, but in my opinion, it is quite risky and the result may be overheating, damage of graphics card or permanent ventilation of cooling running. I just hope that everything will be ok. You have done at your own risk, and if something is wrong you can expect pretty expensive repair costs.

In any case thank you for your report. Make sure that the ventilation openings are not blocked and the laptop can be cooled properly. Maybe you should put your laptop a little higher and make more distance between the desktop and your laptop. Place on four CDboxes or something similar.

Good bye

During the mobile overclock was "in the air". The GPU temperature did not more than 66 degrees.

Laptop works perfectly, no bugs in the rendering. The overclock test is complete.

BTW: for overclockers who wants to overclock Toshiba Satellite p100 - 10 p: I recommend you overclock of 20-30 mHz GPU and memory. Its stable, safe and should increase your FPS.

  • Can I change CPU or GPU on my Satellite P100-478?

    Hello

    I have a * P100-478 *.

And I would like to * upgrade * parts:

    -* CPU *.
    -* Graphics *.

I know it's a very demanding task and there is no _standard_ graphics cards for laptops, but I would like to take the risk anyway.

I need to know what are some of the * best * CPU and graphics cards that are * compatible * with my laptop motherboard.

    > I need to know what are the best CPU and graphics cards that are compatible with my laptop motherboard.
Do you really believe that someone here can give you an adequate answer to your question? It is portable and not. Hardware upgrade on mobile units are very limited, and you can get accurate answers on RAM or HARD drive modules, but not CPU or GPU.

Some people on this forum have talked about successful upgrade of CPU, but no one has mentioned on the GPU upgrade. CPU and GPU are two pieces of hardware that produce most of the heat and each built in cooling system is adapted to work correctly with standard parts.

In theory, how should this old cooling system cool new, more powerful CPU or GPU?
OK, I understand your desire to do, but believe me, it is meaningless, especially on the old P100.

What do you do? Extremely powerful laptop or what?

  • Satellite P100 - 222 PSPA6E - when the new GPU driver will be available

    Hello!

Me laptop Satellite P100-222 (PSPA6E), a GeForce 7900GS Videocard. Vista operating system is established. Display version 7.15.11.5666 driver.
The driver are already obsolete, to some new 3D schedules it has a bad display of structures and so on.

It would be desirable to learn, when appears in new display driver?

    Hello

    > when will appear in the new display driver?

Who knows I didn t find any info on the Toshiba page.
But as far as I know the many laptop models are equipped with the same graphics chip.
Therefore, you can also try a driver for another model that was equipped with the same GPU chip.

  • No GPU fan after upgrading the BIOS to 4.2 on Satellite P100-434

Hi, I upgraded my BIOS today to version 4.2 and since the GPU fan only works during the splash screen, and once Vista has loaded, it never runs again, in addition, the CPU fan turns at a constant speed, and the screen has "shifted" to the right, so I quarter of the right hand of the screen on the left.
As you can imagine, it's a little annoying, and to say that the GPU temp is 65deg. with 90deg all about processors. not too good for the material.

Is could someone PLEASE tell me how I can downgrade the BIOS?

I have fans and fences etc. are all and free from dust.

I do turn all the appropriate toshiba of specific drivers, and I even tried to reinstall the NVidia one card.

  • GPU fans to work on Satellite P100-429 (Nvidia) on Linux

    Hello

I have a P100-429... and managed to get the GPU fan to work. As most of you probably know, we edit the DSDT in order to get its work under Linux (and these laptops). There, another fix that also allows the GPU fan work. Mine seems to be on low-speed all the time and the Nvidia display configuration application now the temp to be less than 50 c most of the time, so before he went up to 75 or more.

In any case, I've posted my DSDT updated at: http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/edit.php?manufacturer=Toshiba&name=Satellite+P100-429

NB I use also of the Bios version 3.30.

I found the solution on the French site, I had to interpret slightly.

  • Replacement of GPU on Satellite P100-216

I joined this forum on behalf of my brother who lives in Turkey. He took with him to England a Satellite P100-216 laptop.
He had problems with him and he took to a workshop in Turkey to tell the graphics card needs to be replaced and the installer had problems to make a. He suggested to one of the United Kingdom and next time someone visits, they can take the card to the Turkey. I live in England and also told me of a repair shop here that the card is integrated on the motherboard, and it cannot be replaced, it s not worth repair.

Could someone advise me if this is the case. If it s not integrated, y at - it another card that would fit. It only play hidden object games, so I doubt that he would need a top spec.
Any information would be very useful and I thank in advance for the help

    Hi dude

You shouldn't be disappointed. The forum is a user to user forum.
If others think they might be able to help then they will post here in this thread.

    > I live in the United Kingdom and also told me of a repair shop here that the card is integrated on the motherboard, and it cannot be replaced, it s not worth repair.

That s right the GPU is a part of the mobo and if the GPU would be defective, then you need to replace the motherboard. But the new motherboard is not cheap, so maybe better to buy a second hand laptop before getting the mobo replaced.

PS: as you can see that it is a user to user forum... maybe other users expect a notice from you too as you did too, so to be part of the community and try to help others also...

  • Satellite P100-387: are what compatible GPU

Can someone answer my question, pls, is it compatible with any GPU with the toshiba p100-387 out of NVidia 7600 go?
I'll be really grateful if someone told me the answer =)

    Unfortunately buddy
The replacement of the GPU or the upgrade is not possible if something goes wrong with the graphics card, then the whole motherboard must be replaced.
In most cases, the GPU is soldered on the motherboard and cannot be deleted.

  • Satellite P100-145 GPU fan does not work!

    Hello

Is there a solution to this problem yet? He started only since I upgraded my wood to 3.80. The base gets so hot on the right side and it is even radiant heat through the top panel on which my wrist/hand rests.

Not to mention it will slowly destroying components inside. I was running a game more early to test the fan and it would not turn on just once! It was so hot! At least 100 deg/c!

I am wanting to downgrade the bios but cannot find anywhere on the sites of toshibas. Can someone provide me please with details on how to get a bios earlier? 2.40 would be great. Back to factory settings and especially on FAN!

I have the Satellite P100-145. It was great at first... until I found some problems due to the design.

    Help, please

    Hello

It may seem a little weird, but you can repeat the update of the bios? After this, reinstall the latest display drivers available from the toshiba driver download page. Maybe it just s driver related, so you should give it a try...

And Don t forget to give some feedback if it succeeded.

  • Satellite P100: BSOD nv4_disp infinite loop playing a game

    Hello

I hope you can see my details of my profiling system, but in case you can't, here are the basic details:

    Satellite P100-113; 2x2.0GHz; 2 GB of memory; XP Pro SP3. Go 7600 256 MB - factory core/mem speed 350 / 400 MHz - no overclocking.
Out of warranty: purchased as a plant-reclamation in 2006. No problem at all until this - great machine!

I tried for 2 weeks to resolve the formidable 'in nv4_disp infinite loop' blue screen of the problem of death, which occurs when playing company of Heroes Opposing Fronts (COHOF). Original COH has always run without any problem.

I think I tracked down what is happening. Using RivaTuner, I took a log of data GPU, both in the general use of Windows and by practicing a COHOF game. I had just downloaded a "fix" claimed this infinite loop problem; referenced in the nvidia forum.
I think it was the only reason that the game did not plant this time, so that I could look at the newspaper. But this has not yet resolved the problem.

What is clear, according to the journal of Riva, it's the GPU speeds are usually 0/0 on Windows. Then, every few minutes, he crawls up to something like 198/135, for only 10-20 seconds and then again. This, in my opinion, has always happened, because it is accompanied by a rapid acceleration of the fan and a "sigh" to air for a few seconds. The machine has always done since I bought it, and it is not a problem in normal conditions (i.e. not game) use.

But here'w what happened in the game. After playing about 30 minutes (I noted earlier), the game suddenly stuttered horribly, so I thought it might be breaking. FPS increased from typical of 30-40 something like 0.5 to 2 FPS. And this continued for another 15 minutes (I went to play, with gritted teeth, in order to obtain good log data).

Looking at the newspaper of Riva, what happened at that time was one of these speed GPU rampdowns: down 351/398 expected 198/198 - just for about 15 seconds, then go back to the top to 351/398. Given that the "infinite loop" error includes a description "device driver entered an infinite loop waiting for the material to answer", I am fairly certain that it is the cause of the infinite loop BSOD: If the GPU suddenly decides to run at reduced speed in half, under heavy load (COHOF has often been described as the ultimate stress-test system) , you expect this kind of error occurs. I suspect that this is the point to which I would have had a crash "infinite loop" - but perhaps the 'fix', I downloaded caught the ball and prevented the usual total crash.

Temperature: absolutely perfect. I use a Zalman cooler under the machine. Riva reports temperatures GPU 51 c (idle), maxing out at a constant C 66-68 without crampons (load, COHOF). So, my driver unless (I tried 84.4 - later, Toshiba or 91.33, 156.13, 164 something laptopvideo2go.com) is a misinterpretation of the temperature data and imagine that the card needs to be rested (because the driver thinks, it's hitting the ceiling of 115 HP.), is not an overheating problem.

The fact that go up and down this rise has always happen, even with the original drivers installed at the factory from Toshiba (the regular intermittent fan 'sighs') makes me think that this is part of Toshiba design for integration of the Go 7600 in this machine. Perhaps something of the power management, or to extend the life of the chip. (I have all the settings of power-mgmt software I can find the value "grass of the battery, give me performance", since I usually use the machine plugged).

Now, it of very well under Windows, does not cause problems. But he won't. The GPU is ramping down, without apparent reason, while COHOF is throwing a huge workload on it.

    Issues related to the:
    1. How can I disable this behavior ramp - at least temporarily to play COHOF? I've never heard of a GPU accelerates its speed goes up and down depending on the load, so I doubt it's problem of nVidia.
    2. can I get an updated driver for this machine? The most recent is 84.4.0. Of course, it is possible to download drivers from laptopvideo2go.com modded-, but I suspect that these pilots to leave out some specific Toshiba 'magical' that manages the specific details of this card in this machine. (p. ex. or SpeedFan and Riva can detect any fans in my system, which suggests that Toshiba took control of the fan "under the hood" somehow).
    3. where can I get an update BIOS/firmware for the Go 7600? You can find anything on the net, apart from that!

Looks like I need to take this with a hardcore of Toshiba tech (I don't know if Toshiba supports log on this forum); But if someone reads this and has a time "click - I know that this", please post some ideas as to what I can do.

    Hey Buddy

It seems that this Toshiba forum is only a user forum, and it seems there are only Toshiba users here and not technicians.

In any case if I understand you problem described in your long ad, the graphic issue appears only this specific game (company of Heroes Opposing Fronts).

In my opinion, the graphics driver is not fully compatible with this game or your game does not support the nVidia Driver
So it s not a problem with the laptops hardware, but compatibility issues between the two parties game<->graphics driver software

I think a graphics driver update (if available) might help.

Here are my responses regarding the points:

    (1) as I said above, I think that the graphics driver update might help to
    (2) according to my experience, all the latest drivers graphics (and other drivers) are published on the Toshiba driver website
    (3) you can find only a Toshiba BIOS on the Toshiba driver page. BIOS or firmware update graphic card is unknown to me and to be honest I don t think it would exist.

  • Satellite P100-347 - problem with the judgment during the game

    I have a problem with my (pspa6e) Satellite P100-347

After about 10 minutes of play time with games like battlefield 2, the SIMS2 and so on... my pc stops...
I knew it was close because of high gpu or cpu temp...

I felt that my laptop was warm, but after playing for a while its normal...

So I installed HWmonitor to check my gpu, CPU and disk hard temp...

    That's what I show:

    THRM: 61.C - 141.F

    CPU: core0\1 - two 64.C - 147.F

    GPU: turn 85 stable - 90.C
    This normal use... no games...

    HARD DRIVE: 39.C

Something must be wrong! GPU temp is too high?
I tried a fresh install of the OS...

Thnx for all the help and answers!

Hmm these times can be a little high.

Most likely there is dust in the radiator. You can use compressed air to remove it. Or as a miracle solution, blow into the vents dust closes in contrast to air circulation.

    Hey,.

    > ALWAYS goes black as soon as the ramps of gpu for example of playing a video or comparative analysis of the graphics card.
This means that the graphics card is defective

Theoretically, it could be an overheating problem too. Higher time can also cause a black screen. You should try everything that is possible to clean your laptop using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

If it doesn t help it seems to be a hardware malfunction but seriously a point would be interesting: have you noticed the same thing with preinstalled OS (Vista) Toshiba?
