  When the graphics amplifier is plugged all the options for the laptop on standby are unavailable.

  When the amplifier is NOT plugged

  (1) the laptop sleeps

  (2) power options to change the behavior of the power buttons and lid are available to set

  (3) to change power options the "stop settings are all available."

  (5) in the command center AW options for cover buttons and power exist. Show all options and work just as directly from power options.

  When the amplifier IS plugged

  (1) portable computer does not sleep

  (2) power options to change the behavior of the power buttons and lid are NOT available to address

  (4) power menu didn't sleep

  (5) in the command center AW options for cover buttons and power exist.  However only the options of 'Stop' and 'Do nothing' work.

  I have the latest graphics drivers amplifier.

  I have the last command center of AW.

  The amplifier is loaded with a GB of Titan X 12 GTX - I tried the last divers NVIDIA as well as those on the DELL site.

  I also tried the NVIDIA drivers desktop and laptop NVIDIA drivers.  I read some posts where drivers for laptop computer should always be used, but playing Devils lawyer I've tried both.

  There is no problems with the graphics performance.  The only problem is the laptop can not sleep, nor so all options work for configure to sleep.

  Has anyone else seen elsewhere?

  This IS intentional behavior.  I agree that it is a huge usability problem and I wish I had known that the sleep and Hibernate would be disabled before buying my GA like my setup with its power supply 980ti and nVidia 750w improved waste as much electricity when I have to walk away and end up leaving the thing running for hours , but the truth is she IS the behavior expected - I have my theories as to why, but the fact that it is a voluntary limitation was confirmed by Dell.  Perhaps the reasoning in the spirit of the engineers comes from what would happen if, for example, the laptop someone entered mode of hibernation when you are connected to the AG.  It seems to me be off for all practical purposes, so that the user can easily be supposed to think they can come and disconnect the cables from GA and throw their laptop in a case and take off with him.  Then when they try to feed him without the GA attached to the top, it would almost certainly be BSOD right from the start and then Dell would have to deal with people calling to complain that their laptops are not stable, and the general image of any of the Alienware series if hit people started hearing through the grapes that these new laptops BSOD a lot... so rather than trust for be smart enough to understand the functioning of our machines, they just disabled all features of sleep when the gas are attached.  That's my theory.  If I'm right there should be a way to force it to sleep, and we just keep in mind not to disconnect our gas without first wake up the machine to make a complete stop.

• No full-screen video. Alienware 17 & Graphics amplifier

  I have a problem with my Alienware PC screen and full screen. The Setup is:

  Laptop Alienware 17
  Alienware graphic of the amplifier with a graphics card eVGA GeForce 970 installed.
  4K external display connected via HDMI

  Laptop computer and graphics amplifier aged less than 3 months.

  Problem is that when I go to display full-screen video I can hear the video playback, but the screen goes black. This happens with video 1080 p and 4K video from a source that allows me to go full screen. This includes Windows Player, video YouTube on Chrome, video player GoPro, etc etc. As soon as you go full screen, the screen goes black but video continues to play (you can hear the sound track).

  Any advice? I need to change the setting?

  I had to turn off my chart of hd530. You will need to re-enable it when you use it as just a laptop. Are there drivers for AGA, maybe that would help. It's just *.

• X 51 R3 and graphics amplifier - lanes available PCIe?

  I have a X 51 R3 with an i7-6700 inside for a processor, a 960 in the PCIe slot GTX GPU internal and a graph connected with a GTX inside 1080 amplifier. With the GTX installed 960, 960 a 16 lane PCIe available and GPUz shows it connected like this, and the 1080 has only 2 channels available PCIe and shows that it connected like that. When I remove the 960 internal 1080 in the graphic amplifier shows that it is connected via PCIe 3.0 x 4-4 lanes available.

  Why would this be the case? Is there a solution?

  Hey guys... I really hope that someone can help me here as I got nowhere with online and phone support...... I have an Alienware R3 17 GTX 970 m, i7 6700 HQ, 12 GB of ram. 2016 model... I bought an Alienware with an ASUS GTX 1070 8 GB DDR graphics amp after connecting the amp it powers the fans on the amp... fans on the graphics card are running and propelled too, but the alienhead logo fails to ignite, also not to would not light light on the cable, and the alienware fx shows how disconnected amp graphic. I get a black screen on laptop startup saying. ' device not recognized in the amplifier graphics it supports NVidia cards and amd, press a key to continue "mine is a nvidia card... Here's what I did so far, re sitting the card and cables... reinstall clean Windows 10, 64-bit, version 1607, to update all the last drivers.bios version installed. uninstalled GeForce, drivers, unplug the amp. resinstalled GeForce and all the drivers... twice, the two while the amp connected and disconnected... updated every single on the laptop driver... rebooted the laptop... have done many and repeatedly... my laptop still fails to recognize the external graphics card and I get black unrecognized peripheral said start-up screen... I don't know if it's a hardware or software issue.i previously thought the card was faulty... I went and got a replacement for a new ASUS card, (the previous one was a gigabyte). is it possible that the amp is broken?

  Hello, Andrew. Just a quick update... as I suspected... It was the AGA... I borrowed my friends AGM (who lives about 30 miles away) I thought that the drive is worth the shot... so came home... connected all the cables... turned on the laptop... BAM! It has detected the card immediately... I didn't have to update or download anything... I don't have the black screen at startup (device not recognized screen). played metro 2033 redux. smooth as butter 60 fps with al maxed out... also tried linking the AGA to my 65 inch curved 4 K tv... and he played incredibly with this also... tried to plug my AGA back... same problem... black screen... spent my AGA Fellows >. has worked like a charm... send then the AGM back to dell... and ask for a replacement :-)

  I have the latest Alienware 17 R3 with an i7-6820, 16 GB of RAM and GTX 980 M 8 GB GTX. Had this laptop about a month now

  My question is, is compatible with my laptop being 17 R3 amplifier because the website says just 17 R2 and it be worth to buy me one and put an office 980 m 4 GB in there. I see a massive difference in performance and the framerate to run games on ultra settings?

  To spend another £150 on an amplifier and then another £300 odd or so on a GTX I need to know is - this useful

  The graphics of Alienware amplifier is certainly compatible with your Alienware 17 R3. The unit should have the port for her on the back, right next to the HDMI port.

  It seems that the map does not work as expected. If you have tried several different video drivers, you can look in the replacement of the card. It can also be due to the fact that the amplifier was not intended for this card, only the R9 series.

  I've been editing using a macbook pro (13-inch 2011 with ssd 16 GB ram external monitor) to edit with cs6 for some time.

  I'll order a new Imac next month. Mainly to the test of the future. I am a photographer and filmmaker and want to be able to change HD and 4 k in FCPX.  I also use CS6 for existing projects until I learn FCPX

  Money is of course limited. I am considering a refurbished 27 inch imac, retina 2015 with the video card of 4 GB and 2 TB drive of fusion. I intend to add two 8 gig ram-chips or if money allows two 16 gig chips.
  I plan to order two 240 GB ssd usb drives 3 and their raid for a drive utility disc scratch.

  I have a nas backup disk and fw800 disks for storage and backup. the plan is to use the ssd raid while working on a project then transfer it to the other drives for storage and backup.

  Thus, questions...
  is the video card of 4 GB with a value of extra money or not?
  a bare raid ssd is put in place a good idea for the drive working?
  The amount of ram is enough? keep the stock 2 x 4; Add 2 x 8 or spend more and go 2 x 16?
