  • Pavilion dv4 Laptop CPU Upgrade

can I put my processor and/or graphics in a hp pavilion dv4-1145go. I've heard that I can upgrade the processor. I'm looking to upgrade these pieces seamless, but I understand that the cpu has a normal socket, but to upgrade the graphics card I need a new PC mobo/all new.

    Hello

You can upgrade the processor if you don't have the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 - 2.0 GHz processor (Merom-MV, at 800 MHz front side bus, 2 MB cache level 2 total, taken Micro-FC-PGA, 35W TDP, 65nm) installed. It is the only listed in PartSurfer replacement processor. This means that it is very likely to be the only guarantee compatible processor.

A new motherboard is needed to improve the graphics.

  • Product name: HP Pavilion g6 N: windows10ophobic

    Hi all

I'm looking for a new best friend with the patience to answer some questions for someone who just isn't getting it. That is to say: me.

I bought this laptop with win8, updated to 8.1 all good 2 years ago.

updated win10, OK at first, then, all bad. end of this week with an update and restarting the ensuing, leaving my computer in a loop to restart, wih "critical process died" will fix and reboot, etc. etc. etc.

Microsoft hotline took an hour and could not solve this problem, then they sent me to the HP support by phone.

the daughter of HP has got my first computer. has ran a few tests, then she started a factory reset and left me to her, she's happy, I'm happy.

Imagine my joyful surprise when zero finished and I got windows 8 back, now I'm terrified because my day 30 return back option to win 10 is expired.

is there a way that Microsoft can update my computer completely backwards without saying yes to 10 windows? and I'm sure to upgrade to win8.1.

According to my other post, I cannot create a recovery key and do not have.

advice options or help would be greatly appreciated.

I really don't want to win10 back and glad to have a second chance with win8

@oopsys: don't be upset by NOT Win10 to stay with Win8x and running.  I was one of the first initiates Windows Win10 test and I found so disappointing changes that I returned to Win8.1 and have had recourse which thankfully since then.

Yes, you are sure to go to Win8.1 - and continue to use it as long as you want.

MS can update your PC to Win10, but they do this by hiding the fact that you can prevent that from happening.  Finally, upgrade Win10 icon will appear in your tray system again, and when that is done, Windows Update allows you to hide the other updates - make you think you NEED to do the upgrade, but you don't have to.

When that happens, there will be some fine print to show ALL updates.  When you click on that, you can see the level of Win10 in the list of updates.  Right-click on this update and select hide.  If he STOPS to update.

I had to do this twice for a Win7 machine to finally stop.

  • Product name: HP Pavilion 17 N: HP Support Assistant > HP updates > update BIOS (AMD processors) - clear update reminder?

    Hello

I got a recommended set the HP Support Assistant program to update update for HP Notebook System BIOS (AMD processors).  I installed the update to the BIOS but the HP Support Assistant still says I need to run the BIOS update.  So I ended that run the BIOS update 2 times more but it prompt update with the exclaimation point in the promgram HP Support Assistant to delay the update of the BIOS is always there to want me to install the BIOS update.

How can I clear this reminder of update of the HP Support Assistant program?

    You are welcome!

    1. If machine BIOS update after downloading, it will automatically start the system and show you the whole process and progress.

2 just by downloading the BIOS update does not update. However no Expert here don't advise update BIOS to do as a routine, including through HPSA.

If an UPDATE of the BIOS damage your laptop computer, you will not be able to turn on the machine - in short - it'll be no more than an expensive paper weight.

3 If the BIOS has been updated successfully, then you go and not be able to on & do your work in portable as usual.

  • Pavilion DV4: Laptop plays sound through headphones but not by internal speakers

Audio was working fine on my laptop, when suddenly the laptop would not play sound with internal speakers.  If I plug in headphones sound is fine.  Execution of control panel of configuration/sounds shows 'Speakers and dual headphone - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC' enabled and set as the default device, as well as "independent double headphones" (enabled by default but not) and 'SPDIF (Digital Out via HP docking station)' disabled.  What can be wrong?

Cure the problem by uninstalling the CODEC driver, then restart Windows then reinstalled, and now things are ok again.

  • Pavilion dv4 laptop: HP Pavilion dv4 laptop grey screen vertical lines

    (1) a couple of months there are 3 vertical lines have appeared on the left side of the laptop screen.  Then the last two weeks all of a sudden the entire screen turns into a gray color with vertical lines.  Happened three times already and don't know what to do.  Not too computer saavy (I'm a senior) and it will bring relief but I don't want to get cheated and want to be less well informed about what it could be.  Read something about a UPS (not sure what that means).  When this happens, I have of course turn off the pc, wait a few minutes and turn it back on.  Don't know what is the cause.

Maybe I should change the screen, is it expensive?

    (2) also I am on a wireless network and pages have sometimes a delay in loading or it says it is not connected.  Called my provider and they do not know what the problem is.  Six mos Fox their service has worked very well, all of a sudden it doesn't and of course they blame my pc.  If anyone knows why this would happen intermittently?

Thanks in advance. Enjoy all your help...

    Hello @maxinemaxine1,

    Thanks for the quick response!

There may be several reasons why you would have this problem.  Wise software, it can be related to malware.  Or maybe your drivers should be updated.  Hardware wise, the graphics card may be faulty. It is possible that the display cable is not correctly connected or is faulty.  It is also possible that the display on the wall it itself is damaged.  I hope this helps.

    Kind regards!
