Groan fan T61 battery... again

Eureka!  I solved the problem on my laptop!

I ended up doing three things, but I don't exactly know if all are necessary.

1 declined to 1.43 power management driver (and I only installed the driver from the Device Manager without running the Setup program).

2 supported the video driver to 6.14.10.4860 (I have the Intel).

3. completely removed the battery for a short period to ensure that the laptop was turned off completely.

I don't think you really need to do #3, but I was desperate at the time and thought that he could not quite...  I have been burned before in my work with records that keep the previous settings because they were never properly removed.

It's been fixed since a few weeks now, but I forgot to post.  I am much happier now...  Now to try and fix the Fn - Fx buttons that don't work...

  • T61 battery dead after 19 cycles?

Hey all, I'm new to the forum so please, be gentle.

I have a little problem with my T61 battery.  I usually use my system as you would for a desktop PC, which means that the battery has cycled only 19 times since I got it back in 2007.  Yesterday, the battery was perfectly fine to my knowledge.  Today, I wake up and see the light flashing orange battery.  Opening the program Power Manager tells me that my battery status is "poor".

    Here's what all he said.

    Battery information:

    Status: No activity

    Remaining percentage: 0%

    Remaining capacity: 0,00 Wh

    Full load: 42.49 Wh

    Current: 0.14 A

    Voltage: 9.68 V

    Power consumption: 1.32 W

    Temperature: 29 ° C

    Number of cycles: 19

    Manufacturer: SONY

    Manufacturing date: 2007-12-01

    First use date: 2007-12

    Serial number: 1305

    Bar code number: 1ZEAV7C118S

    FRU part number: 92 p 1141

    Unit of Chemistry: Li-ion

    Nominal capacity: 56.16 Wh

    Design voltage: 10.80 V

When I click on the button "Battery maintenance", the system stops.  No prompt "Windows is shutting down", it's as if someone pulled the plug without battery inside.

    System Stats:

    Windows 7 Edition Home Premium x 64

    6 GB of Ram

    HARD DRIVE 500 GB

    Battery stats:

    Bar code #: 1192P1142Z1ZEAV7C118S

    FRU P/N: 92 P 1141

    ASM P/N: 92 P 1142

What I don't understand, is why I only got 19 cycles of the battery.  Would it be a bad battery?  I ran the Battery Recall program to see if mine was one that was recalled, but he said that it is not.  The system never actually ran off the power to the battery for more than 20 minutes (we had a power outage because the pole transformer blew).

    Any help is appreciated.

A battery at least 20% charge remaining should be an easy score for $10 or more. If you use it to dock, he will serve only as a backup and could save your hardware and your data while keeping the system crashing in a situation of loss of power. You can then install power manager for Hibernate or shout down after that 1 min on, so your battery enough to make success must stop.

Generic batteries are another option, just do not get fakes unbranded, they tend to ignite.

  • T61 battery problem?

Hi, I have a Lenovo T61 running Win Vista Business. When I have my battery (battery OEM standard 6-cell) responsible for completely 100% then I kept the laptop on battery. As soon as the battery is about 85%, the computer puts me in mode hibernation, thinking perhaps that I have not left on battery juice. I plug the laptop on AC power and I see that my battery is down to 3%. I load up to 100% again. I have try the laptop on battery, and about 85%, the laptop into hibernation on me.

I confirmed this sequence several times. I've had my laptop since March 10, 2008, so I don't think that the battery is so old. Please someone help me.

You can find the charge cycles in the Power Manager under battery information, where it lists your first use date, battery temp, date of production, etc.

What you have described about the battery failure is quite common for Sanyo... and a lot of battery that fails look like what you described, I personally known many of these failures of the battery... IPod with Sanyo batteries like to do this... Full load for a minute, then suddenly battery dies on you without apparent warning...

  • Loud fan and battery drain, when the second user or get connected.

Hi guys, anyone knows it why the fan runs constantly and just when a second user or guest is recorded in the Macbook Air and are there patches for this problem? When I am connected, there is that no problem, the fan is quiet and the battery holds its charge!

Consider the possibility of a conflict of third party software.  Maybe run EtreCheck to get an overview of your current state of the system.

    Hello.

Take a look under the mouse and clean the optical sensor. Several times simply blow just to her.

Dust and hair builds up over time and can make irregular movement. Also, make sure the surface on the mouse moves. You can try to place it on a different surface and see if that helps too.

  • Satellite U500 - 1 6 (PSU9ME) - annoying fan turn on / off constantly

    Hello

Two days ago, I bought a brand new U500 - 1 6. One thing that is annoying, the system fan. Especially when sitting in a library, as students do sometimes...

    System information:
    CPU: intel core i5 430M - 2, 26-2, 53 GHz
    GPU: Geforce 310M
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I want the machine to shut up, so I use the eco-utility from Toshiba, where I have the cooling method: battery life. The problem is that the fan is always light up even at idle, and while I only surf the web.
I installed the PC Health monitor and idling it looks like this:
CPU temperature going from 36% to 40%, then the fan turns on and cools down to 36% more. Then there is silence for 1 minute and then the fan starts running again.

I tried several things like updating BIOS, setting the frequency of the [low] dynamic processor and using basic design of Windows 7 instead of aero.

Now, I installed a tool called SpeedFan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) and understood that it is probably the GPU causing the fan turn on. SpeedFan reports: CPU around 25 ° C temperature but the temperature of the GPU around 45-52 ° C, so when GPU reached 52 ° C the fan starts...

Would be great if toshiba could release an update of the BIOS with improved fan control. I wouldn't mind if my GPU reaches 60 ° C when I work in silence. Even tried to disable the GPU in Windows, but had no effect... :(

Anyone have any suggestions to solve this problem? Pleeaaase :)

I agree with Mihael. When you reduce laptop cooling method will work much more silent as before.
I have two Toshiba laptops and can confirm this.

For all activities of the day I recommend you use the balanced power plan and the cooling method reduced in this plan. I'm sure that you'll see the difference.

  • Lenovo G500 boots only when battery is removed

I bought a Lenovo G500 in April 2014. A few weeks ago, I noticed that it was getting hot and shut down (screening just empty and put off the power). I removed the cover and cleaned the fan and made sure that the laptop is kept in a well-ventilated.

I can only start the laptop if I remove the battery first, but after it is cooled for a few hours. Once it is started, I put the battery again. He will work a few hours and then stop again. I have an i4 with Win 8.

Anyone perhaps tell me what can I do to help? It is not under warranty more, so I'm here, GROUND.

  • Batteries with voltages different batteries are compatible and T61 T400

I ordered a battery 9 cells for my T61. When he arrived, I installed and have used it for 6 months without any notable problems. I just ordered a new reflection T400 I could interchange the batteries. All batteries agree to these two machines, but among the old T61 battery has a voltage of 14 volts, while the 6-cell battery T400 is 10.4 volts.

Can I use in my new T400 times 10 volts battery and battery 14 Volt?

Is there a chance that the computer will be damaged by the use of the higher voltage battery?

Why Lenovo does different voltage batteries that correspond to the machine even if there is a problem with one of them?

    solution: 4 batteries are 14.4 v but 6 cell batteries arer 10.8 v.

    Hello

    I own a PGG-7663

    want a 4cell battery!

to me, it looks like all 4cells = 14.4 volts

    and 6cells - 9cells = 10.8 volts

Why 4cells 14.4 volts and would it make the laptop run at higher temperature. ?

    Best regards

  • MacOs Sierra battery consumption

I have the macbook pro 13.3 mid 2012, after upgrade of Sierra battery consumption went from 6 to 7 hours to 2-3 hours and the temperature rose to 30 degrees to 70 degrees.

    What's wrong?

If this is the first time that you have enabled services iCloud photo library, iCloud Drive or Desktop & Documents storage iCloud, let your MacBook plugged into the power supply for a few nights, until it finishes loading and synchronization of all. These activities are very intensive CPU, which influences the temperature and battery usage.

Make sure you are your consumption of the battery again, once the system is set up.

  • Flash Player drain my battery?

I have a home security camera and you must install it for display on the web while I will not stay at home.  I realize that flash player drains my battery fast.  I decided to uninstall it to save my battery.  A few days later, Apple told me to update flash player with the message 'flash player was released to date. I ignored this message because I don't want to drain my battery again.  After that, I opened a Web site.  Safari does not allow me to reach the Web site, but it always appears with the link to download flash player.  I clicked on the link and install then a 'Megabackup' application is also installed in my mac. I don't know what it is and what it does.  Now I have two applications installed in my mac are megabackup and flash player.  I want to uninstall it, but I wonder if apple is asking me to update the 'flash player' again.

Apple did not update you Flash. Apple doesn't use Flash on any of its web properties, nor does it include Flash with OS X.

You clicked on a message to update flash scam. This is Commons. Flash must be updated if often that he is a prime target for con artists and the malware distributors, used to trick unsuspecting users into installing shit them instead.

NEVER download flash player from anywhere other than directly on adobe.com.

Regarding the flash causing the excessive battery use, Yes, he does. It is well documented.

    Hello

I think that the new battery must be tested, but before you do make sure you use the latest version of the BIOS
I mean its battery problem or electronic books power supply and before portable s equipment is turned on, the laptop must be tested using the new pile of work well.

  • Battery does not charge, but by Satellite Pro L510 is running in battery mode

Hi, I had a few odd battery problems these days:

I had charged my laptop completely to 100% and then used it on the train on my way home (in Windows 7 64-bit), how I got it to about 70%, shut down normally, put it in my bag and left there until I got home. When I got home, I tried to turn it on but it lights and battery light orange blinking indicating that there can be no charge. I plugged it in and it worked as usual (Linux), so don't think too hard on this subject.

Later I realized that the battery was still the load after longer that it should have been and running the acpi + (linux) command told me has the battery + charge, 0%, charge at the zero rate - will never fully charge. + I disconnected to see if it worked, and the battery lasted as usual, although always it's 0% charge rate.

I started in Windows 7, and the battery reported that it was at 68%, so I assumed it was back to normal. A while later, I noticed that he was still 68%, despite having connected for a while - at least an hour. Start on linux, acpi showed data battery normal search, except that it was 'blocked' to 68%.

I disconnected the laptop and run it as usual, and it ran until he cut; I guess with him out of power. I plugged it back in and it is 'charge' again, even if it is still 0% battery and "load at the zero rate".

Before all this happened, the battery works well - apparently to 94% of its capacity. It would be modified for a few hours unplugged play movies or games.

Summary: PC laptop battery suddenly going to works "attributed to the zero rate" and 0% complete; battery still seems to work very well, seems fresh and portable no power plugged in but the battery is not 'charging' or have his percentage of charge remaining increase.

Someone at - it ideas? I have yet to try a BIOS update, but it seems that there is one available, so I will give that a try. I feel that the problem is not the battery as the battery controller, so I don't want to invest in a new battery without knowing it, the problem will be solved.

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think you should try upgrading the BIOS
BIOS default value, and then try to charge the battery again.

    > get the impression, the problem is not the battery as the battery controller, so I don't want to invest in a new battery without knowing it, the problem will be solved.
Well, it of really difficult to tell if the battery or the mobo may be affected
In my opinion, the battery must be tested without a doubt

  • Satellite L300-1AQ - Fan switches do not properly under Linux

For L300-1AQ, the CPU fan is controlled by the BIOS. When you start the Linux machine against the cold, the fan runs at least as it should. But then nothing happens until the critical temperature is reached. At this point, the CPU fan going at maximum speed and stays there even when the air coming out is still cold. So the only way to make the rotation of the fan down once again is to restart... The startup parameter "acpi_osi =' has no effect."

This isn't a hardware problem, because the fan works well under Windows: slow and steady rotation up in States somewhere between min and max. After a few seconds slow and steady to the low towers.

This could be a roadmap dsdt buggy, which affects only Linux.

Problem is that Toshiba doesn't support this model of laptop for Linux and there is no tool available as Toshiba Power Saver for Windows power management.
Try visiting some Linux forum and discuss it.

On Linux forums, you will find the most useful information or people who might be using the same specifications with the same distribution of Linux.
