Guaranteed - just change hard drive on the Satellite A100?

Hi people,

my girlfriends A100-407 shows really bad cluster errors in Microsoft scandisk, the indexer service research plant always shortly after startup. The laptop is about 23 months, so this should be a matter for the guarantee.

Because she really need the laptop for his study, I thought to simply by changing the disk hard so that she can use the laptop again immediately after reinstalling windows. Is it possible to send just the hard drive damaged in replacement?

Thanks for the help!

The best way would be if you go to a local ASP and ask them.
They can order a new HARD drive and maybe you can get the defective HARD drive and take a new.

Of course, you can change the HARD drive by yourself if you wish. You will not lost the warranty if you change the HARD drive.

  • Can I replace the hard drive of my Satellite A100?

I have a Satellite A100 - 033 PSAANE, running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. The hard drive is 60 g. I save almost all of my data to an external hard drive, but nevertheless hard drive eventually won't have enough space for the growing number of programs that I have installed various temporary files, etc.. For example, I would like to install VirtualBox and run XP (Ido have a copy), and Linux and perhaps a few other systems operating within it, but that is likely to consume more of hard drive space I have available.

Anyone know if it is possible to get out of my existing hard drive and replace it with another of higher capacity? Is this possible?

I need to reinstall Vista on the new disc, from the emergency disk that came with the PC. I don't mind this, but will be Windows Vista "recognized" when I try to install the new hard disk?

Sorry if these questions seem naïve, but I don't know how to put a new hard drive in a laptop computer, or even if it is possible. I bought the Toshiba in February 2007, which was just after Vista had been released. I had not given the choice of XP: Vista was the only Toshiba operating system provide at this time. I was assured that a 60G hard drive would be perfect for Vista, but I have to tell you that, in my opinion, that I was wrongly advised, and that Toshiba should never have released a 60G machine for use with Vista. Where my wish to have a hard drive with a larger capacity.

Yes, you can install a larger capacity HARD drive. In my view, the A100 can take any size SATA 2.5 "HDD, so you should be able to successfully install a 250 GB or 320 GB.

In terms of Windows, you can reinstall using the Toshiba Recovery disk came with the laptop.

    Directions for use:

Remove the screws from the cover of the HARD drive based on the laptop to access the HARD disk.
    Pull the HARD drive out
Transfer media cradle of HARD drive to the new HARD disk
Slide in the new HARD drive and screw the cover of the HARD drive.
Turn on the laptop and press F12 to access the start menu.
Insert your recovery disk and choose CD icon to boot from it.
Follow the prompts to install Windows.
Connect your original HDD to the A100 using a USB adapter to restore your files/documents.

PS. Don't forget to back up your important files regularly. HARD drives can fail at any time, since they have delicate moving parts, even when new.

  • Can I use 2 hard drives on the Satellite A200-1YX

Hello, who knows if it can work 2 hard drives on the A200 1YX.
In the manual is written there are 2 locations for hard drives, but it says that for some models of Satellite A200.

Can I use 2 HDD on Satellite A200-1YX?

As mentioned by user above, different Satellite A200 series are present on the market.
Some supports 2 hard drives and some as a single HARD drive.

But both series are equipped with a second Bay I recommend you simply remove the cover plastic that holds the second HARD drive Bay and check if the HARD drive connectors are available.

  • How to install the second hard drive in the Satellite A200-1 of body weight?

I see my new Satellite A200-1 of body weight has two hard drive bays, the research in the second span, I don't see how a second drive can be mounted as the plug into the Jack seems to be missing.

What parts do I have to mount to place a second drive that they are held in stock by out of the local computer and are quite cheap, can someone advise me on part numbers etc of the bits I need.
    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello

I know that this empty place for second HARD drive is a bit confusing, but the same situation is with my A200-1CR. The fact is that some A200 models come with 2 hard drives and laptop case design this place must be prepared for this second HDD.

But this does not mean that each A200 can be improved for the second HARD drive.

  • Update hard drive to the Satellite Pro L300

Have a Satellite Pro L300 with a 120 GB hard drive, running Vista Home, the reader is divided 50-50 and does'nt Vista as to move the partition (Partition Magic does not work)...

So would like to change to a larger HD... Q / I can do this, and how hard is it? even with the recovery of files on the Partition and if I bought the Toshiba recovery disks, gruff, when the player is changed discs would not reconise the largest disk that I discovered in the past using Norton Ghost.

Upgrading the hard drive doesn't have to be the problem.
HARD drive is placed in the lower corner under the HARD drive cover. HARD drive cover is fixed by two screws. Remove the screw, then the HARD drive cover. Please do it gently. After having this deletion drive by pulling on the tab kit attached to the pack, following the direction of the arrows.

According to the specifications of the laptop you need SATA HDD and it can be upgraded up to 500 GB.
After upgrade the disk HARD use recovery DVD for installation of operating system.

    Any other questions? ;)

  • Replacing the hard drive on the satellite 1400-103

    Toshiba
    MK4313MAT

    S/N 99014292T 0T 3 EC. A

But it has not been detected, can it be fixed?
    TIA

    Hi TIA

I'm a bit confused. Your device comes with 20 GB of HARD drive. Usually, there is problem if someone wants to build in the HARD drive with a much higher capacity. The disc HARDER it who are you talking is just with 4.3 GB. Why you want to use this HARD drive on your device?

My opinion is that if you want to exchange the HARD drive, you must use the same as one with a higher capacity. This small, you can use as disk external DRIVE for backup of data.

But when I start after ejecting it appears vista is not installed correctly and I am prompted to start the installation... I tried several times but same thing happens every time.

    Hello

Yes, you can replace the hard drive with another. Make sure the hard drive fits into the machine and is a SATA drive. Otherwise it shouldn´t be a problem.

  • Hard drive on the Satellite L300-154 crash

On 28 March, the hard drive in my Toshiba L300 154 failed and wouldn't boot from the partition recovery or recovery disks.

I have installated a new HDD to be identical to the previous (just without the image) and decided to try my Windows 7 disc. I understand perfectly the requirements of Windows 7 and Vista hardware on the laptop, however, after Select preference startup screen would go black and display a PX18 M0F error message (I can't really remember the code exactly) on the device cable/media not been plugged in properly.

Check the connector on the hard drive internally so that all the other components for dry joints or fractures and all very well.

In any case, after you take out the hard drive and install on my bench development, I loaded Windows 7 above and placed in the laptop...

Now it loads up and gets to the point where you enter your password, but before you even see that VERY quickly the screen flashes a blue error screen.

Am I missing important drivers/fixes? or is there a way I can be sent 32 bit Vista OS to restore my laptop? I don't really want to buy Vista as it is a very poor operating system and I can't imagine anywhere to buy now days because there is no support for it.

    Hello

You must install OS when the HARD drive is placed in the Notepad.
Please put the laptop HARD disk, restart your laptop. Enter the BIOS settings, set it to default settings and check if the HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS.

If the HARD drive is recognized correctly, restart the computer and press F12 to get into the boot menu.
    HARD drive is it too?

Put in ODD Win7 installation disc, choose CD/DVD as a boot device and press ENTER.
Hopefully, the Win7 installation starts correctly.

  • Replacing the HARD drive on the satellite A110-252

I'm looking for a replacement of the hard drive for my laptop and I don't know which are compatible.

    I understand that I need a 2.5 "internal HDD, size 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm

However the confusion for me is above the interface, I think I understand it, is that it is a SATA interface - this correct?

.. and if so, I noticed there are SATA-150, SATA-300 & SATA II HDD, you or the other of these works to the machine?

Is this all I should which is not compatible with the laptop, for example rotation speed, he search speed, maximum size, manufacturers etc.?

    Thank you very much

    Dougie

    Hi Douglas

I understand you very well. Sometimes I m also very confused because the entire designations in the laptop world
In any case, during the search on the net I found useful information on the compatible HARD drive for your laptop.

It seems that the satellite A110-252 support SATA (serial ATA) 1.5 G interface. Most compatible hard drives support a rotational speed of 5400 RPM and that is why I recommend buy HARD drive 5400 RPM

The laptop comes with 60 GB HARD drive. Am I wrong? I think generally you should be able to use a 80, 100 and 120 GB HDD without any problem.
