What is a guest account?

A guest account is an account for users who do not have a permanent account on your computer or a domain. It allows people to use your computer without having access to your personal files. People using the guest account cannot install software or hardware, change settings, or create a password.

    1. Why is this?

I enabled/activated the account invited for a day and people with mobility reduced/turned off later. I asked before and got a response that I should not have allowed the first guest account.
    2. Why is it?
    3. What's the harm in having activated once the guest account?

Thanks in advance, forward your answers.

    Hello

A guest account allows people to have temporary access to your computer. People using the guest account cannot install software or hardware, change settings, or create a password.

Once the guest account is enabled, you will see the comments folder in the users folder and you will not be able to remove it. And when also disable you the folder of comments will be present, but it will not be enough space.

If the comments have saved any file on your computer, it will be present in the folder of comments, it won't cause damage to your other user accounts.

  • My guest user account has stopped working after the installation of several windows and IE9 updates.

I recently installed several windows and IE9 updates. During the install IE9 I stopped the installation process, because it seemed that I had two IE9 installs go. I ended up cancelling the installation so IE9 has not installed. I tried to install IE9 again and this time I can't stop installation, and it has been successful. I checked the other user profiles to make sure that everything has been installed, and that's when I noticed that my guest account wasn't just all users accounts were working well.

Whenever I try to open a program, for example: Internet explore, any Office program and even the calculator another window opens asking me to manually locate the file I'm looking for. I am able to locate the file and open it, but as soon as I close I can't reopen unless I have to manually search for the file. There is a checkbox indicating that it automatically uses this file with the program but I can't check the box (its in a light gray that I can't click on) and I don't want to manually search the file everytime I open a program. I tried using a restore point before updates, but which did not set can guest account everyone please help?

    Hello

How do ISE I only allow a connection to the guest both user account.    the real problem I have is when I give a username invited to someone, it can circulate this userid with others and multiple unauthorized guests use this unique user id to connect to the portal comments

    In any case restrict?

Limiting the guests at a Session active network

You can restrict the guests to have a single device connected to the network at a time. When clients try to connect with another device, the device is automatically disconnected from the network.

It is a global setting that affects all the portals comments.

Step 1 choose Administration > management Web portal > settings > comments > political portal.

Step 2 check the only guest session authorized by user option.

  • Guest user can deny internet?

I have an iMac 27 "a few years old 10.11.5 running. Can I set up a user called who would not have access to the internet, even if the admin would be? I need to be assured that no program on the guest user account would see the rest of the world.

Otherwise, I could create a new partition and install El Capitan on it without internet access?

It's a little a guess: If you configure a guest user and restrict access to applications - including any browser you have installed - so that no one would be able to use a browser which means that they are unable to access the internet. I have created a guest user on another Mac, some time ago and has been given a list of all the applications that I could choose whether to allow. Haven't tried lately though.

Hello Cristina, what operating system are you using?

    First try this,
    • Turn on your pc and you will get a white text and start pressing F8 on your keyboard (before the windows logo appears).
    • You get a list of options, select Safe Mode
    • Then windows will load in safe mode, you will be able to select the administrator account on here. If you have assigned a password, type it, otherwise leave blank.
    • Once you are on the account, go to the account options, select your account from the list and change the type of administrator account
    • Remove any other account that you don't need.
Then, restart your pc and reconnect again as usual.

    Method 2
I formulated a hypothesis you have Windows XP and found something that you might find useful...

What gives an account Windows XP administrator rights

Note: so that you have the right to assign a different account to the administrator group, you must be logged in as administrator or an account with administrative rights.

    Recommended method

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Double-click the icon for user accounts.
    3. Click the user account that you want to grant administrative rights.
    4. Click "change account type".
    5. Select computer administrator, and then on the button change the Type.

    Alternative method

    1. From the Windows desktop right-click on my computer.
    2. Click on manage, which should open the window management of the computer as shown below.

    3. Click on the + next to the local users and groups or double-click it. Note: If you are unable to access this section, it is likely that you have no rights of administrator on the computer.
    4. Click users, and then in the right pane, you should see all the user accounts on your computer settings.
    5. Double-click the account that you want to view the rights of.
    6. Click on the Member tab of.
    7. If the user is a member of the 'administrators' this account already has administrative rights. If this group is not listed, click the Add button.
    8. Type 'administrators', then on the button check names. If found successfully you should get your computer name \administrators followed and he stressed. For example,HOPE\Administrators.
    9. Click Ok.

After following the steps above, this account will be a member of the Administrators group and has the administrative rights on this computer.

  • Create a new user account of comments existing, and...

    Hello Microsoft community

Vista Home Premium, 64 bit, service pack 2.

I have an account administrator, my own account and a guest account installed on my PC.  The guest account user is a regular (and only) user, so many passwords, Favorites, etc. have been stored on the guest account.

Is there a way to simply rename the guest account, keeping all the passwords and bookmarks and other personal settings these are not lost; and then create a new guest account to be used by other future temporary users?

    Thanks for your help.

    DR

    Hello

    Rename the guest account

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/6754/rename-the-guest-account-in-Windows-7-for-enhanced-security/

This can be useful if you want to change the name of the administrator or guest user accounts to minimize the risk of misuse of these accounts. It is always associated with the SID of comments to the registry in order not to lose your settings.

  • Access to the internet via 'comments' or another user account

When I try to access the internet via the "guest" account, I get the message... "Internet explorer has stopped working"... and I can't accest internet from any other account on this computer, except the administrative account or 'guest'.  What gives?

You mean any other admin account or standard account?
