    Hello

The default icon for the program appears in the Notification area when an application places an icon there. You would need to change the default icon.

Contact the manufacturer of that application on how to achieve this.

Being anoyed by the GWX-icon - and related unacceptable usage of my disk space and bandwidth (it has already reached 5GB of Win10 - junk and my SSD was almost full) - I tried to remove my system Win7 GWX. First I found 5 occurrences of the GWX.exe file (and some other files on) on my drive, after application of the GWX Panel I had up to 2 and the app is no longer active (and 5 GB of space free!). The use of some doesn´t of Mo wrong, but it looks a lot like a security breach - I m unable to delete these files & folders from the disk, even I m not able to change the security settings for these files.

    Thanks in advance!

You must take possession of these files or folders, then you give a full read/write access. It may be necessary to do with the commands in the console (takeown.exe and icacls.exe) while Windows Repair Mode.

  • I can't get rid of ccSvcHst.exe in the list of icons in notification area.

I can't get rid of ccSvcHst.exx in the list of icons in notification area.  He indicates that he belongs to Norton Internet Security.  My new computer came with Norton on it.  Natch.  First things to get out were three Norton programs.  The free 60 day trial of Norton internet Security, Norton backup program and VIP access.  I used the function uninstaller in the control panel of Windows 7 sp 1.  When I noticed this ccSvcHst.exe in the list of the notification icons, I guessed that it was a case of undesirable residue left by Norton, so I used the removal tool mentioned on this site.

    http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20080710133834EN&LN=en_US

But ccSvcHst.exe is always in the list of icons in notification area.  And I wonder how much other stuff hidden Norton is still on this new computer.  I would appreciate any advice on how to get rid of it.  There may be a third party removal tool that is safe and not provided by Norton that could be more complete.

This icon has disappeared a long time ago and I don't do that now something to this subject.  I think that Windows Defender actually starts and runs in the background on boot-up top (I could be wrong here) but the icon does not appear in the system tray and MSASCui.exe does not appear in the processes tab unless I manually start Windows Defender after each reboot.

Any assistance in obtaining the Windows Defender icon to always appear in the system tray after every reboot will be greatly appreciated.

    I thank in advance.

    Use this tutorial:

Go directly to the third method,

    2. for the Volume icon.

    (B) to activate the Volume - icon Enable_Volume.reg< click="" to="">

Then follow the instructions from #5 to #9.

Don't forget to restart the computer to perform the procedures.

Note: If someone you said to disable all Windows applications, using a method first, it's trash.

Go directly to the method three which applies to all versions of Vista, and it is also the simplest method.

  • Current Volume icons, network, disappear from the notification area.

I know that microsoft has heard this problem many times that I read many forums to ask this question.
    I went to this link
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/945011
and used the microsoft fix and it worked for a few weeks, but then the icons disappeared again.
I tried the Microsoft fix it once more and restarted my computer, but it did not work.
so I tried to fix it manually by removing the two registry subkeys, restart explorer.exe, and then I restarted my computer.
still no effect. I also understand that the icons disappear only on this computer user, the user can see the icons in the notification area.

If this happens only to a single user...
You might want to try to create a new profile for this particular user. The profile may be damaged.
