HA does not restart the computer from the virtual machine
Hello
I have two ESX in a cluster. ESX 1 have an XP machine. When I stop esx 1, the machine automatically goes to ESX 2 and has not restarted?
I though that the machine needs to be restarted, but it does not restart. Is it supposed to the case that it does not restart?
TKS
Hello
The virtual machine power on or off the power on esx2?
What will HA is to turn off the XP on ESX1 when it is isolated from the network (which means unable to ping the default gateway) then ESX 2 will import and turn it on. Therefore, this
will require a reboot. You must set the response of isolation to "turn off" so that it works. The easist HA of test is to unplug the network cable from the service console. This
will trigger the isolation.

HP Support Assistant on my laptop or desktop does not detect the other machine.
HP Support Assistant on my desktop or my laptop does not detect the other machine. They are both on the same network. Both are HP machines. Both are running Windows 10. Is normal. I would like to kind of monitor my desktop with my laptop when I'm away from home.
The behavior you describe is normal - the HP Support Assistant is a program "per computer", in other words, each program HPSA lies and keeps track of just a computer on which the program is installed.

So last night I wanted to power off of the host, while I lived my usual steps:
(1) stop my os of burst (# shutdown - h now)
(2) even worksation vmware (file - & gt; exit)
(3) stop start vista (not "suspend" but the real stop turn off the power).
(4) visa bluescreened. Now she is doing this every so often, so I thought that it would be
a big deal.
(5) this morning I tried to turn on the virtual machine and I got the 'not a virtual disk' error.
My best guess at this point is the bluescreen stopped some write cache to be

As it seems that instant 36 is not used so far - I was just going to throw it away and try again.
To do this, you would change the line vmx file

TO
scsi0:0. FileName = 'suse11.2_x64 - cl1 - 000035.vmdk.
and then try to restart the virtual machine. If that works then remove all the

We plan to go forward with a single dual-port HBA in each of our ESX servers. My concern is that the HBA becomes a single point of failure. HA supports restarting the virtual machine which lose connectivity to back-end storage. We did some testing and it does not appear that HA does not handle this. Even when 'enable us VM monitoring' the machine virtual do not restart on other ESX servers in the cluster that they hang just basically. I've read a few articles which seem to indicate that it should work, but I'm not able to get there. Any thoughts there?
HA checks the availability of default ESX host. There is an option to monitor the heartbeats reviews, as well. Maybe this will do, but sometimes a guest still works for awhile even if the disk is lost. And as for a long time VMware tools send heartbeats...

Monitoring VM - how to restart the virtual machine
Hi all
Hit a problem in our environment that can not be solved, but wanted to tender hand to people and see if they have found a way to replace.
Currently have followed vm enabled in our cluster. Thing is watching us to restart the virtual machine VMware tools demonstrated to a status of "not running" - now, the key is to most of the definitions, the system is available in this case, can be crazy, RDP'ed etc, but we here again them restarted as he finally solves the issue we see (for example unable to connect via citrix for the machines in question)
Duncan in the post below highlights in order to avoid false positives any i/o to storage/network activity will be verified after that heatbeats failed to "double check" there is a problem with the virtual machine
Favorite VM monitoring (aka VM HA) - yellow bricks
What I asked is it possible to replace verification of network storage/IO activity and then restart the virtual machine VMware tools on them stops as soon as?
Many tx for all thoughts
«.. . is there a way to replace check network activity of storage/IO and then restart the virtual machine of VMware tools on them stops as soon as...? »
You can always use a supervision-process inside the virtual machine for this tool (perhaps more followed VM). It acts independently and allows much finer control, i.e. it can try first (re) start vm-tools before restarting. Same BSOD /-kernel panic can be dealt with by VM itself. It can actually be even more robust, not dependent on VMware infrastructure.

Could not open the virtual machine
I used the customer convertor to create this virtual machine from one which works well on ESxi. When I try to open on Win7-64 machines running vmplayer 3.1.4 I get the following error:
Could not open the virtual machine: file "D:\Data\VM Machines\WW S2008_32\WW S2008_32.vmx 10_1 10_1" line 1: syntax error.
Any ideas?
"" "WW 10_1 S2008_32.vmx.zip" attached file contains the "WW 10_1 S2008_32.vmx" file created under VMware Player 3.1.4 and was then modified to reflect the values of parameter that you might want to stay the same as uuid etc. Start VMware Player and then check the settings before running the virtual machine.

Impossible to get 'notes' of the virtual machine
I tried to use a powershell script to get information from the virtual machine. I can get VMHost, VMname and GuestVersion using the script in the following, but failed to get the notes of the virtual machine. Anyone know why I can't get notes, please help me with that. Thank you in advance.
report = @)
foreach ($vmView in (Get-View - ViewType VirtualMachine))
{
$report += $vmView. Select-Object @{Name = "$vmhost"; Expression = {($vmView.Runtime.Host Get-View).} Name}},
@{Name = "VMName"; Expression = {$_.} Name}},
@{Name = 'Notes'; Expression = {$_.} Description}},@{Name = "GuestVersion"; {Expression = {$vmView.Guest.GuestFullName}}
}
$report | Sort-Object VMName-descending | Export-Csv "d:\vm_GuestVersion.csv" - NoTypeInformationThere is no need to do it with the cmdlet Get-View.
You can do
$report = @()foreach ($vm in Get-VM){ $report += $vm | ` Select-Object @{Name="VMHost"; Expression={($_.Host).Name}}, @{Name="VMName"; Expression={$_.Name}}, @{Name="Notes"; Expression={$_.Description}}, @{Name="GuestVersion"; Expression={$_.Guest.OSFullName}}}$report | Sort-Object VMName -Descending | Export-Csv "d:\vm_GuestVersion.csv" -NoTypeInformation
If you want to do with the cmdlet Get-View for any reason, you can do
$report = @() foreach ($vmView in (Get-View -ViewType VirtualMachine)) { $report += $vmView | ` Select-Object @{Name="VMHost"; Expression={(Get-View $vmView.Runtime.Host).Name}}, @{Name="VMName"; Expression={$_.Name}}, @{Name="Notes"; Expression={$_.Config.Annotation}}, @{Name="GuestVersion"; Expression={$vmView.Guest.GuestFullName}} } $report | Sort-Object VMName -Descending | Export-Csv "d:\vm_GuestVersion.csv" -NoTypeInformation
But note that as you need a view of the GET each time for the host name, performance will suffer.

Stage of JavaFX Builder 1.0 error: could not create the Virtual Machine Java.
Hello
I have installed JavaFX scene Builder under Windows 7 x 32. The installation process is OK, but when I try to launch the app it crashes and displays an error that says:
"Error: could not create the Virtual Machine Java.".
Error: A fatal error has occurred. Program will exit. »
I installed JVM 7u5, JDK 7u5, JavaFX SDK 2.1.1 JavaFX 2.1.1 (Java EE JDK + Glassfish) I would be grateful if someone could tell me if there is something missing. I reinstalled almost all software java several times, but without success.
Kind regards!
Published by: 942925 on June 26, 2012 10:23Hello
This message appears usually when the JVM cannot allocate sufficient memory. It may be the consequence of the stage Builder set - Xmx1024m command line: this is currently followed by default TLD-4515 and will be fixed in the next few weeks.
For the time being you can give a try on a system with more memory. Moreover, what is your current hardware configuration?

Windows 2003 x 64 R2 ISO does not recognize the virtual disk
I managed to try to install a VM guest with w2k3 x 64 R2 ISO. All the research that I did, ISO should have the 64-bit LSI SAS driver in the HCL. When installing, I get "the installation program can't find not all hard drives. I tried to use the most recent vmscsi .flp 1.2.0.4 and received an error that the vmscsi.sys is 64-bit capable not. I am convinced that the LSI driver on my w2k3 x 64 R2 ISO cd is not compatible with controller LSI SAS of ESX 4.1. There is a new download of the Microsoft Eopen site.
Host Dell R710
12 GB of ram
2 x Quad Core Intel.
ESXi 4.1 (downloaded 12 hours ago)
I've got 3 VMs successful running, which is 2008 x 64 (which was installed without a hitch).
I guess the fix will be "slipstreaming" the correct 64 x driver for LSI SAS controller. If you can point me in the right direction... I would really appreciate it!
Also - Another strange thing that has is passed, then the creation of the virtual machine, I went into options and noticed he returned the base for 2008 x 64 statndard OS. I had to change it back manually and click on apply.
As far as I know, the default controller for any edition of Windows 2003 is "LSI Logic", the "LSI Logic SAS" is the default value for Windows 2008. If you create a virtual Windows 2003 computer with the 'LSI Logic SAS' driver, you may need to add the driver during installation or inject it into the installation source. You can find the driver on http://www.lsi.com/storage_home/products_home/standard_product_ics/sas_ics/lsisas1068/index.html . You can also extract from the VMware Tools CD.
However, the easiest way is to use the 'LSI Logic' controller when you create the virtual machine.

Could not enumerate the virtual machines that are used as models
Hey guys,.
I have a simple script that collects information from a virtual computer. Unfortunately, I'm getting a lot of mistakes, he doesn't pull out information if the virtual machine is used as a model.

the output current is like that.

Block of VMWare workstation to restart the virtual machine
Hi all...
I use vmware workstation 9.0.2 on a machine running windows 7 Professional (64 bit) on any domain.
the problem is that: when I reboot whole VM (windows/linux), vmware stop working a present the home screen (with options F2, F12, ESC)... at this time, all orders (average, suspend, reset) does not work... I need to manually complete the vm procecess - ware.exe, remove *.lck items and restart the physical machine...
If I stop the virtual machine, all work without problems...
any ideas?
Hi riccimaticand welcome to the VMware communities!
Try disconnecting the virtual CD/DVD drive. It seems that there are situations in which problems arise to restart a guest, operating system while its virtual optical drive is connected. The most common cause is using MagicDisc/MagicISO on the host, which is known to cause exactly the problem you describe.
See you soon,.

I thought I knew what I was doing, but apparently not...
I agree
Two a problem with the new drive.
- You get the error message comes from the basic disk with a different size than the disks of the snapshot.
- With a size of 256 GB, you will not be able to create snapshots of the disk (on ESXi prior to 5.0 with a block size of 1 MB)
What you can try to do is to edit the file PJAEast - DL01_1.vmdk :
- 536870912 VMFS 'PJAEast-DL01_1 - flat hard' RW--> RW 70943040 VMFS 'PJAEast-DL01_1 - flat hard. "
- DDB. Geometry.Cylinders = "33418'-> ddb.geometry.cylinders = '4416.
After that, I would recommend to clone the virtual disk to a new one, replace the virtual disk in the virtual machine settings and resize it to a maximum of 254GB (see "calculates the time system required by the snapshot files" at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1012384)
- vmkfstools-i PJAEast-DL01_1 - 000003.vmdk PJAEast - DL01_1a.vmdk
