"Hang on" to restart software updates

Hi guys,.

I was unable to update software on my iMac for about a year now (I bought about 5 years ago).

Everything's fine until I restart it so updates take effect. Reboot screen "blocks" (I left for 12 + hours and it was still suspended) and he does not actually restart, and so software was not updated.

I tried a few things like deleting files in a folder "library", as recommended in a forum of the iMac, but not joy.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
PETA

Need additional info. What iMac? What version of Mac OS x? What you are trying to update?

  • Older A1138 Office do not restart after software update?

I have worked on an old Mac Office since last night, think that the owner said it is a model of A1138, do not see anything in the associated model anywhere on the unit. The OSX Snow Leopard loaded very well so I ran the software update, but after that he showed that is was downloaded and restarts, it seems being stuck at this time, should I shut down and restart or how much time should I wait please?

Sorry to not give more details. Guy brought this machine for me yesterday. He said his tenant that moved did not have to take this very old and heavy machine for him, then the tenant given to him. The owner however gave him the unit without the disc hard OSX but hard left 2 discs in there for him. So, I loaded 10.6.3 original CD-ROM from Apple on this topic. I'm trying to upgrade from 6.3 to 6.8, but after he showed that the updates have been downloaded and restarts, it seems to be stuck at this time here with just the 'outer space and stars' screen purple color, should I shut down and restart or how much time should I wait please?

  • BlackBerry Z10 Z10 "Please wait while your device is the software update and restart"

Sorry if this question has been asked elsewhere but I searched and could not find an answer the applies to my particular situation.

I have a Z10 on Bell who got an automatic update this morning (I have no note of my operating system version number or the version that I was updating to) and the phone is locked to the prompt "Please wait while your device is the software update and restart."  Update messages said it would take a lot of time and that I should connect my phone if it was less than 20% of battery.

The Bell's Web site indicates that the version of the software is 10.3.2.2168 and the latest version of the OS is 10.3.2.2252.  I don't know how many times this site is updated, but I guess that's the version that I am trying to update?

The phone is not fixed... I can see messages turn on the lock screen and interact with the phone to get a glimpse of these messages, but if I try to unlock the phone, the message block appears above any function, I tried to launch (whether a text message, the camera, an email, etc) and I can't interact with the phone at that time otherwise than to lock again and open the lock screen up.

At the time wherever I drag, the prompt.

The prompt on the phone for about 6 hours now.  The battery was full this morning and had exhausted 70%, but I've since plugged.

I have not tried a batt pull because I'm afraid of the consequences of this action after the launch of the update.

Everyone knows this and had the phoen back? I know that 6 hours is well past any reasonable wait times in my books and was strongly tempted to restart the device... but is there here experts who recommended that I continue to wait?

I forgot to mention that the power button was still working to give the ability to power off the unit.

In the end, I couldn't wait any longer.  I put off the device "no risk" with the power button, rather than using the battery pull method.  I turned on the camera back later and the blackberry logo appeared.  The screen faded faded black and no lights appeared on the phone.

I could hit to swipe down to get the blackberry logo to return to the screen, but no startup loading progress screen never wouldn't come.

I could never get to the home screen, but the phone was actually 'ON' below.  I could call the phone and it should sound, but there is no visual indication that the phone was working and there was no way to respond.  Sliding down to unlock simply revealed the word "blackberry" in the middle of the screen.

I did a Batt pull and this time, the logo appeared as before, but disappeared forever... and then the progress of boot screen appear.

The words 'from 10 Blackberry OS' were visible on the bottom and rotate it beween this and "install updates".

Start-up took a LOT of time (15-20 minutes?) but after that, everything was fine.

Displayed software update version information and it is indeed updated to 10.3.2.2168.

  • Windows Update crashes to install malicious software update 20 of 23

I was working on a computer, Windows XP Home Edition for a friend who was infected malware and had not been turned on since December.  I removed 135 malware and then decided to do the Windows updates.  Initially, he could get an IP address even when I put a static... I did some research and followed the instructions to recover from deformation of Winsock2.   Then I got on the Internet to make the updates of Windows.

It hung for more than 3 hours on software update 20 malicious 23... I didn't write any extra info - sorry.  I said to cancel updates and went back to bed. 4 hours later he said always Cancel updated so I hard booted the computer.  I couldn't bring up the Task Manager, nothing would happen.

Now when you click on a user, it hangs on loading personal settings or it go to the desktop, but you cannot open Internet Explorer or run programs.  You can click on start running, but if you type a command (cmd, regedit, msconfig) and click OK nothing happens.  If you try to restart in Mode safe mode using F8, and then select Safe Mode it will get as many load windowss\system32\drivers\agp440.sys, then he tells you the computer wasn't shutdown correctly and ask you to select the Mode.  I tried the Safe Mode, Safe Mode with network, Safe Mode command prompt, and I still can't mode without failure.   I also tried the last good known Configuration and that doesn't work anymore.

Finally I put a Windows XP Home CD into the CD player and I got it to boot from the CD Rom it says its inspection system for quite a long time and then it asks you to insert the Windows XP Home Service Pack 1 disc (that's all I had) CD and press.  I hit enter and I'm in a loop.

I can also do a start, stop, or restart, it just sits there.  I have to restart from the CPU.

Any ideas where I'm going from here?

  • Unable to control upgrade: an error occurred when checking for a software update, and the only option is to cancel or retry...

I bought this iPhone 6 + about 4 weeks ago, today, I saw that there was an iOS updated 9.3.3. I was able to update my iPhone to work 5 sec, but not my iPhone6 +. I don't have a phone to jailbreak and current iOS is 9.3.2.  I googled the question and I tried these:

    1. You can try to update your software via iTunes. Your software update may fix this problem.

2 settings > Wi - Fi and turn off Wi - Fi, and then click New.

    3. restart your iOS device.

4 reset network by tapping settings settings > general > reset > reset network settings.

    5. change your DNS settings. To do this, simply tap Settings > Wi - Fi, then tap the blue arrow next to your existing Wi - Fi network. Press the 'DNS' field and enter the DNS servers; 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (Google Public DNS). After that, try a software update.

I tried these that none worked.

Thanks for the help in advance!

    Hello Anshul230499,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If a download was interrupted in the Mac App Store, then whenever you have new Internet download should then restart.

If a download application is interrupted

Once an Internet connection is restored, your purchased downloads should restart automatically. The Mac App Store may warn you that there is a problem with the download and ask if you want to restart downloads. Confirming will restart all pending downloads.

Download time may vary according to the size of the file and the speed of your Internet connection. See this article on purchases made on iTunes Store for more information on the time to download large files.

    Troubleshooting the Mac App Store

    Take care.

On your iPhone, close the watch application as well as all other open applications (press twice on the Home button, drag up on each of the app previews).

Remove the magazine from your watch and restarting both devices, both turning off and then restarting your iPhone first.

-To switch off your watch: press and hold the button side until you see the cursor off the power; slide it to turn off.

Here are the steps I followed

    -Click on "about this Mac",

    (2) restart the Mac by pressing the 4 following keys [Option], [order], [P], [R] and wait for the Bell to ring twice.

Have you tried to do it from the app store? Lancement launch of the app store, and then select the Store menu and verify that you see 'View my account ' and make sure that it contains your apple ID. Then click the icon for updates at the top of the screen. Don't you see the update of the system of exploitation that are listed there? If so, click on the button to update and see if it works. If you do not see the update, return to the Store menu and select "logout". Return to the menu, then connect you using your Apple ID. See if that makes a difference. Good luck!

  • Not able to install software-update

    Hello

After that my Macbook Pro (2008) is crushed at the time, the original version of OS X was installed (10.5.8). To upgrade to El Capitan, I discovered that first of all, I had to buy the update of Snow Leopard, so I installed yesterday to version 10.6.3. But I still have to go up to at least 10.6.6 to install El Capitan, so I tried the software update.

Now the problem: I can do the software update, and then he said to restart my computer. If I click on reboot and the system closes, but then maintains the display of the original with the purple cloud and stars background, but it does not continue. I don't see any dock or anything, just the bottom. I have the same problem if I just shut up and want to manually restart (it is not closing completely, just shows the background).

I can restart and then clicking CTRL cmd + button on / off, but I don't see no update software (always 10.6.3). If I don't do the software update and restart normally without the update, it is not a problem to restart, which normally. Looks like something is wrong, when it wants to install updates...?

    Can anyone help please?
