  IE brand disks: Seagate, WD, and a few others provide the software with the package of disk or from the Web site that allows cloning on the same drive size, but for a larger drive.  Acronis will be similar.  As long as the size of the disk is not unreasonable, they do it quite easily.  Depending on the age of the system, however, some may not tolerate the readers more great or the more recent huge 2 TB.

  2. my computer-> right click on your Local C drive-> properties-> tools-> disk cleanup.

  If you have downloaded Thunderbird to new pc and run it for the first time, it will create a profile, but do not create the exisitng e-mail accounts. Then you copy the contents of the old drive hard e: drive - profile folder (not the folder real profile, that all the files in the profile folder) and paste them into the profile folder overwrite the default files.

  I have a laptop Lenovo I had to replace a hard drive, and Windows 7.  I've been able to do and got going, or so I thought.  I went to use the cd/dvd drive and nothing.  Looking at the Panel control does not show a d: / at all.  Device Manager shows a drive. (I think)  He said same drive works fine on the Properties screen.

  Any ideas on how to get it working or back?  Or should I go to ebay and get an external hard drive?

  Hi, windows told me recently there is a problem with my hard drive and that I would back up my data to an external storage device, in case it fails, but don't want to backup my files because they aren't important. When I tried to access file Explorer the next day I got the warning my computer froze.   If you are still able to boot from the Windows 7 Desktop on the current hard drive, try to create a set of recovery disks. See the instructions in the following article:
