Hard drive Alienware

So, I was looking at the specs on the alienware page and it says that the hard disk for the alienware alpha is 7200 RPM. But it was originally 5400 RPM. This changed?

Its quite possible.  It seems they recently did a refresh of the line of the laptop at least.

  • (Redirected) Alienware x 51-replace defective HARD drive help Pls...

OK, so my x 51 (R1) Blue I screened yesterday and I did my head in an attempt to resolve this... Finally I threw in the towel and decided to factory reset the Player - did not help.  Bought a new drive today and I tried to do a clean of win10 install-I don't have a recovery disk so I used my drive recovery my laptop (XPS-15) and now my office (x 51) think that this is a laptop... so when I go into settings it shows me the CPU in my laptop and my laptop windows product key... This isn't good.

In the BIOS it still shows X 51, but everything on the new HARD drive shows my laptop recovery info - I thought of widows would detect the info office and adjust - clearly that has not happened.  I tried to boot my windows 10 USB (supplied with my edit on win10 I bought..) and the PC says that it does not find the HARD drive (although I say it can boot from USB...)-when I use my XPS15 USB recovery that works very well.

    So long story short.

    1. how to do a clean install of Windows 10 on my X 51? even if the system came came with Win8.

    2. clean install to win 10 show the good stuff "Alienware" on my computer that was there before?

    3. using a Win10 USB does not work - it keeps giving me the error message that says "drive HARD internal not found to fix this problem, try reinstalling the drive. No bootable devices"- is when I have the win10 USB provided with a brand new version on Windows in USB? I don't get it... to clarify the USB ONLY it recognizes is the USB of recovery I did for my XPS15 - its as it only recognizes the other dell stuff only... very frustrating

    4. How can I get my drivers for the NIC for my X 51? My xps15 has no ethernet port port has therefore had no need for drivers - so I guess that the recovery has not installed the drivers ethernet either... Cannot access the internet atm

    5. any other help to get my x 51 work as if it were would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Now, to get the system working I need a new hard drive 1 TB (easy to find) and also the drive cage hard 3.5 "who maintains secure hard drive but it is not as easy to find. Someone know where I can buy one from or have one I could buy off them?

    Hi Mute321,

There is nothing that prevents you from upgrading your hard drive for any other hard drive for laptop (2.5 "). All the parts and cables are standard and must adapt to the new order. However, you'll need either clone the old drive to the new or reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

I don't want to update the same GI OS not sure how or if I do how it update windows 10 times

    Any tips?

    Hello

We recommend to Flash the BIOS with the latest version firmware, click here for the download link. The AlienFX question, the Alienware Command Center application. Restart the system and install again, click here for the download link. You can also try running an ePSA/Diagnostics test to check the hard disks. • (Redirected) Alienware Aurora R4 - replacement hard drive failed by disk image

I went to the Dell website and ran the diagnostics for my R4 Aurora. He said that the hard drive had no 2 tests. So, Dell quickly sending a hard drive 2 TB of replacement. I received it today. The bag of the hard drive has a sticker that says "image". I guess that means that a new installation of my Windows 7 Ultimate factory has been installed on the hard disk. I did not receive any instructions, except to say that I need to replace the failed hard drive and return it within 30 days. OK, I can do the physical dominance, but there are a lot of questions, I feel unanswered.

Where are the instructions step by step to do this?

Should I get the ID product, s/serials for Windows 7 and office products that I have on the old drive?

Someone please point me in the right direction. My warranty includes no cat, and Facebook and Twitter are not my best subjects when it comes to getting help.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. The moderators of Dell, plese chime and let me know as well.

    Thank you

  • (Redirected) Alienware X 51 R2 will not start. Repair of the system sees no HARD drive

    Hey,.

My X 51 died and I can't get it to work. Looking for suugestions.

After months of random boot errors and re-formatting my HARD drive a few times it will not start upward. It starts either error that says "no found boot device" or it goes to a screen of "diagnosis" of dell alien ware which basically ends with a message saying either

    -reboot again

-Advanced options > recovery cd, repair, ect.

When I try to use the windows recovery CD 7 he does not see HARD drive (no HARD drive installed, that it is, I reinstalled it a few times too to make sure it was not a coward).

-J' have a HARD drive, usb drive, and when I took out the HARD drive I can access my files NP via laptop, so I'm not confident, that's my HARD drive which * out.

Now, before all this happened, I had to reformat my computer because it was literally so slow it would take like 5 minutes to open a folder (potential virus or something I don't know) and me random boot errors.

Someone at - he had a similar experience?

  • I have problem with my hard drive on my alienware laptop mx14 r2

    I have a problem with my alienware mx14 r2...

with the error... on the hard drive... which I can't get into windows 8.1...

I did a restore on it n lost all my files include restoration to factory setting...

now... my hard drive looks like can fail at any time...

I'm looking to change my hard drive... but do I need to take note of? I mean the size of the thickness of the disc or your hard drive model... as I see it a lot after State of a 7mm disc...

and for costs, install windows 8... I don't have the Disc... because it comes with the version of preinstallation. I don't have the product key... I buy a new one from the windows key...

hope someone can guide me to Thursday. Thank you very much

Windows 8 and above have info on the motherboard which will see you put Windows 8 x hard disk and if same sys op you precrash, it will authenticate it and you'll be fine.  You should never buy sys op on windows 8 and especially if you put same op sys on new hard drive.

When I start my computer it really takes a lot of time for anything to be taken and eventually I get a blue screen and the process restarts itself. So after a few violins and research, I found out how to run diagnostics.

That's what I got when my hard drive failed the test

    Error code: 2000-0142

    Validation: 70303

Please help, it's been a few months since it happened to save enough money to get a new hard drive. I just bought 3 Witcher in time and I'm sick of not being able to play you will understand my urgent need for assistance.

    Hello

Unfortunately, this error can mean a hardware failure with the hard drive. The recommended procedure is to replace the hard drive. If your system is under warranty, send me a PM with your service tag to get help.

  • Alienware M14x crashes hard drive

I have a m14x and I just froze. I restarted, but then I got a message saying no bootable device detected. I ran the windows repair option by pressing F12 and it does not load. I takes me just restart and give me the same message. No bootable device detected. Now when I open the menu by pressing F2 it says there are 2 bootable devices. CD/DVD and network. It does not list the hard drive. When I installed my recovery disk to restore the original image it that to install a HD with a less than 2 GB of memory. So what is a hard drive failure, or can it be something else?

Well, I ran the black in my XPS M1530 and seen on innprovment of 15% in ADO time ect... more stock Seagate... It's a quick drive, I know that the Seagate XT hybrid is another nice drive but I have no experience with it since it has embedded ssd cache

  • 32GB PCI-E SSD Drive Alienware M18X R2 hard

Is it possible to update this internal hard drive to a larger? 7C4P7 Solid State Drive, 32, S3, FULL, MCARD, PM830 is this just for the windows operating system? I've added another hard drive to my RAID 0 system and it shows as 960 Gig, but I have 3,500 as GIG discs inside. Windows 7 64 bit has a limitation or is the computer which is not allowing all show?

I'll answer my own question on that. Yes, it is possible to upgrade the drive internal mSata for greater. I bought one with a transfer disc which worked perfectly. It is a cache drive. I use it now as the program startup disk and windows system. It may contain larger, but I put in a concert of 256 just because I wanted to only use for windows and basic programs. It only supports 3 G/S. Acronis Disk director suite is what I used for all transfer from one disk to the other programs. It has worked flawlessly. After the transfer, I had to go to the Bios and make sure you that he has been installed as the cable near the memory had loosened or was never properly installed at the factory, that's why it was appearing once again not in the bios, and retouch, remove the back and track area of chip memory, make sure just the wire is broken inside and make the transfer with Acronis. Regarding the Raid 0 configuration. I discovered the hard way, do not attempt to remove a raid Array Disk 0. It erases everything, however, I am not dissatisfied with removing the RAID 0 I am more interested in speed if I lose programs if something happens. I use my computer for gaming and I installed all SSDS to replace those mechanical and they are so much faster, that's amazing. Do good backups and the Acronis has great software backup disk to copy what you want on a different drive, if you are concerned about the loss of information. It's also like a 'TRIM' for the SSD which will clean up unused or wasted on your SSD space and let it run longer. Passage to the SSD and the drive for greater internal capacity mSata was definitely the best thing I've done with this computer so far.

  • Going to replace my hard drive, I'm unable to use my OEM of Windows Vista 32 - bit with the new drive copy?

I plan to replace my current hard drive (which is functional, but not surprising in the first place) with a Solid State drive, which will help to my Alienware Area-51 m9750 notebook.  I find a reader fully compatible solid state, but I'm not there purchase Alienware.  I'm currently under Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit), and I still have the recovery DVD used to reinstall the operating system.  I reformatted my hard drive several times using this disc, each time that the deletion of the whole score and starting from scratch.  Every time I did it, I'm never asked to activate my copy of windows, mysteriously turned on when I boot on my new install of Windows for the first time, without even plugging the cable Ethernet first, and my house has no wireless network.

I wonder, if/when I install a new hard drive, will have a different experience somehow in regards to Windows activation?  I'm unable to use my OEM of Windows copy at all?  Alternatively, my windows mysteriously will activate itself without ever seeing the internet as it does now?

I love installing Windows and then do not need to activate it, and I hope I have that experience when I install my new hard drive.

I just want to know what to expect in terms of my ability to use my copy of Vista OEM, and what process I have to go through to make it fully functional.

    Thank you very much!

The physical hard disk (solid state or record) is not serious for the operating system that is installed on.  As long as the drive is a standard interface and does not require special drivers not work (and most don't), you should have no problem.

The recovery disks you are using are set to read specific information about the motherboard and as long as there is this particular information, that it is looking she will be triggered and doesn't have to go online to activate as the retail of Windows is required to do.  The only problem with this type of activation, it's that if the motherboard fails ever it should be replaced with a similar brand and model or autonomous activation fails and the operating system is an OEM version that is related to this motherboard and cannot be enabled on a newer replacement.
  • Get Windows on my new hard drive

    Hi all

My old hard drive had some problems and he unfortunately passed away. I'm going through data recovery because I wasn't able to back up all files.

However, I also get a new hard drive (SSD this time) and I need a Windows installation file to put Windows on it. I have an Alienware 17. I understand that the product key is in the BIOS itself, but I need to get a setup file of Windows 10. I checked the drivers and downloads Support Page section, but there doesn't seem to be there.

Finally, when I get it, all I need to do is to disable Secure Boot, right?

    Thanks for your time!

You can download Windows 10 of Microsoft as an ISO and then download the drivers from Dell.

  • X 51 - R2, BSOD, internal hard drive not found

I get a blue screen on average once a day telling me that it is a: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR until the computer tries to restart bring me to a black screen saying that the internal hard drive is not found. Turn off the computer and restart it solves the problem and the computer works well until the next blue screen. The first time that this happened was right, once I had configured Windows 8 and was about to enter the control panel. It happens literally just out of the blue, often when you make simple and menial tasks. I ran all the Dell diagnostics and apparently everything is fine. Again, as mentioned in the title, it is a brand new Alienware X 51 R2; I unpacked it a week ago.

If anyone else has had this problem, and if you have, did you find a solution?

I have been in dialogue with the technical support and ultimately the motherboard and HARD drive had to be replaced. This seems to fix the problem and the computer runs great now without any problem whatsoever.
