Hard drive changed as a result of a warranty repair service

Hello

I would like to ask you a question, because I noticed something weird when I got my laptop back from a repair under warranty service.

I have a Satellite X 200-249 and 6 months-ish after purchase, I had some problems with it. First of all, I thought it was only a problem with the graphics card, but in fact, they also changed the hard drive. The thing is, it originally was a HD with a 5400 RPM (specifications on the Web from Toshiba site) and they put a HD "Toshiba MK2035GSS', which has a 4200 RPM and seems to be a little 'cheap' on comments I've seen online, how it performs in a laptop.

How do you feel about this? As for me, I think they put some HD cheap instead of the original one and thought that it would go unnoticed (they told me it's another type of HD).

Thanks for your thoughts...

I agree with Akuma. You, as a customer, have a right to be fully informed on the repair and parts. If you are not satisfied please contact new service and explain the situation.

Just tell them you want to have the same HDD as before.

  • Keyboard and HARD drive change affect the warranty?

    Hello

I need to find an answer asap & Toshiba CS are closed until tomorrow, but perhaps a little late for me.

I am looking to buy a Toshiba C75, which has about 6 months warranty left on it.

The seller said they bought the laptop in Switzerland when he's on vacation, but he like me are from the United Kingdom.

He said he changed the keyboard to a keyboard (qwertz) UK & also it changed the HARD disk of 1 TB to an SSD of 128.

    The above affects it warranty?

    Hello

Some parts such as HARD drive or memory are upgraded, user but the keyboard replacement isn t the scalable user and must be performed by the authorized service provider.

Therefore, it might be possible that the warranty isn't valid more due to the replacement of keyboard.

  • Satellite 2450 S203: SMART HDD can fail - HARD drive change?

    Hello

My Satellite 2450 S203 seems to run slow extremeley (20 minutes to start windows!). I get a warning in the Manager of Toshiba hard disk may fail soon.

I guess I should do a new hard drive? Is it possible to fix it? If not, what type of replacement hard drive should get?

    Thank you
    Andreas

    Hello Andreas

If the HARD drive has a mechanical problem it aren't there has not much to do and you should buy a new HARD drive. But before this I recommend you to do the clean install of OS and see how the laptop runs. After the long period of use and many facilities that the OS will be slower and slower, but 20 minutes is definitely too long for the start-up procedure.

According to specifications specification must be 40 GB of HARD drive. I'm sure that for the upgrade, you can use 60 GB HARD drive. On this HARD drive replacement is quite simple and you can do it alone. If you n t do this please write again.

  • X 200 hard drive change

I have a 200 x, with as a hard drive 7BG. It is very quiet in the State, but I want to trade for a big drive. So my question is; is the factory installed lenovo hard drive it yourself it's very quiet or pampens sound laptop case? If it is that silence is due to the hard drive yourself, what none of yo recommends an update on the same level of noise?

Lenovo readers are just general drives, usually Seagate or Hitachi, both decent. Sensitivity to noise is really personal, so it is difficult to comment on the limited description that you provided. Personally, I can feel the noise of Seagate 5400 RPM 250 GB spindle, which does not exist on a 5400 RPM 80 GB WD I (when I swap in X 200, so the two disks are installed in the same way).

  • XPS 8300: Install new hard drive 3 TB BSOD results after imaging but not after Win7 clean

I have a XPS 8300 and the original Seagate 2 TB hard drive is dead. Because being forced to install a new HARD drive, I opted for 3 TB and bought a WD because I had horrible luck with Seagate repeatedly.

Anyway, I installed the new HARD drive and booted from the Windows 7 64 bit Pro installation disc and attached my external drive to backup and choose the backup image to the new disk. It completed without error, but when the computer restarts, I get a blue screen of death with the 7B stop code. I tried to put the HARD drive in a box and attached to another computer, and all my image files are there so I know that the computer was able to write the image to the new HARD disk. How to fix the BSOD errors? I set to update to the latest version of the BIOS (A06) but always the blue screen. I tried to install the latest Intel drivers also and which does not seem to do anything.

Frustrated, I installed Windows 7 clean on this drive and I am writing this message from him. The drive appears in my computer as a 2 TB. Disk Management displays 100 MB System Reserved Partition, Partition C: of 2047 GB and 746 GB unallocated.

Why a new installation does not seem to work (I know that I would have to format the 746 GB to use it and to give it a new drive letter) but the imagery that the disc breaks down. What Miss me?

I've seen a lot of posts on using Intel drivers to solve similar problems. These drivers get breaths during the imaging process? Should they be installed before the imagery of the backup? (Thought that I did, but maybe I didn't do it right - their installation can be verified before the disk imaging?) Tried to call Dell and Windows support... am no where in a hurry.

    Hi LG1382,

You cannot start Windows 7 on a 3 TB drive. You can use it for data, but not as the system drive. Windows 7 can only start TPG on systems with BIOS UEFI, which does not the 8300.

  • Windows problem with hard drive changed from IDE to SATA connection.

After a full rebuild (new MB, CPU, graphics and RAM) and install the new copy of Windows 7 Home, everything is great, until I try to connect an additional internal HDD. The boot and then crashes to the windows logo. Additional HARD drive is SATA, but it has already been used on an IDE connection.

The bios recognizes the drive, but obviously, there's some kind of conflict in Windows (I think the reader can contain a backup of the previous generation system).

    System;

    MB ASUS M5A97 R2.0

    CPU AMD FX6

    Gskill 8 GB of RAM.

Any ideas on how to fix the problem please?

    Thanks, Chris

Usually means a player has failed/problematic

You say sata drive but used on a connector IDE does that mean you are using a cable converter, because the type of interface is completely different, or do you just mean the parameter for the connection of the bios?

  • I have CS5 - need to reinstall after a hard drive change - it doesn't accept my box serial number (as used above)?

I had my computer upgraded with a new hard drive.

I temporarily installed CS5 on the "desktop", while the update was made.

Now when you reinstall CS5 it will not accept the correct serial number on the box provided

What can I do to make it registered on the computer being updated?

If you are referring to the external cardboard box which is not likely the serial number.  It is normally located inside on the case/box/CD.  Check your Adobe account online for the serial number.  If you have registered the software, it may be there.

    Quickly find your serial number

    Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  • External hard drives changed ID

Windows 8. After disconnecting a drive hard usb2 (H) when I plugged it to reconnect the drive ID was changed to K and the memory stick, which was K changed now J. This resulted in my backups no longer works. How can I change the ID to their original settings?

    Hi Ronald,.

When you remove a device Windows 8 associates back its drive letter. Same thing happens when you re - attach the device so a disc previously identified by H:\ could be listed as I:\ or J:\ especially if you have other removable devices connected to the computer, such as pen drives or removable drive.

The solution in this case is to reassign letters drive using the Computer Management Console.

Follow these steps to reassign drive letters:

    1. press on the logo key Windows and the X key.

    2. click on disk management.

    3. right-click on the USB, click on settings , then click on change drive letter and paths.

    4. in the dialog box that appears, click Edit and chose the correct drive letter. If another device is currently using the drive letter that you want to associate, you must first associate the unit concerned to another letter again to avoid conflicts.

Please, an update of the results. We will be happy to help you further.

  • Qosmio F750-129 - change HARD drive

    Hi all

For my QOSMIO F750-129, currenlty it works with native hard drive Hitachi HTS547575A9E384 (5400 RTM)

I would change this hard drive for a faster:

Seagate hybrid SSD Momentus XT ST750LX003 2,5 "SATA III 750GO (7200 RPM)
    or
Hybrid of Seagate 1 TB portable computer SSHD ST1000LM014 (5400 RPM)

Is it possible for you (power, temperature, SATA interface...)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

To increase the performance of the laptop HARD drive change is recommended. I recommend exchanging it with SSD. You will see the difference. Computer laptop will start and runs much faster than before.

Toshiba also offers SSD so if you need some info visit http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

  • Satellite L350-170 - sounds of clanking from the HARD drive

My laptop Satellite L350-170 performs a kind of rattling noise when the hard drive light flashes.
Is this normal because this is a replacement one but that I had did not all sounds.

    Hello

It is very difficult to say why this noise appears.
I have two laptops. On a laptop, the HARD drive clicks and creates its strange but 4 years it worked correctly.
The other HDD doesn t create sounds

So, as you can see not really easy to tell what could cause this noise of rattle, but I recommend creating a file backup.
In the worst cases could die your HARD drive and as a result, a backup is always recommended.

You said that the HARD drive has been changed so maybe you should ask ASP for more details and maybe this HARD drive will be replaced again.
