  • Which hard drive buy for my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB HD 320?

    After receiving an error of 10-FA12 - 054D and do not recover my laptop to zone out, I believe that I have to buy a new hard drive.

    Which hard drive buy for my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB HD 320?

    You can check the Toshiba site for which specifications you need.  A general rule is to buy something at least two times greater than the one that failed, because the data use and therefore the space doubles every 18 months.

    You may want to consider a large enough to allow you to make backups and store in another partition

    The internal HHD is short on free space and I need to replace it with a larger one. The existing one is 500 GB, SATA and 5400 RPM.

    What should I look for when you buy a new?

    Any internal HARD disk will be suitable and compatible or am I looking for something specific?

    Any internal hard drive 2 TB will be suitable and compatible?

    Since the existing one is using a 5400 RPM, one, can I use one with 7200 RPM? There will be compatibility and or overheating problems?

    Thanks for your reply.

    I don't think not laptop 2 TB drives are made with the rotation speed of 7200 RPM. They are all 5400. 7200 TPM is larger than 1 TB. But, to answer your question directly, you can use any 2.5 inch wide and 7mm or 9.5 mm thick hard drive SATA or SSD on the market. The physical dimensions of each of them are the same, that is the industry standard interchangeable. No compatibility or heating problems.

  • HP Pavilion 9700 series - Hard Drive Compatibility

    Hello

    I have a laptop HP Pavilion 9700 (dv9827cl) which has stopped working. I hit the power button and it turns off within 2 seconds.

    This has happened before and I had to fix. He has worked almost a year and kaput.

    I want to buy an another laptop HP Pavilion 9700 on eBay. Those without a hard disk, the boot up to bios, range from $200 or less. The hard drive in my old laptop works in any series HP Pavilion 9700? If this isn't an idea where I could find information about compatibility?

    Thank you!

    As long as it is the same family of i.e. AMD or Intel processor, you will be OK. You may need to load a driver or two, but the hard drive of an AMD dv9700 will start in any other dv9700 AMD. It is not quite as sensitive as suggested above, but otherwise, the story would be that if you tried to put it in an Intel system or even a more recent or more old AMD system the essential thing which must be the same is the main chipset on the motherboard.

    For completeness I want to clarify that in doing so technically violates the Microsoft EULA. Your OEM for Windows license is specific to the machine, with which it was delivered.

  • How to use the 2nd hard drive internal for storage?

    Hi, I am a newbie in all of this. I would use the 2nd internal hard drive of our mac mini server (end 2012) for storage (in fact, I'll things rsync from a remote server to here. but this is not the point here.). The thing is, I don't know how to access the 2nd internal hard drive and where to start. I did all of the following commands in the Terminal, but I don't really know what they mean, and what can I do with this information. I've been Googling but most are guides on how to install a 2nd hard drive etc. I hope that the information below is enough for someone to give me advice please?

    Hello

    The laptop uses a simple 2.5 SATA HDD.
    It's not really important what the speed of the HARD drive is supported, but I recommend to use the 5400 RPM or faster 7200 RPM HARD drive

    Generally all HARD drive size should be compatible because the SATA controller has no limitations.

  • Computer HP laptop slim 500 GB HARD drive: used for HP laptop HARD drive upgraded to Win 10 Pro with key now stuck after HP Drive Encryption Login

    I bought a portable hard drive used HP for the upgrade of my Lenovo G550 with ugraded CPU with Intel's CORE DUO T9300 2.50 ghz

    (HP hard drive: computer laptop slim drive HARD 500 GB SERIAL ATA DISK DRIVE S/N W627S9NL P/N 756731-001 MFG Seagate Technologies DOM 8 / 2015)

    I was happy to see that the hatd drive had already installed because Windows 7 I had bought already separate legitimate Windows 10 Pro license key for the upgrade. I was able to go online and download the upgrade of Windows 10 and used my purchased license key to activate my updated.

    While doing the installation, there are some HP software that was still on the hard drive. I thought it would be good to have some additional security protocols, so I also installed the WinMagic Securedoc Bootloader v1.2.12 and saved the drive encryption HP with the security issues and password for secondary access.

    10 Windows has been activated and everything was beautiful. But when I restarted the laptop, I put my password for windows and then it goes to this screen of disc HP encryption rises. I put the password and it is accepted - and then the screen turns white... not offshore... jblank TEU with a cursor flashing that doesbn can't react to inputs.

    I tried leaving it for a day or so and still nothing.  There is nothing I can change in the configuration of the BIOS that works so far.

    I also tried Reimage download on USB and re-creation of the sequence of boot, but not good. Even tried a boot drive, but nothing there either. I'll try again.

    I don't know where to go or how to get beyond the screen of HP encryption.  I am pretty good at following directions, I don't know coding, but may do what you suggest to help me fix this problem.

    Can you help me?

    Sorry... I missed the part that you have a license Win10.  I thought you were trying to activate 10 using the OEM HP license and causing problems.

    I do not use HP encryption applications - as having recently completed a career in the InfoSec, I personally focus together on the encryption of the PC to be laughable-, but my guess is that you are basically out of luck.

    If it was my drive, I WIPE the drive of all its content and then again install Win10.  A good product to do i.e. DBan: http://tiptopsecurity.com/how-to-securely-wipe-your-hard-drive-with-dban-erase-your-data-for-good/

    Once your disc is clean, then simply install Win10 on it.

    That said, with a bit of luck, one of the HP EXPERTS will probably come along and tell you how to get around their encryption.

    Good luck

  • Portege M300: Is the protection of HARD drive only for the brand of Toshiba drives?

    Hello

    I am trying to upgrade my Portege M300 with a hard drive bigger, as seen on the Portege forum, I posted the thread after that two hard drives from samsung does not similarly, shortly after the installation of the new.

    I just want to know if the protection of Toshiba HARD drive utility is simply made for Toshiba hdd or if it can work on any other brands of hard drives of brand. As I say, I want to upgrade a 60 GB to 160 GB and 2 new hard drive failed. I've since updated my bios to the latest version and I also consider not to install this hard drive protection feature, just in case where it will cause problems once more with my 3rd HDD replacement of same nature.

    I appreciate any thoughts on this.
    Thank you very much

    Hello

    Usually it s any manufacturer is.
    If the HARD disk supports the CHIP so it should be possible to use this HARD drive.
    The HARD disk protection tool verifies the parameters of the HARD disk.
    But the settings are configured by HDD manufacture then it might be possible that the HARD disk will not work if the tool would not choose the settings correctly.

  • Compatible HARD drive need for my Satellite L655 - 1 6

    Hey everybody,

    my 4 year old Satellite L655 1 g 6 has recently had some problems and the hard drive needs to be replaced.
    Does anyone know about a cheap substitute that should not necessarily be the Toshiba?

    I don't want to do a SSD hard drive, as this laptop is old enough, and the cost for the ssd would not depreciate in the next years.
    Would be very grateful to hear some opinions/suggestions :)

    -Thanks in advance

    In general you need is of 2.5 HARD drive with connector SATA and these drives, you can find in every store of the computer. Pick up some info on the proposed models, capacities and prices so that you can make a decision that you want to buy.
    > I don't want to do a SSD hard drive, as this laptop is old enough, and the cost for the ssd would not depreciate in the next years.
    In my opinion it's the wrong opinion. Using SSD increase you the performance of laptop computer s quickly and were very quick machine. One day if you do not want to use this laptop, you can remove the SSD and put old HDD inside. SSD can be used on the new machine.
    For me, it's the best solution for you.

    Last year I've improved my 4 years old P500 with SSD and I m very happy with it. The price was only 149 Euros. It's OK price. Change the HARD drive is not complicated and you can do it alone.

  • Need info on max size of HARD drive available for Satellite Pro M30-813

    Hello

    The question is mainly to be sent to Toshiba authorized support personnel. The limitation of the maximum size of a HARD drive internal that I could use with my Satellite Pro M30 - 813, what exactly?

    Recently, I bought and installed seagate SATA drive of 160 GB, on which I installed WXP Pro and have been running for a while with no problems. Recently, I've been copying large amounts of data to an external hard drive to my new internal drive, and that the files have been copied, as I noticed have about 50 GB of free space left, I knew windows "delayed write failed" and a failure of massive wall without the possibility to recover the data. The system would no longer boot time and the entire MBR has been damaged. As a result, I lost all the data on my new drive.

    Well, I realize that Toshiba is not responsible for additional hardware that I use with my computer laptop and who is not officially supported by Toshiba, I am sure that as an end-user of a Toshiba product, that I have the right to know a lot information of limiting size of HDD for my model of laptop. So I ask, representing technical support Toshiba to give me an official reply directly to my question.

    Thank you in advance,

    Andrejs

    Hi Andrew

    > The question should mainly be addressed to Toshiba authorized support staff
    I think that you are in the wrong place if you are looking for a response from an authorized Toshiba support.
    This is a user to user Toshiba forum! You will here meet passionate and Toshiba laptop owner who share knowledge and trying to solve the problems, but no one of Tosh :(

    I could give my experience with Satellite M30 and HDD upgrade possibilities.
    To my knowledge the M30 Sat supports a 40 GB, 60 and 80 GB HARD drive for sure.
    In my opinion, you can use the 100 GB HARD drive, but more large HARD s drive will not run and works correctly.
    So go to a smaller size of HARD drive and enjoy the laptop!

    I've goggled a bit and found compatible drive HARD and part numbers
    HITACHI GBC000Z810-> 80 GB
    HITACHI GBC00014810-> 80 GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2188B-> 80 GB
    HITACHI G8C0000Z610-> 60 GB
    HITACHI G8BC00013610-> 60 GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2183-> 60 GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2184-> 60 GB

    I hope this might help you a little!

    Best regards

  • Tecra R10 - hard drive upgrade for SSD

    Can we say if it is possible to change the hard drive for an SSD?
    It would be perfect!

    Why is it not possible? As far as I know Toshiba proposes some models of the Portege with SSD and SATA drives.
    For the time being SSDS are quite expensive and I don't think the best solution.
    What is the reason for the exchange of HARD drive?
    I still have no experience with SSDS, but I've read several articles ve noticed that Intel X25M should be good. According to the tests that has this HARD drive, comparing to other manufacturers, data transfer rate but it is quite expensive.

    Anyway, when you replace the HARD drive please let us know how it works, and describe your experience with it. It can be very useful for other members of the forum.

    Good luck!

  • HP Pavilion p6280t PC: Western Digital hard drive Compatible for HP Pavilion p6280t desktop PC

    I need to replace the internal hard disk for this old model of PC.  It came with a hard drive from 750 GB 7200 RPM SATA 3 Gb/s (Seagate).  What drive Western Digital hard (750 GB or 1 TB) is compatible with this computer?

    The limitation of SATA is more like a heading of speed that allows the bus. (6 Gb/s) SATAIII allows real world speeds of up to 600 MB/s while SATAII (3 Gbps) allows speeds of up to Bot 300 Mbps connections. allowing speeds of over the current maximum capacity of any mechanical hard drive. Best performing discs can go up to 200 MB/s, so it wouldn't really matter if you use SATAII or SATAIII. You should be fine using either for the WD Black and you shouldn't see any difference in transfer speeds.

    My Pavillion Office refused to start today with light orange hard drive "will not blink" in the quick flicker even way while trying to start.  Its flashing for a longer period with a consistent pace of about one and a half seconds per blink.

    I removed the hard drive from the system one enslaved in another Pavilion and it worked fine, I reinstalled the memory of the original machine and reconnected problem persisted.

    I would appreciate any recommendations on the resolution of this grace.

    Thanks for the reply, but I solved this problem. A memmory in the system module has been damaged possible overload of dllhost.exe. I I removed the module and the system now boots normally.

  • Hard drive replacement for Satellite M30 604

    Problems with my hard drive and wanting to change it. Think original was an IC25N060ATMR04-0, what appears to be a Hitachi 4200 RPM 60 GB UDMA hard drive with an 8 Meg buffer. Can I replace it with a bigger, faster disk? If yes should which technique I have? Grateful for any ideas!

    Hello

    So, just be sure to install a disk IDE and not SATA. The rest is obsolete since you don t have to take care for all care such as speed or the cache. Just take the most large drive you can download and install it.

    That's all. In the case of any questions do your thougts throw in this forum here ;)

    Welcome them
