  If you want an exact clone, you will need to use a utility like utility disk, Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!

  What do you mean by "assigned to this disk as the location of the Archive" is this something to do with the software you use?

  The drive is formatted for Mac?  Menu go to menu, click Finder go > utilities > disk utility > click on external drives partition - format it sets out Mac OS X extended.   Otherwise, to save the files on the disk and ease than Mac OS

• Mobile project for external hard drive is not free HD space

  Was working on a major project and got a caveat that my internal HD was almost full. FCPX get very laggy. So I moved several large projects HD internal HD of the iMac to my external movie player, following all the instructions on how to do it. Annoyed by his problem, I restore the computer to a restore before installation point, thinking that I can reinstall Kaspersky 2010 thereafter. It follows a constant series of warnings saying my AV software has stopped working, and my hard drive (72GO, with 18 GB of rescue) filled in a few minutes. Best advice?

  It is a Kaspersky problem and not a problem of Vista.  You should contact the http://support.kaspersky.com/support or better http://usa.kaspersky.com/support/consumer-contact.php to help with this problem.  They will need your registration number.  We do not know what generates messages or how to stop it (but probably some files remain despite the restoration system - either the new facility prior installation).  There may be a special removal tool to uninstall the product, you need to use to do it properly (because SOMETHING generates messages and it's certainly Kaspersky) - and there is: http://usa.kaspersky.com/support/home/208279463/ (which goes far in explaining the reason of this problem).

  Since he filled out your drive with these messages, there is no way to re - install the product (there is apparently no space) to get messages to stop and then it would be a simple matter to locate and delete (or maybe this is not simple stuff – I don't know this particular AV product).  But you can run the removal tool, and perhaps stop messages (assuming that the tool works when the program has already been partially or almost totally uninstalled).  But it is a matter for their tech support people.

  In short, you need to talk to Kaspersky to fix this.  If they're doing their thing and there are tasks that are related to Vista and you need some help with that, so feel free to post back and we'll do our best to help (but provide us a summary of what they did and what they said should be done).

  Sorry we can not help you more, but it's really a problem to Kaspersky and they need to help you to solve.

  I've had my laptop HD to 320 for about a month. Running Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad T500. Intel core 2 duo T9600, 4 GB, 64-bit

  I have 140 GB of files stored on its hard disk, but lately he has only demonstrated 30 GB space. The system takes about 150 GB of hard drive space and eat another GB or two every day (even if sometimes they come back).

  Here is what I tried:

  -Ran Norton, Avast and Malwarebyte s analyses - deleted some small cookies, but no real virus found by one of them.

  -Disabled the system restore, got about 3 GB back.

  -Checked disk defragmentation - all very good.

  -Ran the cleaner disc and CC Cleaner, deleted a few hundred MB of Temp files, but obviously not 100 GB of value.

  --Also conducted an audit of system long.

  -Have used programs like space Sniffer and JDisk report to check disk allocation, size of use - all say that my files are only 140 GB.

  -Have backed up on external hard drive, so it is safe for all.

  Obviously, the next step seems to be to wipe everything clean and re - install the operating system, but of course, I got like this to be a last resort. So a last check to see if there is an easier explanation miss me.

  Thank you all for the suggestions. Last week, not more disk space hard been mysteriously ate, but I still cannot be sure how get lost space back (other than re - install). Disk scanners say that about 120 GB hard disk are deposited with / assigned to 'unknown '. But at least the bleeding is stopped - now just to see if I can return the leg...
