    Hello

I m not sure but I think to me it s no longer tied to your laptop and has nothing to do with Toshiba. Maybe you use the file system that can be read by other computers (Windows)?

If you connect to the Windows computer, you can see the disk in disk management?

Caution when you delete files. A lot of people trashed their system when deleting things.

Placing things in the trash. Restart & run your applications. Empty the trash.

Go after large files you created & know what they are.  Do not remove the small files that are located in a folder that you don't know what the record is for. All that is less than a megabyte is a small file these days.

Empty the trash.  Space is not reclaimed until you clear it in three places.

    OmniDiskSweeper is now free!

This will give you a list of files and folders sorted by size. Go after things that you know are big.

To show all files, you must open a session for each user on your system and run OmniDiskSweeper.

Or you can take the more risky approach using the root account to get read/write access to all files on your system.  Be careful removing the wrong file, your system will be trash.

  • Retrieve files from the old hard drive

I have an old desktop pc that was running windows xp. I started the upgrade to vista but lost the product key and never managed to get a new one. There is an error message when I try to start the pc. Im not interested to fix it, but I want to get some files off the hard drive (mainly of music). Currently, I have a laptop running windows 7 and I was wondering if it was possible to connect the hard drive of the PC to my mobile (as an external drive) and recover my media files. Is this possible with the upgrade failed, if so what would I need to do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Perhaps, but without knowing exactly what you were doing to the old drive I can't guarantee success.

You can buy an external enclosure for your old hard drive that will turn it into a USB drive. You will need to remove the hard drive from your old computer and insert it into the caddy. Before buying the caddy, determine the type of your old hard drive (PATA or SATA) and make sure you buy the correct caddy. PATA hard drives have a very wide (5cm) data compared to SATA cable (less than 1 cm).

If your old PATA drive, I would recommend making sure that the jumpers are positioned for the reader as a "master". There should be a diagram on the hard drive, informs you of the jumper configuration. I met a few caddies who were sensitive to the riders 'cable select' or 'slave', i.e. did not work with these settings.

Once you have connected the caddy via the USB port, no data on this subject should be available via a drive letter.

  • Can I synchronize the information to this firefox but didn't save anything on the hard drive?

    Hiya,

I have a laptop at home that I have used for years. Of course, I've saved loads and loads of the saved passwords. I installed Firefox sync here.
On my computer at work, I've just matched the sync with my account. Its downloaded all of my info with success and I placed a master password on all my saved password just in case.

My question is if, for increased security, it is a way in which every time I open Firefox, sync will access my information but then, immediately after the closure of Firefox it deletes just all my data on the hard drive of the PC?
That is, is there a way to not save any info on is the hard drive of the PC but access my details of the model home?

    Thank you
    William

No, Firefox Sync does not work in this way. Everything that you synchronize your work yo will stay there unless you delete the daily data.

IMO, a better solution would be to use Portable Firefox on a USB for your work PC. No data will be loaded on your work PC. everything will be on the USB key instead. When you eject the USB stick your Firefox data will be in your possession, nothing remains on the PC where it has been used.

Firefox Sync works between your PC and the 'portable' installed USB version.

  • Technical information of the MK2555GSXF hard drive from Toshiba.

My MBP (MacBookPro) contains a MK2555GSXF of TOSHIBA 250 GB hard drive that crashed. After checking this site for an hour, I am still unable to find technical data referring to this player. The research methods of this site have got to be the worst performance of a search engine I've seen for a long time.

When I enter the Product Code, there is absolutely NO information is associated with the exception of the ridiculous questions on all the other products in addition to that I was interrogated on.

Even the most banal search engine would show at least some information, even the product exist initially. Absolutely NO information about specific Toshiba products.

In my state of total frustration now altered, so I had use in establishing an account and ask that obvious on a forum, that once more still more delays.

SO here's the question I tried to find the answer to for the last hour and a half.

Where technical information to theTOSHIBA MK2555GSXF from hard drive?

Maybe some here may have more luck than me to find this information.

    Kind regards...

You are right. I didn't found any info on the Toshiba HDD/SSD support page, but Googling around, I found the track information:

  • Satellite L650-11F: where are the backup information stored on the HARD drive

    Hello.

My original Toshiba HDD is a failure and I had to replace it with a new one. I haven't had any recovery DVDs until Windows stopped booting and try to avoid buying one.

I thought that I copy just my recovery Partition and the master boot record on the new HARD drive which worked well. However I find that this hidden restore partition has only 400 MB and so cannot possibly contain all the necessary information to restore the system.

I have boot from it, but I don't get any options to restore the default settings. It scans only for problems with Windows, runs a few tests on my records and presents me with advanced options that I can't go because I'm not connected.

I went searching all about and know that ELSEWHERE THE PARTITION RECOVERY that you still need your Windows partition for recovery work.

It seems just really stupid because most people will try to restore their default values after damage to their windows (deleted files accidentally or whatever).

What is the point of keeping a partition hidden with just enough to Prime the system, but then require that certain parts of their partition original windows remains intact in order to restore?

What I'm trying to know is exactelly what part (files) do I need to restore my computer. I tried to copy the Windows partition on the new disk but its too damaged and he'll take it apart if I try to copy some files or to copy directly (using linux dd or ddrescue).

I am able to copy some of the unique files, so with little chance I might be able to copy everything that I need. I can't copy the part of the Windows folder however.

So any1 know where the backup information is stored or has other ideas?

Thank you in advance and please excuse my bad English.

    Hello

At first, I must say that your biggest mistake was not not to create recovery discs. With these discs you didn t now have a stupid problem.
Anyway, in my opinion, only option for you is now buy original Toshiba Recovery disk and install Recovery on the new HARD disk image.

I put t know how to start the discussion with you and try to offer some answers. Is Toshiba doesn t create recovery CD/DVDs more and original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. At first he was saved on the second partition of HARD drive and visible for laptop owners. Many people have deleted and do some experiments with these files for recovery. Later after the screwing up of most of them wondered why the recovery installation doesn t work anymore and blaming Toshiba for non-working HARD drive recovery facility.

You need to just check this forum and see how many comments you can find here all this.

I think that was the reason why Toshiba has decided to save this image on a hidden partition to avoid such things. Please note that this image of hidden recovery is designed for your laptop only and can be used if your laptop has the factory settings. Any type of change may result with missing option to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

Problem is that people don't read the operating manuals and don t understand how it works. To avoid any situation where the installation of the HARD disk can't start or failure HARD disk Toshiba strictly recommended recovery DVD creation. I m wondering really you didn't create these disks.

At this point, I would like to repeat what I think: you will not be able to do anything, except by using the original installation disc of recovery. To be honest, it is cheap and costs 30 euros. Don t waste your time to play, buy, install the OS, and be happy.

    Bye and good luck

No, at least not by us.

Open a hard drive for some reason any at all can be done in special
laboratory as parameters. Something else will destroy the disk.

There are companies trying to recover data from broken disks,
and they are sometimes successful. And who knows, maybe they
sometimes use methods such as what you describe.

But if you plan to use such a company, know what they
are all very expensive. It does not for most people.

For the future, if you have files you want to be sure are not
lost, make sure to have in place a backup procedure on a regular basis the
    external media player.

Unfortunately if the hard drive has failed, there is no way to recover the drive information other than contact a paid and professional data recovery service to recover.
    I hope this helps.
