HARD drive is not detected in BIOS - need to recover data.

What happened is that my laptolaptop takes a long time to start, so I slapped him. After that I kept getting the error message "no boot device, please restart". So whenever I restarted I kept getting this message. I also sometimes had "Media Fail" message. I pressed F2 at startup to get into the Bios. Settings so check I saw that hard disk still showed it's a Hitachi one.

My hard drive was clicking to it so I searched online advice on what to do and I saw on the opening of the hard drive in a clean environment, ensuring that no dust went on the drive. I expect the head being stuck on disc, but it was not stuck. So basically, I put the lid on. Since then, the hard drive was not detected.

Not in the Bios (he said no). I bought a CD to restart which can temporarily become Windows to the screen under Xp, so I can go to the computer to retrieve data from the hard drive. It shows nothing. There is always a clicking hard drive, more a ticking sound. It is always possible that an expert could remove the hard drive and recover my data that are valuable photos and videos.

Thank you

Try to set the BIOS to default settings and check if the HARD drive is recognized correctly.

  • Why my hard drive randomly not detected by bios? Presario F700

    Hello
I tried to fix a problem I had with my laptop.

    Presario F700
    p/n: KW061UA
No BONE, was trying to install Windows 7

Well, let me start at the beginging.  I've updated the Ram in my laptop from 2 GB to 4 GB.
I continued to find that when I have titlted my laptop that would freeze windows and I will have to reboot. So I replaced the hard drive because I think that the laptop was overheating and damage the hard drive.

I had this problem until I replaced the hard drive. The new drive is a 160 GB Western Digital WD1600BEKT
I also have a cooling the laptop fan to sit on.
So now the question... I put in new hard drive. I put in my USB key to install Windows 7. Everything seems to go big. Then after that it says is necessary to continue the installation of Windows, it turns off but never comes back.
So I go into the BIOS and it does not show the drive there! I restart and watch again and now the hard drive is there... So I try again... and it restarts this time, but it freezes when I put the rest of the information for Windows. It's so random detecing hard drive.
Also, I checked and saw that my BIOS is up to date.
I even read that reinstalling the RAM can solve... but no. I am at a loss and would appreciate any help!

The only other possibility is not good... a faulty motherboard.

  • Re: Tecra 9100 - new HARD drive is not detected

I have a Toshiba Harddisk provide a Tecra 9100. Checking the BIOS it shows "Enhanced IDE", but you are trying to boot from the disc does not work HARD. Even trying to install a new operating system present, that the HARD drive is not detected.
From the laptop is also very long.
    Any idea?

Your new HARD drive is larger than 120 GB? The HARD disk controller supports the 28-bit LBA and large drives as 120 GB will not be recognized by the BIOS.

What you mean with Enhanced IDE? The BIOS recognizes the new HARD drive with model number?

  • P30: External hard drive is not detected when you use IEEE 1394 cable

My P30 not / can not detect my newly acquired Western informed extreme Digitak Drive 320 when I connect via the firewire port. I use a 4-pin cable (which costs a fortune, by the way) who is supposed to be a way to connect this drive to a 6-pin pc.

Can someone tell me what to do? I really need to connect the FireWire drive because I need the USBs for other devices.

    Hi, Lars

It is really strange. I use the external DVD drive (DL) using the same cable. I tested it with several units (old Satellite 1900, Tecra M1 and also new Qosmio G20) and everything works perfectly.

Check the power supply to the external HARD drive.

    Hello

I just got an old laptop, the guy who gave me think it had been deleted and the boot sector had to reformat and reload.

However, I booted up in windows 2 k consisting of disc to see that there is no HARD drive detected.
Then I went into the BIOS to see if it was detected he find that it is not.

I just want to check that I have reason to think that the HARD drive is actually dead?

    Hello

It is possible that the HARD drive is faulty, but there may also be placed on the motherboard defective HARD disk controller. If possible, try to get another HARD drive and you will see if the new HARD drive is recognized correctly.

  • Seagate GoFlex Desk USB 3.0 External Hard Drive is not detected at startup, when you use USB 3.0

Hey there, I was wondering if someone can help with this. Basically, my works fine external HDD so I boot to windows and then plug it into a USB 3.0, but if I leave it plugged in as I would like and reboot or shutdown and return to the reader don't launch and Windows does not detect it correctly.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit, have an i5 - 3570 k and a sabertooth z77 mobo. USB drivers are updated, the intel one controller as the asmedia one, the bios is up-to-date, near as I can tell everything is up-to-date, but this hard just don't have it. It doesn't matter what USB 3.0 port it is plugged into you just cannot get starter. You can feed the cycle only and that will do the trick, but I don't want to do every day. If plug you it into a USB 2.0 port, so that it works exactly as it should here is my solution.

Now, I tried to contact Seagate and they suggested that I update my drivers, even if I told them that I had updated my drivers, which was great. Clearly, they have nothing useful to say. Anyone got any ideas?

    Hello

    Thank you for the update.

This can give it a try and check.

  • Second installed hard drive is not seen by BIOS

    I have a computer "AMD A8 - 5500 3.2 GHz APU" - A8 Vision HP Pavilion

    BIOS v.7.10

I installed a second SATA drive (a 3 to Seagate) and booted up the factory installed OS on the first SATA hard drive. The operating system has no problem see the car, so I installed a second operating system on a 700 GB partition on the second disk SATA. However, when I booted the system to complete the installation of the operating system, the BIOS could not see the second SATA drive. Start on the operating system on the first SATA hard drive, no problem, the operating system can see the second SATA drive. So, the problem occurs during startup. The BIOS will not see the second SATA drive.

However, if I interrupt the BIOS at startup and go make a diagnosis (and I cancel that and not run the Diagnostics), all of a sudden, the BIOS can see the 2nd SATA drive and I can boot on it. Interrupt the normal BIOS boot and enter the setup of BIOS and then canceling, will be 100% of the time cause the BIOS to see the second SATA drive. If I do not do this, the BIOS did not see the other disk SATA 100% of the time. It is a real nuisance.

I looked for a BIOS update version (assuming that it was a a bug is identified with a newer version of the BIOS), but can't seem to find anything.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thank you

    SFMChris

I don't think that it has nothing to do with the "Windows Boot Loader (Winload.exe or is)". However, I try and run a ' bcdedit/set {GUID} path \windows\system32\winload.exe"produces a non-Boot OS (even if I tried to use my current solution by interrupting the BIOS at startup).

This is the current behavior that I see when I hit ESC to get into the BIOS setup (you have a window of less than 2 seconds to hit this key before the WIndows boot loader menu appears). The paths to the settings in the BIOS menu, followed by the parameters that I see are:

    * Start menu

    -Shows only SATA0

    * Computer Configuration > storage > Configuration of the device

    -Shows only SATA0

    * Computer Configuration > storage > boot order > Legacy Boot Sources

    -Shows only SATA0

    * Computer Configuration > storage > DPS self test

    -Displays SATA0 and SATA1?

    UPDATE:

I just found the fix (HP devs should fix this bug so).

    SOLUTION:

I did change the following BIOS:

    * Computer Configuration > storage > advanced > Power Options

    -POST time (in seconds) 5

Parameters of a POSITION to delay (from the default of almost no delay at 5 seconds) solves the problem. In fact, if I wait 3-4 seconds late and then press the ESC key to enter the BIOS setup, everywhere I saw "Shows only SATA0" above before, is now showing SATA0 and SATA1. Everything is looking and working as I expect to. problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help him.

  • Hard drive is not detected in ESXi 4.1.0

We we have the controller array P410i RAID-0 is configured for some sets of disks and RAID-5 is configured for some sets of disc. ESXi installed on a RAID-0 and virtual machines are stored on RAID-5. Now we've added two hard drives, we want to expand our RAID-5 data store. But after the addition of two hard disks physically, he does not appear in esxi4

I really hope you don't need RAID-1 (mirror) configured instead of RAID-0 (covering).

In any case so that the OS (ESXi) to see additional disk space, you must add these two disks to the RAID-5 set by using the ACU (Array Configuration Utility) on the SmartStart CD. This operation, however, requires the presence of BBWC (battery write cache stamped) connected to the controller.

Warning: Make sure that the logical volume does not exceed 2 TB less than 512 bytes, otherwise the ESXi host will not recognize the volume more!

If the RAID-5 with two additional discs capacity exceeds this limit, then create an additional logical volume rather than resizing the existing.

If you do not have BBWC, your only option is to add these two disks as another set of RAID-1.

  • HARD drive is not detected

Had to reformat my hard drive on a 1640 Satellite. Had a lot of bad sectors and startup problems.
The installer is said now that there is no hard drive (6 GB hard drive). Running Windows98SE. Don't have all the CD recovery, s but useless as no hard drive detected.

    Hello

In my opinion you should start using this device with Win98 boot disk. If there is no possibility to access the HARD drive it must be some dysfunctions and it is possible that the HARD drive is defect.

  • Qosmio G20 - new HARD drive is not detected

    Hello.

While the installation of new disks in the RAID configured laptop; one of the active disks, the second - has failed.
Switch the mode RAID array does not. What could be the problem?

    2 X HARD DRIVE 160 GB

The problem may be the information of RAID, and it is obviously absent on the second HARD drive. I'm not an expert on such things, but if possible I recommend you back up all your important data from the first HARD drive and install the OS by using supplied recovery media.

After having done that, you should be able to use two hard drives with no problems.
