  I replaced the original 30 GB hard drive in my SA30 with a 5400 RPM 80 GB version that works perfectly. I don't see that you will have problems, make a similar Exchange on your A40 :-)

There was a slight problem starting up but just had to go into the BIOS at startup (F1 key) Startup Configuration / settings and do know the Boot from the HDD instead of CD ROM, etc.. The HP Pavilion G6 2264sa started with the G6 1331sa HARD drive and works very well. My daughter doesn't have to worry about spending time to find away around a new laptop and windows 8. everything is just where she knows that it is.

  The only problem I have is the brightness (f2 and f3) doesn't seem to work and the screen is very bright degree to cause a headache. I have uninstalled and installed the graphics drivers but still no control over brightness...!
