Hard drive shows in the Bios and Device Manager but not in disk management.

I recently had a hard drive fail because of the excessive heat in the computer case (he also took a memory too). When I plug the drive as a secondary drive in any computer it will appear in the Bios and the Manager of devices, but not in disk management, nor can it be considered be as ZAR and Spinrite disk utility.

The disc spins up and down when turned on and seems to work. Just trying to recover data from the disk, so I can put it on a new drive.

Any ideas?

If its not shown in disk management I would use this bootable HD to the utility check disk (probably all riders is set correctly?)

    2. perhaps I would reinsert the disc, but I can't find any instructions on internet about this disc removal/replacement.

Anyway, as far as I know the optical disk drive is fixed with a screw and it can be removed from the underside. The screw is placed near the cover of exact memory on the optical drive. Not on side cooling event, but on the other side.

    Hi trinitario,.

Because the hard drive is not detected in the BIOS also, it may be due to a hard drive configuration that should be changed or a rider. If you need to get in touch with a Local tech-store for assistance.

Note: change in the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. If you can get it to be recognized in the BIOS and it still doesn't work, maybe these will help.

You might have a disk problem as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD and CD burn and)

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are some registry entries

  • Disk HARD drive deleted in the Finder and now appears

My macbook pro has two hard drives, SSD 120 gb and 500 GB HARD drive. The HARD disk is a data disc and has been accidentally deleted from the Finder. I can't locate this drive anywhere in the computer.  It is a new drive and was only recently added to the mac.  Desperately need to find.

Try using disk utility to fix the problem. Also, read an effective communities of Apple Support question.

  • Which adapter to use on hard drive to get the data and images turned off before replacing the motherboard?

I have a HP G61-429WM, product WA961UA #ABA number. Windows7 operating system. It was abandoned and cracked the screen. I replaced the screen, it then booted up once or twice, and then began to not initialize. During this period, I noticed a crack in the lower shell into the Jack of the battery. Do you have a fairly long conversation with the support, the end result = send to paid the replacement of the main card or buy the same Board and fix it myself. He said that all the data on the disk wouldn't be there when I returned. It was also mentioned that the reader could be removed and a usb adapter could be used on the disk to retrieve data before the reader gets erased due to the relocation of the card.

Everyone would like to recommend a usb adapter to do? I will buy one, I want to just make sure it is right for the type of drive in this unit.

  • HP Pavilion dv4130us - requires the video controller driver to clear the problem of Device Manager

Any help would be appreciated. Have owned the laptop since birth. Update memory & HDD for patches of bloatware to Uncle Bill. Naoual need a video driver to resolve the problem of video hardware acceleration. I tried HP detects online etc, no video is available, would use the XP version, but HP will not install it because it is an unsupported operating system?

    Hello:

I'm not quite clear what operating system you are running.

If you are using XP, you then this video driver:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=447371&prodNameId=447348&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-52779-1

If you're running Vista, then you need this one.

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=447371&prodNameId=447348&swEnvOID=2096&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-47264-1

If you are running windows 7, run the Vista driver above. It will error out (give an unsupported OS message, I believe).  Close the error window.

Now, go into your device manager. Click on standard vga controller. Click on the driver tab, click on set to update driver. Select the browse my computer for the software method and navigate to C:\SWSetup\sp34749. Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and the driver should install.

Graphics card in your PC isn't completely Vista or W7 capable. You should now have hardware acceleration and be able to change your maximum permitted by your LCD screen resolution, but you won't have Aero.
