Hard drive upgrade

Well I don't know if this has been asked before, but I ordered the touch of envy 17 a few days ago. When I get it I plan on upgrading the primary hard drive to a 500 GB samsung evo ssd and adding a 7200 rpm 1 TB HGST Travelstar as the secondary drive. I've been looking around and in the hp service manual, there cunfigurations feasible but they seem a little limiting. I wanted to know if this could work which configurations or others have tried this work. Thank you.

Any size (capacity) and it can be a thickness of 9,5 mm or 7 mm thick... made it a little better s 9.5, but work 7 s.

  • Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello!

I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help!

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.

Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
    I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast!

    Hello

I found the info your device comes with 40 GB IDE (ATA - 5) HARD drive. I think in your case, to capacity. High-capacity hard drives are not recognized properly, but I think that with 60 or 80 GB HDD should perhaps be recognized correctly.

If anyone on this forum can give you accurate information, I recommend you contact your local dealer or service in your country. They are experts upgrade material and they have accurate info on HARD drive upgrade.

  • HP 6470 b 2nd hard drive upgrade. How fast this port works on? SATA I, II or III

HP 6470 b 2nd hard drive upgrade. How fast this port works on? SATA I, II or III

I want to put in a 60 GB SSD into the CD slot and want to see how fast it will support as this will be used for the Cache

    Thank you

The published information is not explicit; He says only: SATA for the expansion Bay while the main hard drive Bay expressly says SATA-III. However, given that this isn't just an optical drive Bay, but also a general 'Bay expansion', it is safe to assume it of on the same SATA bus as main drive and is a SATA III interface.

    Data sheet

6470b is also supposed to have a slot for a WSSD mSATA, but he is not described in the Manual:

    Manual

Obviously the WSSD would work better for cache but you can use a 60 gig SSD in an expansion bay for both cache adapter. Even if the connection is SATA-II, it will be much faster to work for a cache of acceleration.

  • I'll do a clean install on a blank hard drive upgrade but want to keep my Firefox settings - what is the best way to do this?

I'll do an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. I will be installing Windows 7 on a new empty hard drive. I want to keep my bookmarks Firefox and Ad Ons. What is the best way to do it. Thank you for your help.

    Hello

The best thing for you to do is to make a backup of your Firefox profile. It is a folder that stores bookmarks and Add-ons that you can then add to the reinstalled Firefox on your new operating system.

Learn you more about the Firefox profile folder, how to backup and restore, here.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look at in another option for you.

  • Tecra Z40 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello

I bought the Z40 with a 500 GB HARD drive. As a replacement, I bought the next SSD:

    Crucial CT512MX100SSD1 - 500 GB

Unfortunately I don't have to work. On the BIOS, I see that the system recognizes the ssd. But the boots of system restore, or windows 8.1 detail installs. Are there any known compatibility issues?

Problems persist if the bios setting is UEFI oder CSM.

I have upgraded to the latest version of the bios to 3.7, but that did not change the result.

If the BIOS recognizes the new SSD drive, the drive must be visible to the system.
May I ask how did you try to install the OS Windows 8.1?
    Have what media you used?

The Z40 Tecra can't internal ODD (optical disc). This is why I m wondering about the installation procedure

  • Computer HP laptop slim 500 GB HARD drive: used for HP laptop HARD drive upgraded to Win 10 Pro with key now stuck after HP Drive Encryption Login

I bought a portable hard drive used HP for the upgrade of my Lenovo G550 with ugraded CPU with Intel's CORE DUO T9300 2.50 ghz

(HP hard drive: computer laptop slim drive HARD 500 GB SERIAL ATA DISK DRIVE S/N W627S9NL P/N 756731-001 MFG Seagate Technologies DOM 8 / 2015)

I was happy to see that the hatd drive had already installed because Windows 7 I had bought already separate legitimate Windows 10 Pro license key for the upgrade. I was able to go online and download the upgrade of Windows 10 and used my purchased license key to activate my updated.

While doing the installation, there are some HP software that was still on the hard drive. I thought it would be good to have some additional security protocols, so I also installed the WinMagic Securedoc Bootloader v1.2.12 and saved the drive encryption HP with the security issues and password for secondary access.

10 Windows has been activated and everything was beautiful. But when I restarted the laptop, I put my password for windows and then it goes to this screen of disc HP encryption rises. I put the password and it is accepted - and then the screen turns white... not offshore... jblank TEU with a cursor flashing that doesbn can't react to inputs.

I tried leaving it for a day or so and still nothing.  There is nothing I can change in the configuration of the BIOS that works so far.

I also tried Reimage download on USB and re-creation of the sequence of boot, but not good. Even tried a boot drive, but nothing there either. I'll try again.

I don't know where to go or how to get beyond the screen of HP encryption.  I am pretty good at following directions, I don't know coding, but may do what you suggest to help me fix this problem.

    Can you help me?

Sorry... I missed the part that you have a license Win10.  I thought you were trying to activate 10 using the OEM HP license and causing problems.

I do not use HP encryption applications - as having recently completed a career in the InfoSec, I personally focus together on the encryption of the PC to be laughable-, but my guess is that you are basically out of luck.

If it was my drive, I WIPE the drive of all its content and then again install Win10.  A good product to do i.e. DBan: http://tiptopsecurity.com/how-to-securely-wipe-your-hard-drive-with-dban-erase-your-data-for-good/

Once your disc is clean, then simply install Win10 on it.

That said, with a bit of luck, one of the HP EXPERTS will probably come along and tell you how to get around their encryption.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A120-128 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello

I'm seriously exhausted on HARD disk space and want to upgrade my HARD drive in my Satellite Pro A120 128. Is there a maximum size that I can update? This model takes SATA or IDE?
Any suggestions on make & model disk HARD upgrade to?

    THX!

Normally it should not be a problem to use a HARD drive this lager s like 137 GB because as much as I know there is no limit of capacity on SATA interface.
But as said Akuma, test it before buying this drive.

However, an IDE HDD does not fit in this notebook

  • Satellite P200D-139 - HARD drive upgrade options

I received a P200D-139 and there seem to be two 40GB hard drives.

I want to upgrade if I put Windows 7 on it.

I have updated the BIOS, so how big a drive can I put into each slot of the HARD drive?

I'm also going to 4 GB of RAM.

    Hello

Satellite or Equium P200D series was equipped with SATA HDD.
This means that mobile supports the SATA HDD controller, which means that we must avoid any physical limitation.

Usually, you can use any HARD drive 2.5 SATA
But I think that 320 HARD drive should be good enough
    What do you think?

  • Equium A60-155 - HARD drive upgrade

I have an Equium A60-155 with 40G HARD drive.
The manual says that this model comes with up to 80G installed, but is it possible to upgrade to 120, or even 160G?

    Hello

If your laptop comes with a HDD of 80 GB then you ve got a good chance a 100 GB or 120 GB HARD drive would be supported.
I have no course with a size of 160GB HARD drive but I m m the 160 GB might be too afraid.

I recommend you use and test a 120 GB

  • Portege 7200 - HARD drive upgrade

I have a Portege 7200. It was just given to me. There is therefore no documentation or manuals.
I'm interested in upgrading his old 4 GB HARD drive to something more modern. Can someone tell me what could be done to it? I mean - if standard 2.5 "HDD is Ok, is there a limitation of the motherboard/BIOS card as to the maximum size, etc.. ?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    The manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page;
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/home.do?service=EU&from=http%3A//www.Toshiba-Europe.com/

Here, you should go to support downloads & -> user manual for Toshiba.
    In the upload form, you must choose;
    Archive-> Portege Archive-> Portege 7xxx--> Portege 7200

Maybe you will find some info in the user manual.

But I want to provide some details too.
To my knowledge, several versions of BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. I mean that not every size of HARD drive is supported.
I have goggled a bit and discovered that the Toshiba MK1214GAP HARD drive can be used with the Portege 7200. It s a 12 GB HARD drive that supports ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4 interface.

    Maybe you could test it.

  • Satellite A210 - 17 X-PSAFGE 03600LFR - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello

Someone would be able to help me in upgrading my computer portable HARD drive?

When looking on the Toshiba support, can't get a reference to the HARD drive.

Looking around on the net, I found a few 500 GB for example:
-Western Digital WD5000BPVT WD Blue Mobile HDD internal 2.5 "SATA II 5400 RPM 500 GB
-Western Digital WD Scorpio 500 GB 16 MB 7200 RPM black, WD5000BPKT

Two of these SATA2 HDD would work in my laptop?

Or shall I seek another Ref.?

    Thanks in advance

    Eric

I think you can use both of them. I just hope that all capacity 500 GB is recognized correctly.
After upgrade, please test and send feedback.

  • Satellite A100 - memory and hard drive upgrade

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite A100-158 of the model code PSAA9E-01700VPT. It came with a 80 GB HDD at 5400 RPM S.M.A.R.T. and 1 GB of RAM DDR2 (533 MHz).

I think that my computer slows to a crawl because maybe I thought the hard drive being old and low memory for recent programs and therefore upgrade the hard drive and memory.

A Western Digital Scorpio Black 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB 2.5 inch would fit? According to them, it's running at 7200 RPM with the energy consumption of a drive 5400 RPM (marketing simply bad maybe).

And a memory card Kingston 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz working? It has a higher frequency than my current ram, but then I guess he can withdraw maximum permitted by the motherboard? I guess that's 533 Mhz as my module memory factory. I can also buy a module 2 GB of the same manufacturer exact DDR 2 as well but 667 MHz instead... still higher than my current memory module.

Thanks much for the tips... I hope that this will bring my A100 more in standards without going to a new laptop :)

    Hello

Generally, a HARD drive with more RPM isn't a problem, but he needs a little more power and product more heat, but it should work.
It s based on your application that you are running. For normal use, 5400 RPM should be ok.

The modules of RAM with higher specifications are also no problem because it s downgrade compatible for lower speed (533 MHz).
Kingston is always recommendable, I've never had a problem with these modules. :)
