Hard drives local to the host server, 10 k rpm or 15 k?

Looking at the addition of a couple of hosts "workaholic" into our environment vsphere for some SQL database applications. Is there an advantage to the esx server hosts on 15 k disks running over 10 k?

We use a mixture of San fibre channel/iscsi to all data warehouses, so this isn't for the vm comments just for the esx install.

Just curious to know what you guys are running, and if you see performance gains overall with faster disks to the host install.

Thank you

Kevin

If the disks are only for the accommodation of the operating system, there is not need to spend money for fast readers. You can even run the hypervisor of a patient USB or SD card.

  • How to backup to external hard drive (removable) for windows home server 2011

Your online help recommend ' to use several external hard drives and rotate the drives between onsite and offsite storage locations", but there is nothing that explains the procedures to be put in place. I have vascular 1 internal disk used as a server backup and the desire to attach a USB key and also back up the server and remove location and still allow regular backups to take place on the interal drive.

    Hi JarjarMack,

Given that the problem is related to Windows Home Server 2011, for better assistance, you must post your query in the following Windows Home Server Forum.

  • "If the corrupted hard drive will be the OS can be installed again"

"If the corrupted hard drive will be the OS can be installed again"

If the hard drive has minimal corruption in localized areas, you can reinstall Windows.  You will need to reformat the hard drive, however.  When you get to step in the installation process where it formats the hard drive, do not choose "quick" format  On the contrary, let him do a full format.

  • Internal server messages no longer work when published on the web server, but not locally on the web server

Just upgraded to 8 Captivate and for some reason my server any internal messages is no longer work on the web server.  I can test locally the lesson that always points to the Web server and it works.  Can't understand why when it is on the server it does not work.  The ashx handler that manages to post is fully accessible to the web server and DNS solves very well so I can't understand why he doesn't hit the Manager.  I use IIS to host it and a .ashx for managing for results.

Is there maybe something new that needs to be allowed in IIS for 8 Captivate work?  .js seems to be fine and firewall is not the issue.  Short of ideas and the need for this work as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for your help!

OK, finally solved.  For some reason any run under HTTPS lesson could not publish my results.  As soon as I changed to HTTP the results perfectly. All of this makes sense why I could post locally on the Web server.  Hope this saves someone else 5 days of hell.

  • Can I have macbook start up from my external hard drive instead of the internal HD of the laptop?

I use a macbook air 2014 model and would like to know if I can boot the mac from an external hard drive rather than the inside. The reason to do this is to save space on the laptop and updates can be installed directly on the external hard drive.

Is this possible? Forgive me, because I'm not that tech savvy. Thank you in advance!

Yes. Install or clone of Mac OS X on it and then select it in the pane of the system preferences Startup disk.

  • How to display ONLY the photos on my hard drive and remove the duplicates it.

I bought Photo Sweeper but have heard warnings of ' reference fileis and the risk of the original photo, sitting on the hard drive.  .  Is there a way to see ONLY photos on the hard drive and use Photo Sweeper here?

Background: on my HP PC for years, I've created folders for each Member of our family.  Thus, a paper copy of each group photo were regularly filed in each issue of people pictured in it.  Migration to iPhoto and iMac five years ago, all copies of the same photo were transferred on my Mac.  More recently, I've migrated my iPhotos library of Photos.  I would like to clarify these multiple copies to a hard copy, but I feel of the complications and risks. In particular, the integrity of all the projects I did (for example attach a photo to the album, a book or a slide show) could be compromised if I happen to remove the copy special paper which refers to this picture (the correct term?).

It seems to me that, if I could see the actual photos on the hard drive and use the double Finder here, I could get the job done.  I could combine that info (faces, keywords, descriptions) that I added on a large number of copies and sign him for a single copy and then to eliminate duplicates. Would this work?   Back to a project, I could see a photo with a warning icon, a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside, which indicates the hard drive file to which he referred is now defunct.  I could (I guess I could, but how!) change things to make this photo point to rest a copy on the hard disk, couldn't I?

Tips appreciated.  The notice are maybe just don't not to alter my photo library, but it says that I have almost 30 000 photos. I know this isn't so.   Thank you.

    Your question is not clear

What Version of the operating system and Photos you have? You have a referenced library or a managed library? What specific "warnings" topic referenced b = files you are?

Please explain what you have and what is your concern

  • Can G - sensor on hard drive - I do the external HD?

Hello, I'm going to add a hard drive SSD for the NB200 and I was wondering what the G-sensor added to the size of the hard drive that comes as standard? I would like to take advantage of the internal standard as an external hard drive in an external enclosure via USB.

    Thanks for the info

My friend has a NB200 and I upgraded the HARD drive in it, and I think that the G-Sensor is not part of HARD drive and not added on the HARD drive. Its a component on the motherboard, so you can remove it from the system.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - 2nd HARD drive instead of the CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I found a few solutions to this problem ([solution | http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=page&id=7&chapter=0]), but none of them are dedicated to A660.

There is no device dedicated to tosiba a660?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I know Satellite A660 can't stand not a thin Bay select only some models like the M400 Portege, Portege M750, Tecra M9, Tecra S3 or S4 Tecra, Portege M700 support this feature

So 2nd HARD drive instead of the CD/DVD drive does not seem to be possible

  • HP Envy x 360-m6-w102dx: primary HARD drive Bay * failed the Diag Test

    Hello

When I turned on my laptop this morning, he showed a black screen with text showing "an imminent failure" and run diagnostics. I ran diagnosis on everything, and when he came on the hard drive, it showed a failed test of "Primary hard disk 1 HDD Bay." I tried to contact HP support and all led here. I am very inexperienced with computer problems and would like to find a solution to this. If it helps, the failure ID is 0GC3HW - 7P881T - GXGJMF - 60DT03. That failure came from a SMART hard disk check and I don't know if this seems to indicate a failure of the hard drive and I don't know what else to do. My laptop cannot start and there is no lead back me to the screen black with the same texts when I turn turn it back on.

    Mfortuno, welcome to the forum.

The SMART test does not, therefore, you have a failing HARD drive.  The only solution is to get it replaced.  If you're not compfortable with opening the case of your laptop, you should take it to a computer repair shop called.  While I'm not a big fan of the Geek Squad, they sell HP computers and know them well enough.  You should buy a HARD drive that is the same size or larger and the recovery media can work.  In my view, that it is a video that allows you to install the SSD or HARD disk.

  • How to set up Time Machine via a HARD drive connected to the USB port on the router?

    Hi all

I have an Arris Touchstone Data Gateway DG1670A/TW for my internet / wireless which was provided by my ISP.  There is a USB port at the back of the router and I was wondering if I could connect an external HARD drive to save the two Macbook Pro that I have in my house through Time Machine wireless?  If Yes, could someone provide me the details regarding how to set this up properly?

I too, was thinking about making a 4 TB HARD drive - 2 and wanted to partition so that half of it would work for Time Machine and the other half I would be able to store photos that I take on my digital SLR and are in Lightroom.  Could this be a problem at all? I partition? or Time Machine just to use the available space and delete older backups to make room for additional photos?

Thanks in advance for any help.

A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

  • HP Pavilion 15-e073ca: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion e073ca 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

    Hello!

I intend to add an SSD in my two years 15-e073ca HP Pavilion Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

In other words, there is my plan:

1 remove the real disk HDD hard bay and replace it with the new SSD.

    2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

    3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD, using a recovery USB stick made with my system Windows 10 real (which has been updated from Windows 8.1).

I plan to purchase the following parts:

    1 - a HDD / SSD cart adapter for HP Pavilion 15 (model OBHD9-SATA-SATA-BU9), of NewmodeUS (http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=583)

    2 - a SSD 128 GB (article SDSSDHP - 128G), SanDisk (http://www.sandisk.com/products/ssd/sata/ultra-plus/?capacity=128gb)

I have a few questions before I buy parts:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 - the height of the SSD is 7mm, and it seems that my old HDD is 9.5 mm in height (model WDC WD10JPVT-60A1YT0). It would cause no problem (I need to add spacers)?

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Haghe

Your plan is perfect. The SSD to will of 7 mm that always come back fine it just will be lower in the caddy. The holes and SATA connections are in the same place as a hard drive of 9.5 mm. You can use a spacer (many SSD include one in the box) but not really necessary.

Installing SSD for Windows 10 the way you expect is not really "own", that he will again introduce files and programs, in my opinion and certainly drivers. Whatever it is, it works perfectly and activates the old installation has been enabled.

The hard disk in the optical adapter will not be bootable and will transfer the data a bit slower than a drive in the main compartment, but will still be usable for most cases. If you need fast input/output like Photoshop or video editing move the job file to the first SSD. Alternatively, you may wish to consider documents and photos and other migration on the HARD drive to keep the 128 GB SSD to fill. You can right-click on these files and select 'place' and move them. After the back if you need some help with that.

    Enjoy.

  • T 61 - hard drive problem after the attempt to restore the laptop to the situation of ex-factory

Just to add, is that you use disks of lenovo? I also missed the opportunity to format the hard drive to install one or two times in the past, this was due to windows try to fix and not install clean windows acknowledged there was already an operating system installed on the hard drive and so the installation went into the repair track instead of clean install. You must boot from the CD drive. NOT a partial start of the hard drive then install CD, it won't work.
