Hard drives - power
Good evening
I have a pavillion a6485.it desktop pc with windows 7 32 bit
I'm going to buy a secondary internal hard drive for backup and expansion, but I have a doubt... the installed 300W power supply is the owner of the load on the system?
Connect the hard drive SATA III is compatible with SATA 3 Gb/s motherboard?
Finally, I have to buy a new power supply?
Thanks for the reply!
Hello
1 300W should be ok for the second HARD drive,
2. Yes, SATA III is backword compatible, only a little more expensive.
Kind regards.

Re: Stor.E partner 2.5 "HARD drive power consumption
Hello
My point is, that I m looking for an external drive that uses only 1 x USB and no extra power. (for my plan, I have only a single USB Port free.)
I bought this external hard drive 750 GB.
On its package, it says it works with USB 3.0 and 2.0 and need only 1 x USB Port. without additional power supply via USB or power supply. (on the package do not mount the power consumption.)My problem is, most of the usb Ports (on some PC) are what I have only usb 2.0 a the drive does not not on all Machines.
I Don t understand why Toshiba said, his race on USB 2.0 when he knows that the Spezification USB 2.0 allows 500mA on 1 x USB Port and use Max 900mA drive its almost double the power. So it does not work!
How to introduce the Toshiba, how it works? If I have to take back, because I can't use the drive on all Machines and all Ports.
Please write all the requirements on the package, so I see all the things needed to start on all fittings.Best regards

My computer is running very slowly - i7 (quad) 266 Mhz and Geforce 9800 GTX graphics card. I had this computer for about a year. The problems seemed to start about 3 months when I started to play a game - Empire Total war with Steam. The computer ran more slow and more slowly, gradually. Tecra R850 cuts the power to the HARD drive to the soft reboot
Hello
We have hundreds of these laptops and use the HARD drives encrypted in them.
A soft reboot, they cause the HDD re - encrypt itself due to loss of power when you soft restart.
Someone at - it a work around for this (parameters of the BIOS, the BIOS update) that won't cause this issue for us?
I believe that we are currently on version 2 BIOS. "something"if it helps everything. Thanks in advance,
Sean
The laptop turns off a moment during a warm reboot. An update of the BIOS will not change that.
Maybe you should use Bitlocker.

Tecra A2 used power up after upgrading the hard drive
I have a Toshiba Tecra A2. Hard drive 60 GB factory begins to run out, so I installed a new 160 GB drive.
But the system will not power on with the 160GB inside.
When I press the power button the AC light goes from green to orange and blinks short short short Long Long Long in this sequenceIf I put the original drive, it does not supply power to the top.
Any ideas what I can do about it? I got tired of updating bios on Toshiba website, but he has not made a difference.
Thank you
Hi DenSys,

In my opinion, the case is clear: either this new HARD drive is defective or it s is not compatible to your laptop. But if everything works with the old HDD, you contact the new 160 GB backYour laptop has an IDE interface for HARD drive? If so don t forget that it will be able to manage the hard disks up to 128 GB only due limitation LBA 28 bits. In order to check another model.

Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ does not supply power to the top after removing the HARD drive
Hello world!
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ. It has a 750 GB HARD drive, but it wasn't enough for me. So I bought a Toshiba 1 TB HARD drive. I have undone all the screws, carefully (using my driver's license), lifted up the plastic and removed a HARD disk.
BTW, I really like this plastic solution on the HARD drive!
Then I realized, that all my stuff is still on it.
So I put the HARD drive, I'm going to copy everything on my drive hard Ext. planning.
Well I screwed it back, got the battery, put the back of the AC adapter.Battery charge light was on, indicating that the current flows. I pressed the 'Start' button, and nothing happened. He broke yet still nothing. I plugged the battery and the AC output adapter, I held the Power button for 30 seconds, put everything back still nothing. I got scared. Opened back once more, just to take a look at, so anything that slipped on. Nope.
Everything is a okay. What should do? I have the warranty? I hope not.
Can I fix myself without void my warranty? I hope so!And also: I bought the laptop in Hungary, but I'm in Germany. Can I fix here in case my warranty is valid?
Thank you very much for your help!

Equium A60-692 - no power and removing the HARD drive
The power has gone on my A60-692, the adapter is ok but there is just no no LED on the laptop. I had to get replaced a few years ago so maybe it is related to that of the power connector.

Is it really so hard to fix these things?
How hard is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?Thank you
DaveHello
> I took to a local repair place, he said, it would cost more to fix this, so I should really find it useful laptop only think about recover my data.
I agree with the authorized service provider. My personal opinion is that it s a malfunction of the motherboard and it is a very expensive part. Besides, Equium A60 is pretty old model so it would be better buy you a new laptop and recover your data.> How difficult is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?
It of not difficult, but I m really wondering why you need access to these data. You don t have a backup? In my opinion the backup is the most important thing you need to do on a computer.
Anyway, normally on the underside of your laptop there is a HARD drive cover which is guaranteed by one or two screws. You must remove this cover and then you can see the HARD drive and you're able to remove it.
Also buy an external HARD drive enclosure where you can install the HARD drive. Then you can connect it to another computer to back up your data. ;) -
my diet went power three times in quick succession, I have a Belkin surge in place.
When the power finally settles on my screen was black and the HARD drive has just kept going "ker click, click ker, etc etc. No beeps or anything else.
The computer man couldn't get anything to show even with the new HARD drive. The old HDD is still running... everything "ker by clicking on '...
All systems have the power, the fan, USB ports, the disc recorder drive all are ok.
All secret switches?
Thank you Jay...
computer technology has suggested that it might be the motherboard after testing the HARD drive and it does absolutely no good and whatever he does still nothing worked.
Then... I bought a HP 27 tilt want to replace the Omni 27.
Problem is that the desire has no DVD disc drive...
so... I took one of the Omni and put it in a Slim Data kit USB and that fixed that,
The 16gig of ram instead of the 4 GB installed in my laptop, that made no difference.
Looking for uses for the rest of the expensive bits... :-)

U430 power and key flashes after removing the hard drive
Hello world
I just bought a U430 touch and try to put in an (Sandisk Ultra Plus 256 GB) SSD.
I followed the instructions on how to open the lid and remove the hard drive as described in the maintenance manual. I created a USB startup disk and changed the order of boot from USB. But when I try to press the Novo key to then proceed with the installation of Windows, the power light and keyboard just begins to Flash slowly. I tried it turn instead to use the Novo key and the same thing happens.
I tried to do it with and without the key USB is plugged. I also then put the old hard drive and put the top back on and he always does. I thought maybe that just means that it is in mode 'sleep' but by pressing the power or by pressing the keys does not help.
Can someone help me please?
Thank you.
Pretty beast feeling right now. The memory seemed to bottom, but it wasn't.

Laptop HP Pavilion 15-199sa: power external HARD drive Question
I think to install an SSD and put the HARD drive in an external enclosure USB 3.0.
However, I noticed that the maximum starting current of the HARD disk existing (a Seagate ST1500LM006HN-M151RAD) is cited as 1000mA, while the available USB 3.0 port output is only 900mA.
Should I take particular notice of the "current maximum spin-up ' or do I have to find another way to feed the external enclosure?
All have experience of moving from a HARD drive in an external enclosure?
Thank you!
John latter
Yes mine was 2.5 "internal & put in a usb basket.
very old model notebook too butruns out a usb.2.0 port without problem.
I think you will be fine & find your port can provide 1amp quite easily if necessary.
Usually, all that would happen if port could not feed enough energy would be failure to load the USB device.
The odds are in your favor, just buy a shopping cart 2.5 "usb3.0 of good reputation of quality that will support your large drive
(caddy to take care of 1 or 2 TB is probably more matter than usb3.0, so check caddy spec full power)

Pavilion a6655f: hard drive or power supply problem?
A few days ago, I was trying to low loading part of the steam. My download speed is 30 kbs, obviously not good.
I did some basic checks, malware, viruses, etc., but did not find any problem. I did a diagnostic check and got a BIOHD-8 error code, which indicates a hard drive problem. I decided to try to reset the computer back to the factory setting before changing the hard drive and once that I made and updated windows Vista for several hours, I restarted the diagnosis and he came clean. Then I updated my software, including steam and a few games. Downloads were fast and had no problems. Later that night the computer started to shut down randomly, and I was unable to run any games. Thinking it's maybe a power supply problem, I have replaced my graphics card with an elder who needs less energy. I am able to run without any problems so far. So, I'm looking for help in identifying my problem. HDD problem, power supply, something else? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hard to say without proper trials.
You can use a hardware monitor HW Monitor to monitor tensions it is: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
But there is no software that can test a power supply. You can get a tester of hardware like this too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16899887005
But there is really no of it will predict fails if the power supply, if you overloaded it, if its duration in time high, or if the power supply is a device of poor quality that can be subject to failure.
You can also check that your power cable is comfortably installed on the computer and not frayed. Try a different wall jack where there are fluctuations in power.

T410s Ultrabay problem - hard drive requires more power
I'm working on upgrading a T410s to give it as a gift to my girlfriend. I've already upgraded the ram and had to replace the screen and both went very well.
Now, I'm working on adding a second hard drive with the ultrabay. I'll keep the original SSD as my boot drive and you want to use the ultrabay for a normal HARD drive to increase the total space for her. It is a graphic design / photography major space would be nice.
I bought a 3rd party caddy and a WD Black 750 g 7200 RPM drive through Amazon. I followed the advice that I heard somewhere that you need to make a shortcut of the old EVD to access the new hard disk drive. When I installed the ultrabay and booted up, the computer could not access E:. Nothing happened.
I heard somewhere else ultrabay housing could use only 5 units of power (I don't know if it was watts or volts) and therefore the WD black drive series, I got is likely to need more power to operate (9-12 units). This noise to anyone who has installed a ultrabay correct? Maybe at the time where the T410s first came out, most hard drives use more than 5 units?
Any recommendations? Thank you!
I don't know what are the units of power, and I never heard of the the ultrabay on a T410s not giving a hard drive of all the power he needs. I must admit that I am very skeptical about the claim that you read.
Perhaps the drive has not been initialized because it's new? If you are on Windows 7, click the Start button and type "create and format" in the search bar. You should see the drive it so that it can be initialized. Another way to get there is by going to control panel > administrative tools > computer management > disk management.
