  • How to reset my Equium M50-192 to factory settings?

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on my laptop.

My laptop is a Toshiba Equium M50-192 and I would like to reset to the factory settings (on the box).

I was advised by a friend that I need a recovery disk, but I don't seem to have one. Again, I have everything that came with the laptop when I bought it and have the different discs that came with it, but no recovery disk and have not been able to find the information I need the user manual.

Is there a way I can reset my laptop without a disc?

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    > Is there a way I can reset my laptop without a disc?
It is not possible to reset to factory without reinstall drive settings. You have only one option: get Microsoft WXP installation disc and install the version of the OS.

All the drivers, which you can download from the Toshiba support page.
You can also try, it is to find if someone has the original disc of recovery for this machine and ask if you can get a copy.

  • Upgrade the HDD in Equium M50-192

    Hi all

I have a laptop Equium M50-192 with the HDD 60 GB MK6021GAS inside.
Does anyone know if I can improve it with the hard disk of 120 GB MK1646GSX.

I found the site http://www.storage.toshiba.eu and I checked the two discs; but I don't know if the MK1646GSX disk has a compatible interface type.
I am confused about the differences between ATAPI/IDE (60 GB MK6021GAS) and Serial ATA (120 GB MK1646GSX).

Basically can anyone tell me if the 120 GB MK1646GSX will work instead of the 60 GB MK6021GAS?

    Any help gratefully received.

    Zoe

    Hello

There is a big difference between the IDE HDD and the SATA HDD interface!

Equium M50 supports the IDE interface and only IDE hard drives are compatible.
You can use a HARD drive that supports IDE ATA-6 interface.

In addition, you should know that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported.
In my opinion the 120 GB should be ok but it s just my personal suggestion. You know? ;)

  • Equium M50-192 - upgrade to Windows 7

I have an Equium M50 - 192, model No. PSM59E-003008AV, running on XP.
My PC is Windows 7 and I have two machines on the same OS.

Windows 7 Advisor on the Microsoft website shows that this M50 - 192 is suitable for an upgrade.
I have already increased the memory to 2 GB.

However, when I checked the Web from Toshiba site for pilots, there seems to be no driver Windows 7 for M50 - 192.

Means that I can not upgrade to Windows 7?

    Hello

Of course, you can install the Win 7 OS even if Win 7 drivers are not available for this unit.

From my experience the Win 7 automatically looks for drivers and in most cases, the drivers are automatically installed in my case I didn t need to install the display in addition driver Win 7 found the drivers during the installation and process installation

  • Equium M50-192 DVD & cd Format questions

I have an EQUIUM M50 192 with program DVD + rewritable, but when dounlowding photos from the computer on a DVD in order for playback on other media, it won't work

    WHY?

    Hi Mich

It's not easy to say why it doesn t work. I put t know what program brining you use and what DVD media you are using but it possible s that your use not taken in charge that the media or that you have not closed the session of engraving, etc.

As you can see, there are many possibilities. I use the Nero burning rom software for burning CDs and DVDs. I also created a photo DVD to watch on the TV and it works perfectly.
You should test this program. Maybe you're successfully.

  • Beep codes Equium M50-192

    Hello

I have a laptop Equium M50-192, who decided to stop working.

I get 4 short beeps when I turn it on. The power led lights and fans start but the screen does nothing.

Where can I find beep codes mean?

    Thank you
    Dan

    Hello

It's not easy to say what could be wrong. Beep codes usually appear because the computer MESSAGE fails.
If the Unit falls down the POST (Power on self test) beep code indicates which is originally the laptop does not pass the POST.
The problem is that the bee codes are not standard and each BIOS provides different meanings of postcodes!

As far as I know your device was shipped with Phoenix BIOS if you can try to google a bit for the Phoenix BIOS post codes.

However, for most hardware failure is responsible for these problems. You can try to check the functionality of memory modules.
Remove the simple modules and check if some of the memory fails.

  • Equium M50-192 - startup problem

I have a recently purchased EQUIUM M50-192 who developed a problem starting, a week after the purchase. To try to put the following happens
    Press the button power
    Turn on the light appears
    H/D light access appears
    CD-ROM flashes twice
    Then cut the power

It passes through this sequence also if I open the lid, which suggests that the pc is in standby, IE opening the lid starts above sequence, as if you press the power button / stop.

The same happens to a power supply (shows, seeing attatched and battery charge indicator) or only to batteries, also tried with battery but running.
Have tried boot boot from CD via the F12 key and power at the same time but no luck with that, as mentioned above, I think the computer think it is somehow sleep and does not need to access the restore normal startup sequence. Can't find anything in the documentation re this implies a fault. Currently may not resume as collateral as abroad with out the paperwork he's come up with, for the next 6 weeks.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, have you tried to remove the battery and then put back? Is also the adapter work correctly is the status light indicate a complete change?
If you still not the laptop so that it starts then you don't have much choice but to the send it to Toshiba for investigation.

Its adoption by trying to play a dvd and I have not yet tried to play since this first error, but it keeps recurring.

    Any help much appreciated

    See you soon

    Hello

I completely agree with Akuma. If the same error occurs after installation of recovery it seems to be a graphics card problem.

Before turning to an authorized service provider, you should try to update the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site.

If the new version of the BIOS doesn't help, you need help from the ASP. Maybe the motherboard should be replaced.

    Hello!

What happens to an error you get? Please post what we can help you.

To be honest that I n don't know what you mean with clip Ribbon keyboard but if the keyboard is faulty or something else, the keyboard completely must be exchanged. You are not a unique key or something else.
If you want a new keyboard or other spare parts contact your local ASP.

    Good bye

  • Equium M50-192: battery issue

    Hello

Basically, my problem is that whenever my laptop battery is in and I also have the AC too, the battery automatically takes over from HQ if the battery is flat. Ive had only the laptop about 2 months and it started only recently to happen.

Alternating current only also up a little battery, and then stops to load. And to top it off the laptop sometimes just turns off by itself when its only run off ac power. Worsened in the last week and now I cant charge the battery upward and the computer laptop is always just turn off so I can use the laptop yet.
Before you suggest it, I tried to take the battery and the ac and them plug it back and also tried to use only the ac with the removed battery but there has been no improvement.

It's very frustrating because I take care of property (I rarely move) and it has been great so far.
I think it's probably a claim, however I thought I'd see if anyone knew what was wrong with it or if someone had the same problem and what they were doing.
If anyone has any useful info on this it would be very welcome.

    Hello

Looks like a malfunction of the accumulator :(

Discovered some days ago, I read on the Exchange battery Toshiba voluntary programs.
Likely to be affected battery Pack may not properly load or unload.
I checked this site and found the Equium M50 on the list.
    HTTP://EU.COMPUTERS.TOSHIBA-EUROPE.COM/CGI-BIN/TOSHIBACSG/GENERIC_CONTENT.JSP?SERVICE=EU&ID=0610_BATTERY_EXC HANGE_LANDING_PAGE

The affected batteries were sold in some laptops manufactured between March and May 2006
I think you should contact Toshiba service partner for the verification of the laptop and the battery and I think that you get a spare part.

    Good luck

  • Equium M50 - 192 battery is not completely charged

    Hello

I bought a M50-192 yesterday, took home and tried out worked well. After awhile, I turned it off and let it charge up. My roommate looked at the laptop and decided to remove the battery (the laptop is not was plugged at the time) when he handed over the battery and turned on the laptop we learned the drums as in charge of 100% but it is false because the charging light did not have on the battery has been removed.

Today, I decided to completely discharge the battery and load properly, but after 2 hours, it says its fully charged. In the book it says it should take 4 hours or more.

Is there something wrong with the battery? If so, is there a way I can fix it?

    Thanks in advance
    Robert

    Hello, Robert

In my opinion, you are the same user as 98% others. Please read s manuals. It is detailed describes how to charge the battery for the first time.

  • Equium M50-192. Battery on the current releases.

    Hello
My M50 recently went for repair because it was not post properly and would not boot. He had a new motherboard and an update of the bios (version 1.8). However, since he is back he will charge up to 100% then unload and turn off. The orange "charge" led remains lit even when the power cord is removed.

Any ideas? Please don't say that he must go back. :(

    Thank you.

    Hello

Do you mean the battery LED?
Usually if the captain has been plugged in, the battery LED should light up orange during the charge process. If the battery is full the LED should pass to blue.
I put t know why the battery LED is lit orange, but there may be something wrong with the electronics.
Have you tried to remove the battery for a few times?
Try it. If the problem persists then I recommend requesting the service for more details.

  • Equium M50 - 192 - I get nothing on the monitor

    Hi all

I m in trouble with the screen on my laptop. When the computer is turned on, I get nothing on the screen, not even the backlight. If I turn then to the computer market several times, then the monitor will work.
Once it works there is no problem. If I have a connected external projector that works very well, but I still have nothing on the screen.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

When the external projector is connected, you can switch between the projector and LCD using the FN + F5 key combination? What is your laptop pre-installed with recovery image?

Before you disconnect it external projector please go to the laptop LCD screen using FN + F5 key combination. When the office is back on the LCD screen, remove the connection cable.

    Hello!

What Satellite laptop do you have?

I think that your HARD drive is defective, but you can check with the Drive Fitness Test.
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
Download the image, burn it to a disk and boot from it.

  • Equium M50-192: no sound from speakers or headphones

Sound disappears after working for three months. No sound from speakers or headphones. Verification of the hardware system breaks down.

    Help!

    Hello

If after checking the sound settings package (Panel, controller next to the laptop, etc.) the sound doesn't come out so I guess that the sound card on the Board is dead.
In this case only the ASP will help you solve the problem. Maybe the motherboard must be changed.
