Hauppauge WINTV-HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC

drivers will not load not - says device not found

The version of the Windows operating system that you are running is conspicuous by its absence. This seemingly small piece information and brand/model of embarrassing material are the two most important pieces of information to provide when asking questions on the drivers updated and hardware compatibility.

You should try the Windows Compatibility Center or Hauppauge Support to give advice on compatibility and links to updated drivers.

    Hello GrayWin7,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft answers forums for Windows Vista. I hope you do well.

Alternatively, you can try to perform a clean boot:

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • channels digital vs analog with Hauppauge WinTV - HVR 850 with Windows Media Center

I just bought a Hauppage WinTV - HVR 850 hoping to be able to use my computer as a DVR and record some TV series.

Do not have an HD antenna on our House and have basic cable (which has analog channels, but we can also take digital channels on our tv, which has a tuner).  When I plugged the cord to cable TV from the wall outlet at the end of this device, he searched and found only the analog channels (I tried with only the antenna mounting and it is like 3 stations).  I recorded a show on one of the analog channels and it was fuzzy.

Is it possible to hook it up to my computer so I can get HD cable channels?  We will get an HD soon of our cable company box.  I wonder if he has 2 'out', so I could split that and I have only once to my TV and the other which could plug into this Hauppauge thing? Or the device will do only analog cable and HD with the antenna?

    Any other suggestions?

    You can return the tuner?
The HVR-850 is a cable analog / ATSC tuner.  It cannot set Clear-QAM (digital cable clear.)  I'm sorry.

The HVR - 950 Q can set Clear-QAM, however.  Note, however, that this Tuner cannot be switched on the fly between modes - you choose which you want (analog cable, or clear-QAM) during the TV configuration.

There are a lot of tuners out there which, frankly, are far more capable than what is the HVR-850.
Is this a desktop or a laptop?  If a desktop computer, what you have for the available expansion slots: PCI, PCIe, or not at all?

    Another question / comment:
Media Center for Windows Vista can't Clear-QAM, unless your version includes TV Pack 2008 (not available for download, by the way.)  "It was an option installed by OEM).  Some manufacturers of tuner, however, provide "workaround" pilots who are MC think it's a tuner ATSC (which is supported.)
Could you at tasks > settings > General > about > version of the software and after the version number that appears there?

    Kind regards
    Chris

  • What should I do to get my card of Tuner TV Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 on another computer?

I'm taking this card on a HP Media Center PC and put it in a HP PC replacement. What cables are needed as I dropped the 'wired' cables in the old PC. It seems that they were connected to the grid and taken them before. This card will interfere with anything, or is it a standalone and ok to reinstall it on another PC?

Ask in Hauppauge.  It is a hardware problem - not the software and not a Microsoft product.  Your best support comes from those who did and therefore take over the product.

  • Tuner tv WinTV-HVR - 950Q with built in ir does not work in WMC

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I use a Hauppauge Win TV - HVR - 950Q with IR, tv tuner built-in and I also have a remote control supplied with the tuner. I connect to a cable box. During the implementation of WMC, I get an error message that says THAT WMC cannot detect any IR material. Someone at - it successfully implemented this particular tuner? If so, can you tell me how did you have the IR error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    See http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_mce.html.

You need the driver package to present the Media Center IR Hauppauge remote control.
  • Hauppauge wintv hvr1950 driver

After having a terrible time, installing drivers for Hauppauge usb tv tuner.  I managed to install the equipment on a laptop in my house which has exactly the same OS (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit).  The material is recognized, but the drivers do not properly install any technique I try - the manufacturer's CD, downloaded the drivers from the manufacturer, update the driver in Device Manager - none of these work correctly.  I also tried the update automatically metrhod and have meythod of disk.  The manufacturer has abandoned and cannot solve the problem.  I have to clean install the OS again?

As you suggest, a new facility did the trick.  The device installed instantly, no problem.  I have now another problem, but that is probably not on the Microsoft page.  The problem is that when I scan the channels and FM frequencies, it does not find the channels or radio stations!  I know that the external antenna works very well because I have a big screen HD TV set at the same antenna and that it receives a beautiful picture and sound at least 20 channels.  The FM antenna that I use is the little folded dipole that comes with the tuner.  The FM signals in this area are very strong and a wet noodle had to collect at least 25 stations.  My stereo (in the same room) has essentially no antenna on it and it gets more stations that I can handle so I don't know that it is not a signal strength.  I'll take that one to the top with Hauppauge.  Once again, thanks a lot for your help (if nothing else, you waded in my terrible tale of evil!)   Merry Christmas to you.

The protected content message could be caused by a number of elements.  Your monitor must be connected with a DVI cable that is HDCP. Your video card must support HDCP, and finally the video card driver must support HDCP.  The PC may need to be required to manage the video stream protected content.

I see that the motherboardof your PC has only VGA, so if that's how your monitor is connected, then this is probably the issue.  Install a discreet video with a DVI card and then use a DVI cable would probably solve the HDCP issue.

Install a discrete video card could also mean that you need to supply. Unplug your computer and open it. Read the label on the power supply unit (PSU).  What is the total power and amperage on the bus + 12 volt?  The amount of amperage + 12 volts is important when choosing a video card.
