Have a Windows update and my screens are all screwed up now, Please HELP!
I am running Vista Home Basic and day before yesterday when I rebooted my computer, a Windows update itself installed. He said he was installing 1 of 1 files. I knew the idea of what the update was for, but when I brought my system to the top of the screen and all open windows, including web screens are all strange and almost hourglass like? I tried to restore my system to three times, tried to adjust resolutions and even settings on my old monitor and nothing works. It also seems that all icons and things are a little bit bigger and I don't see anything on the left and the right of my screen. Can someone help me? The only thing that seems normal is the password screen that appears when I turn on my computer before I get to my home page? Any ideas?
Hi PVneedshelp,
Welcome!
I suggest that you try to system restore to the point before you install the update by using the Windows vista installation disc.
To use the Windows recovery environment, you must have the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc. To start the Windows recovery environment, follow these steps:
1 put the installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. press a key when you are prompted.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
3. Select a language, a time , and monetaryand a method of keyboard or input and then click Next.
4. click on repair your computer
5. in the dialog box System Recovery Options, click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click System Restore to restore the operating system to the restore point created when the program or the driver has been installed.
Check out the link for more information below.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/restore-your-computer-from-a-system-image-backup
If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you uninstall the display adapter driver that is present on the computer and then install the latest driver for graphic map of the manufacturer's Web site and check if it works very well.
You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.
How to uninstall a computer device driver.
1. open the Manager of devices by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. in Device Manager, look for the device you want to Update, and then double-click the nameof the device .
3. click on the tab driver , then click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
Once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer and then install the driver to view CAD that you downloaded from the website of computer manufacturer.
Also suggest to run Windows updates and make sure that you install the availability.
1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programsand then click Windows Update.
2. in the left pane, click check for updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.
3. If updates are found, click install updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

got the computer, needs update and my name instead of the former owner, please help
Purchased from personal, but he left all her things, but has not received the disc to reinstall or updaye, then, how can I do this without crashing the computer?
Thank you.
Buy a used computer, it's always a good idea to reinstall Windows to restore to condition buy and go from there. It eliminates any malware content and possible questionable. In the last semi computers OEM (Dell, Hp, Acer, etc.), there is a recovery partition on the hard drive that can restore your machine bought as a condition. The manufacturer saves a dollar or two for the supply of the discs. Usually it's hit a key or combination of keys when the first splash screen appears when you start the computer. Go to the manufacturer's website, click on the link "Support" and search for "Download" and download the manual for your computer. It must contain instructions on how to restore it.
If you decide to keep your current configuration, but to change the name of the owner, please see the following article:

Windows xp/ie8...tried all... Please help
Tried to install Flash Player under Winows XP - IE8 for days. I seem to have the same problems as a lot of users. Tried to solve the problem through troubleshooting, forums, etc. for everyday. Someone help me please!
Hi, Ok on the Shockwave Flash Object Enabled and vs 10.1.102.64, I guess. It should be the same version as the Flash Player, you just installed.
Yes, Flash Player appear in your add/remove. The Shockwave Flash Object is the ActiveX control that is in the IE addons and works with the Flash files that you listed. You have both listed.
All the files Flash for IE and FF are correct.
OK on the info on msconfig. The lower bar is the status bar system, with program icons? These are just shortcuts that you can use to start one of these programs. If you make a right click on Quicktime and open, then you can use it. Some users like the ones they use most frequently there instead of in the Start Menu. Harmless :-)
Java will give a prompt when an update is available and the version latest update 23, you find now in Add/Remove.
Check and see and if it is listed, then delete all the other listings of Java, then restart.
As far as I know, no program updates automatically except if you have configured this way. Even Windows, you can choose to be notified. With msconfig or other programs, you can set your desired program starts. I left all load them at startup and don't worry in this regard. But that's just me :-)
In summary, you now have Flash Player installed correctly as well as the Shockwave Flash for IE object. Everything about the Flash Player is correct.
Take care of the above Java.
Then go to youtube and I would like to know if you can watch videos, or if you receive messages. Ignore something any message that you receive. Let me know. Yes, 'post back' means simply reply back with the info.
Thank you

I use a laptop HP Pavilion dv4-1220us with Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1, a 64-bit operating system, and I have problems with Windows Update and Windows Installer. When I try to install programs, I get the following, or substantially similar message without the error code:
"Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if Windows Installer is not installed properly. Contact your support team. »
So I tried to download Windows Installer 4.5 and install it. When I try to start the installation, it always hangs on the first step, "Initializing Installation."
After searching for a solution to this problem, I found that Windows Update may have a solution. So I downloaded the 64 bit version and got a file named 'file Windows6. 0-KB942288-v2 - x 64. I tried to run this file. He opened a box that said, in order "Prepare for Installation", "Full Preparation", and finally "Searching for Updates ', before you open a second box, which reads" click OK to install the following Windows software update: fix for Windows (KB942288). I clicked on OK in this box, which opened another box, which says at the top "updates are installed" and in a smaller section, "initializing for Installation................... »
However, no matter how long it works, it never gets past "Setup initialization."... »
So I tried to run Windows Update in Control Panel. He ran for a while, before giving a message saying "to check the updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update." I clicked on the button that says "install now". He has flashed, a moment, "download and installation of updates' before you go to the"check for Updates"and then he brought back the exact same upward ' to check updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update" message as before. I clicked install now once again, only to go into the exact same loop. After about four times in a loop, I gave up on it.
So I tried to install Windows Installer 3.1v2, which took a while before saying "not enough memory is available to process this command." and the abandonment of the installation.
So, I tried to download a program from 'Mr. Fix - it' of Microsoft. It downloaded fine and then failed on installation, because of the same Setup error I received initially.
Finally, I tried to restart my computer and each solution is represented. Then I clean my computer and each solution is represented.
In conclusion, the mistakes that I have in Windows Update and Windows Installer cordoned off each other, as the mistakes of each program are based on the other program to be repaired. I'm at my wit's end here. My computer works fine without one, except that I can't install new programs. I can access the internet fine, access files fine, all my scans have developed own... I don't really know what is happening. Can someone help me with this?
Try the sfc scan:

Windows Update has appeared today when we started one of our machines, informing us that there are some installed updates. After reviewing the updates, we clicked on the "Install now" button, and immediately, it failed with the above error code.
I tried to run regedit a reason unrelated, and it came with a dialog box error with "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. »
After researching here and elsewhere on google and did not find anything suitable, put us in the Win7 disk, recovery tools and tried to go back to a previous system restore point (3 days).
The restoration went well, restarted, but the problem persists.
Then, we just tried to install anti-malware software, but when trying to run the installer, we get a different error message indicating 'ShellExecuteEx failed; Code 577 "and then the same message on the verification of the digital signature.
The computer is running fine all yesterday and has worked very well since just after the new year when he has been upgraded to Windows 7. No material changes have been made, and no software changes were made by users in the course of last week.
The computer is an AMD Athlon II X 4 with 4 GB of RAM on a motherboard Asus M4A78-EM, linking a 64 GB SSD, with a 250 GB drive SATA data/programs. GPU is a Nvidia 260, and it has a CD and DVD player as well. It is connected to our router using the gigabit ethernet interface motherboards.
It was under windows 32 - bit XP SP3 up just after the new year. When we put in place the new SSD to replace a hard drive older than we have did a new install of XP (slipstreamed with SP3) and then used the upgrade 32-bit W7 Home premium DVD version to upgrade the system. Since then, the system runs flawlessley.
On the machine is MS office XP, Firefox 3.6.3, AVG 8.5 and a few games such as the Turbine DDO.
The main user account used to try to solve these problems and to run Windows Update and try installing programs is a member of the Administrators group.
Firefox works fine, serve, and he plays the games installed very well also. AVG reports to date, with no problems and has detected no threat.
However, try to view the registry with regedit, or start Viewer event or compmgmt.msc that all do appear the message "cannot verify the digital signature.
***************************************************
Can anyone offer an opinion on what might be wrong with this facility please, and how we could do to solve?
Cannot run chkdsk/scandisk as he bought the message "cannot verify the digital signature" etc etc.
This morning, the machine began to behave differently - stop playing back badly, refused to start Device Manager, open Control Panel correctly etc.
So, I reset the BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM, slapped XP SP3 in reinstalled, then upgraded to Win 7 again.
Still have no idea what caused the problem, but it seems to be gone now - reinstalled the same applications, AV / programs anti-malware, games, etc and everything seems to go fine now.
* shrug *.

I signed on XP Pro SP3 as an administrator but you cannot change the timing of Windows Update to 03:00. All options are not enabled. How can I change the time that updates are made?
Hi imoffshore,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.
We would like to get some more information from you to help solve your problem. You better, please answer the following questions.
· When was the last time it worked?
· Remember to make changes to the computer recently?
· You have security software installed on the computer?
· You get the error message?
When you open the tab automatic updates in the control panel or My Computer property sheet, all options of configuration of the automatic updates may be grayed out. This happens due to one of the following reasons:
- You are not logged as administrator (or equivalent)
- Strategy of automatic updates is enabled
- Automatic updates (and Windows Update) access is blocked by group policy
The options available for automatic updates.
You must make some changes in the windows registry.
Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. You must download and install Windows XP Service Pack 2 (if not already installed) followed in Windows XP Service Pack 3. You will find two of them at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads - download the "Network Installation Package" for the two and ignore the part about them being only for the professionals - the parcel I recommend you download will install with or without network connection.
