Have Windows 7 COA but not the product key
I bought Windows 7 Professional during a promotion that has Microsoft for students in the fall of 2009. I ordered a backup for Windows 7 disk, the certificate of authenticity, but not the product key. The key has been sent by e-mail, but is now over. When I try to look it up on the site of Microsofts Digital River, most of the links related to Windows 7 is broken. Is there anyway that I can get my product key recovered or replaced if I have the certificate of authenticity located on the packaging of the backup drive?
If you still have this copy of Windows 7 installed, you can try to recover the product key:
Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:

For Digital River: go to www.findmyorder.com and pick up your order or you connect to your account information for this site. Hello
Have you looked to see if you have a recovery partition to reinstall Vista from?
If you do, press F11 at startup to start the recovery process.

Regarding your original question.
There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

I can install Windows 7 without initially providing the product key?
Peut I install Windows 7 without initially provide the product key during installation? I'd rather go once the installation is finished, I just have to copy and paste it in the email like that.Hello
Yes, you can try a free key of Windows 7 Installation. But be sure that you enter the product key to activate Windows wihtin 30 days grace period. Once the 30 days grace period end your system will go in any safe and you may need to reinstall the copy again.
Unlike Windows Vista, if you si vous achetez buy Windows 7 DVD you get specified edition disk and installation you will not get an option to select the edition. Almost to the last step of the Installation, you will get the opportunity to enter the product key that you can jump and try to enter the product at the time of the Activation key.
Thank you

I have an old laptop that I am trying to set up for my daughter. It had XP on it and I have a physical disc of Windows 7 I have installed on it. I bought 7 retail to upgrade to Vista and have since upgraded to 10. The product key is coming as invalid. I thought that I could use it again since I upgraded from 7 to 10. Is the product key invalid, because I already used it once even if I'm not on 7? Can I buy just a key somewhere or I have to buy a new copy of 7 again? It installed fine that I just can't turn it on. Thank you.

Windows 7 product key
Because the free update of Windows 10 used the license to the retail of Windows 7 as an eligible basic license, you cannot transfer it elsewhere or you reuse.
You will need to purchase a new license of Windows 7 or buy a license for version full Windows 10.
My recommendation to waive the license of Windows 7, I would buy a full version license Windows 10.
Once you do this, you can just update the values of product key for your system runs Windows 10, and then reactivate the license of Windows 7 by phone.
Buy Windows 10 family/professional edition

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.
15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.
So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

Hello Tony
It depends on the type of license that is on the PC. to determine this, the simplest method is to run the MGADiag tool:
Download MGADiag (by Microsoft) from the link below:
http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012
Run the tool by double-clicking the file. Press to continue when prompted
When it is finished, press on copy and then paste (Ctrl + V) in your next post please
Please also indicate which version of windows is mentioned on your COA sticker (if you have one) but do not publish the key.

Windows 8 Beta - cannot verify the product key
Hi all
After you have installed Windows 8 beta last year on my laptop, I bought the upgrade to the full version of Windows 8 and received a product key by e-mail as part of the purchase or download. Now, I'm trying to use the same disk of Windows 8 Beta to install the OS on my desktop. After you enter the product key, I get a message saying "cannot verify the product key - check your installation media."
Can someone explain why the beta key does not work and if I get a new key?
Thank you
No, you can't, but what you can do is, use the following link to download and create the installation media that you can use to upgrade other computers.
Please note, if other computers are running versions of 32-bit or 64-bit, you will need to create a respective installation media corresponding to the architecture of the facilities running on these computers (32 or 64-bit):
If you must reinstall Windows 8 or you want to install it on one partition and you do not have installation media, you can create it using the installer of Windows 8. To create a support, you must use a PC running Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7, and it must have the same architecture (32 or 64-bit) than the PC you want to install Windows 8.1 on. You will also need your product key of Windows 8.
You can usually find your product key in your online order information, in the confirmation email of your purchase, or on the DVD packaging. The product key will look something like this: XXXXX - XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
Once you have your product key and you are on a PC running Windows 7, Windows 8 or 8.1 of Windows, follow these steps:
Run the program installation of Windows 8 .
When you are prompted to run or save the file, choose run
When you are prompted to enter a product key, enter the 25-character product key, that you received when you purchased Windows 8.1.
When you are prompted to install Windows 8.1, select install by creating media and then click Next.
Select the type of media you want to use: either a Flash DRIVE or a DVD.
To create a USB flash driveClick on a USB flash drive.
Plug the USB key into a USB port on your PC.
When you are prompted, select the USB key that you want to use, and then click Next.
If you have files on the USB flash drive, it will remove them.
To create a DVDClick on the ISO file, and then select the location where to save the ISO file.
Insert a blank recordable DVD into your DVD drive.
Burn the ISO of the DVD file using Windows disc Image burner, or another program DVD burning.
Please note that you will have a unique individual license (product key) for each computer you want to upgrade.
You can buy additional product keys to:

install windows with the product key
someone I gifted an old laptop with a lot of things about what I don't want and stuff I want is missing. I would like to know how to re - install windows on the laptop with the product key on the back of my laptop.
or, even better, if someone could find me a way to get a disk to restore to factory without purchasing information, which would be awsome.
I thank you for your time and have a good day.
If the laptop is one of the well known brands, he may well have a restore partition. If you do not have a manual to the user of this computer, then go to the manufacturers website and look for the documentation. At the very least, you should be able to find information about how to restore the laptop from the recovery partition.
If the restore partition has been decimated, the manufacturer may still have available for a nominal cost of installation diskettes.
