    Hi all!

I have the Toshiba Satellite C660-1GK for a year and a half. After 6 months, my hard drive is dead.

First the laptop has been really slow, then started the famous clatter of the disc.
I made backup and checked the disk with tools from Hirens. Toshiba diag will read even not she, Smart said that his State of health is bad bad sectors (30% or more), began to burst... I therefore took the laptop to my ASP.

They replaced the disc and then 13 months later (a week ago) the same story! Disk health went even lower (was 11%) and bad sectors initially jumping like crazy.
Once again, a trip to ASP.

I have my laptop today with a new drive. After that reading posts on this forum, I'm afraid that there or card mother/problem of power or we're just all with no luck with readers.

I just, I can't accept that the disks die randomly every 4-12 months to meet. My last drive on HP laptop lasted 4 years! I have about five more months of warranty and I'm really not satisfied with the situation. This laptop is on my desk, it has own station with nice, big fan so this isn't overheating - basically, I took out of the House in September.

I'm careful with it! But if the disk dies before the end of the year, maybe it's time to get a new laptop.
    Toshiba no, this time :(

Please, you have any ideas, advice... ?

    Hello

A few years ago, I bought a laptop from another manufacturer.
My first HARD drive died after over 2 years of use. I bought another, has replaced the old HDD and the new HARD drive died after 4 months of use.

No matter which HARD drive is going to die sooner or later because his part instrumentation it s a question of HARD drive use and the question of how you handle all.

In my opinion it s a bad luck of course sound always pity if a HARD drive starts to malfunction but I m afraid there are not many options to prevent it.
Of course, you can switch to a SSD drive which is stable in use. I did a few months ago, I bought the 250 GB SSD drive and replaced the internal HARD drive

  • HP Pavilion dv7 second HDD installation problem

    Hello

I recently bought an internal WD7500BPVX 750 GB SATA HDD compatible with my HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030eV to be used as a second hard drive, since I already have a 250 GB HARD drive on the laptop. I also bought a SATA cable which I think is compatible and a caddy for the disc. When I connected the SATA cable and pressed the Start button the laptop powered upwards for about a second and then stop.  I disconnected the SATA cable and left only 250GB driver connected. When I turned on again your laptop booted normally. Once I tried to connect the new HARD drive again the same thing happened. Any ideas what might be happening? I checked two times for parts compatibility before you buy, but I can't rule out it as a cause.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Hello

This series does not start with two different hard disks. If you want a second hard drive, you need the same 250 GB drive as the original to make it work.

  • Win 2008 R2 X 64 - HDD SCSI problem

    Hello

I tried the version of VMware Workstation 7, and I found a very strange problem.

    I downloaded the iso rating of the Site Microsoft's Windows 2008 R2 x 64.

When I create a new virtual machine, select compatibility, and then select the type of the operating system to install, select Windows Server 2008 x 64 rx.

When I start the virtual machine for operating system installazioe can not find the HARD drive has returned the error that cannot find the Disc.

When creating the VM, I left everything on recommendations, here I find myself with: LSI Logic SAS (Reccomanded) and SCSI (Reccomanded).

I tried to go with sharing usb drivers, to find the driver but not install.

    LSIMPT_SCSI_W2k8_1.28.03.zip - LSI logic-

    LSImpt_SAS_SRV08_P16_13002.zip - LSI logic SAS-

Workstation 7 (trial version) is installed on Windows XP 32-bit and the BIOS I've activated the VT from Intel.

I think that the driver that is required is for the CD - not for SCSI drives.

This happens every two days - first has the correct size of ISO?

There was no end of corrupt downloads reports

  • Satellite Z930-N13 - SDS HDD password problem

So I bought a 2nd hand Z930 (with no backup drivers/software) and setting up my password I ticked the box to replicate the password for the HARD drive.

When it is restarted I see a flash error message up but he has not read in time.
It restarted and asked the password - typed in - confirmed. Password HARD drive - not confirmed!
So now, I can't have in the laptop. This can be corrected?

I think I should buy a 256 gb SSD to replace and find all the drivers, and then reformat the laptop - that will work?

I am struggling to find the retailer in the United Kingdom asking them to remove the BIOS password - think that the new SSD would anyway be a cheaper solution?

Any help would be appreciated! I'm threadders - he only had 5 flippin minutes!

    Hello

HARD drive password can be deleted if you do not know the password or the password is wrong.
I have no idea of what happened during the game of password but the fact is that BIOS password and password HARD disk are not the same.
Both can be set in the BIOS of THE separately.

In case the HARD drive password cannot be deleted, the HARD drive would be useless

    > I think I should buy a 256 gb SSD to replace and find all the drivers, and then reformat the laptop - that will work?
Yes, the HARD drive password does not affect the new hard drives or SSD drives but only the HARD disk that was attached to the laptop, while the password has been set.

  • Satellite A100 - 065 (PSAANA) - can I spend it with a SATA2 HARD drive?

    Hello Forum!

I want to upgrade to a hard disk of 120 GB (Hitachi) to a 500 GB (Western Digital). I don't know if this A100 supports SATA2.

I think it's to do with the hard disk controllers that are on the motherboard. This is information I don't think (using the pc Wizard). I am very happy to use a SATA drive, if it is the one which is compatible, but if it supports SATA 2, then obviously I would install a because they are 3GB of bandwidth instead of 1.5 GB as SATA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated that my hard drive is full.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You can use a SATA2 HDD without problems. These discs hard are compatible downgrade to the old SATA1 standard, so you can use 500 GB HARD drive, as you suggested.
But don t forget it will not work with SATA1 speeds, but this should not be a problem normally.

So have fun with the new HARD drive! ;)

    Good bye

  • External hard disk compression

-What this means: "compress this drive to save space?  I have a HDD external I store most of my files and data. It's the drive that I back up my files on the computer, just in case I should need to restore my system.

Can compress a disk drive (my external HDD) create problems with the performance of my system.  I apologize: I have Windows Vista Basic Home Addition.  Pls advise.

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter,

    Pookie Bear

    Hello Pookie Bear,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Compression of your hard disks of data gives you more space, however, you will see a performance decrease as when the computer needs to access the data, it must first unzip, write to it, then recompress it.

In addition, you encounter the risk of data corruption.  I don't know the size of your external hard drive, but if it's big enough, you shouldn't worry about compressing.

Please let us know status.  Thank you!

  • Installing a recovery for my HP Envy drive.

This all started when I installed Windows 10 Beta.  So I decided that I didn't use so I put the USB recovery disc supplied with my laptop HP ENVY 15t Quad TouchSmart.

I called HP and they said I had ruined the boot partition.  I told them that I had no problem installing 8.1 of Windows Pro to my USB on this drive.

They told me they would send me a new hard drive and the recovery media and that should take care of the problem.

I installed the HDD without problem.  I then tried to install the operating system from the recovery drive, they sent me and it would not install.

A person that is supposed to set the BIOS to the factory settings and that would take care of the problem.  There can be no.  Here are the three mistakes I get.

CHKERRBB. CMD: Detect an error in the PINIST_BBV.

    Check C:\system.sav\lops\BurnBootWarn.log

    or, visit C:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log

Can I install Windows 8. Pro that I bought and downloaded from Microsoft and put it on a USB key.  Which installs fine.  I do not have a separate partition for this install.  Should I have?

So if Windows Pro 8.1 works fine, I would try reinstalling the Recovery Drive HP sent me, or just leave what I have?

I did, but that no longer works.  So I just got by doing a dual boot for Windows 10 Beta and Windows 8.1 pro.  So far, everything is OK.

I solved my problem.  But the fact remains that these three errors must be addressed by HP.  Thank you for your help.

Recently there have been a few keys purchased from auction sites appear here as not authentic, they appear to be related to this HROnline HrOnline code: 0xC004C4A2. If you have purchased a key on EBAY please understand that the seller would have sold this key to several people, causing the key more on the blacklist. These keys were never intended for resale, they were intended for the software development or assessment depending on the program that they were obtained through. If you have purchased one of these keys and it became not genuine with the above code, you must purchase a new license for windows 7. Try to validate by going to www.microsoft.com/geniune and follow the links provided to repair windows.

Added note. You have only a limited amount of time (45 days I think) filing a claim with the auction sites. Stay away from these keys, if you purchased a key that has turned non-genuine and are within 45 days of purchase file a claim. There are publishers of legitimate software on auction sites, but if it sounds too good to be true then don't buy it.

It seems that you run a license for a particular channel. Yes, you might have a holographic disc perfectly to research, but this does not mean that the license is legitimate since its easy these days to make records of the hologram. The people who work at the factory can secretly create discs of hologram they resell on the black market or buy press machines to do the job.

  • Problems with Toshiba HDD Recovery

    Hello

A few days ago, I bought a new Toshiba Satellite notebook, everything was going well until I started to delete or disable the programs that have been added automatically with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on the HARD drive,
because for me, most of them is really unnecessary and everytime when I checked the Task Manager it had before any process of more than 80.
If everything seemed great until I rebooted the computer, after that there wasn't one more chance to log in windows, I tried several times, but without effect, even I tried via safe mode.
It seemed like they were reduced.
So I decided I will upload I want to install the new Windows 7 different version on the HARD drive, without thinking that he might restart former.
and the problem started here because the hardware does not recognize the new version of Windows, I have all the drivers, I tried to download and add them, but did not work.
Even Device Manager does not properly because it does not show same me I have the graphics card ATI, network card...

I know I reacted stupidly, but is there a possibility that I can reboot, reinstall the old primary windows again, because I didn't erase them or I na not format the HDD but I installed the new version on
One older so that they are still in place on the HARD drive, but under another brand windows.old.
I also have on the other HARD drive recovery partition, or it's just better to him distribute service where they can solve the problem.
If you have any tips or advice please tell me!

    Thanks for your response

    AL

Oh AL what are you doing man. I mean why do you all this?
The first step, you must do it with the new device is to check the s manuals and pick up some info about your new product.

In this manual is clearly described that original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive and very important, is to create recovery DVD that you can use in the case if the HDD recovery procedure will not longer work.

    So what you have now?
-screwed to the top of operating system
-Nothing in the hand who can help you with recovery of OS install

Only thing you can try now is to start HARD drive recovery in the hope that everything will work OK.
Here the instructions how to do this > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

If this does not work, you have a big problem.
Anyway send comments and let's see what you can do as the next step.

  • Impossible to safely remove external USB HDD - ejection of mass storage device problem

    Hello

I have a 250 toshiba external hard drive. "When I go safely remove device and click on stop, guests me that ' ejection of mass storage device problem and try later.

Is there a reason for this? As I have heard it is dangerous to pull the cord without stopping it first.

This happens usually when something is always access to the USB - HDD.
Yes, it s dangerous to pull on the cable, because you can lose some data and the file system may be damaged. But if you have a situation where you need the drive to take with you and want to just get out the cable to the USB port there is a little trick to disconnect the security apparatus:

Do right click on 'My Computer'-> click on Hardware-> click "devicemanager"-> go into "diskdrives"-> then you need to click on the drive that is your USB - HDD-> with the right button and then click on 'Properties'-> in the menu properties of this drive, you must go on "policies" and click on "optimize for quick removal"-> and then click OK and exit this menu and all-> perform a reboot-> closing information fact. :)

After that, it s safe for remove you your drive even if it s not ejected. :)

    Welcome them

    Thank you very much

    Hello

At first was a little bit the theory for a better understanding.

In the latest Toshiba delivered recovery facilities DVD discs with all the new models of laptops. "" Since then, I think, two or three drives of years facilities are not part of the package and recovery image is saved on the HARD disk and the recovery disc can be created using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. This recovery image is not saved on a separate recovery partition but on the second partition of HARD drive (data partition E) in the folder called HDDRecovery.
The screenshot on 1.5 GB WinRE partition has therefore nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery image.

This creation of recovery operation may work with the factory only settings. with other words, if you change the partition structure, or if you deleted this folder HDDRecovery you won't be able to create the recovery disk or install the operating system using HARD drive recovery option.

I guess that you do not have this folder HDDRecovery more and because of this, Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator starts with error message. This tool needs direct access to these data recovery to create the drive recovery facilities.

I think all this bother you much, but it's your fault. Reminder with the trace message is preinstalled on each Toshiba notebook with HDD recovery:
    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need to repair your computer in the restaurant to the original factory condition, you can do it directly *.
    * from the HDD (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original state that is installed at the factory, even if your computer is severely damaged.*

What you can do now is to order the new original facilities Toshiba drive under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or you can use the Microsoft installation for the installation of the OS disc. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

If you have any other questions please let us know.

    Bye and good luck.
