HDD Recovery Fail on Satellite L300 Vista

I'm arrogant and not install virus protection software and eventually get drowned in the spyware rather than go through the hassle of trying to remove each of them so that they slow down the computer to a halt, I decided to restore the factory State.

It seems easy, but now after the first part (a command window with a percentage) he told me that he had no HARD drive recovery.
What can I do now that I can't use my computer, I don't have a Vista disc because Toshiba has asserted that I could recover from the hard drive I could use XP if there is no quick fix I have a drive for this, but how easy is it to find and install all the drivers, incidentally It's a Satellite L300.

I have no idea why the recovery partition does not work that way, while the guys do you recommend I do?

Thanks, man.

Have you tried to start the HARD drive recovery?
Simply press the F8 key after laptop powered upwards and choose fix my computer.

Usually, this will help you start the recovery disk again.

If this is not possible then you will not be able to recover the laptop without the Toshiba recovery disc.
He really stupid situation if you didn't create the recovery disk before this problem happened :(

Well, your last chance would be this site:
https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

Here you can order a new Toshiba Vista recovery disk

Good bye

  • Re: Satellite L300: Vista demands the keys to the series after update

I should come to you today because I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite L300 and I don't know who to go to?

    The problem is:
I do the update for my laptop last night (January 29, 2010) and now my surprise, my computer asks me to activate my WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM... thing that I don't understand. Because I have my laptop since November 11, 2008 and I have never had such a problem.

    Hello

It's really strange since the Toshiba, preinstalled operating system (any OS there is) is already activated and you need t to enter the serial key.
I m not sure why, but I think that Member States updates affected activation and, therefore, this pop up message.

    In your case, I just only advice;
I recommend to recover the laptop again, you can use HARD drive recovery option which allows you to reinstall the operating system without the use of any recovery disks

After the installation of the new operating system, try to update the new Win Vista

    Welcome them

  • Error messages when you try to retrieve satellite L300 Vista

I have a Satellite L300, which keeps freezing upwards so when I tried to do a recovery I got an error message 10 D 045 fa12 and when I tried to completely erase the disk, I got an error of the FFE 20 045D

This unit was sent to toshiba for repair and technicians said there was nothing wrong with the unit, but my research tells me there is probably a fault requiring the replacement of the HARD drive - so now that my warranty just expired do - what I do? Can I still take the unit for repair since the issue of original warranty has never properly addressed? or is there a way I can fix the error?

If the warranty has expired, this can be a problem now, but I wonder why you did not react immediately when you saw that there is a problem.
On this forum, you can find several threads with the same problem and if you have time try to read this that people writing here.

I can imagine there is problem with HARD drive, the HARD drive can be replaced but you can do it alone.
It's really not a big deal.

  • Satellite L300 - Vista asks me for a key

I recently bought a Satellite L300-1CU with Windows Vista already installed.

When I start the programs that they ask me to enter a key, when I entered the 25-character key found on the Windows sticker at the bottom of the computor as computor says it's the wrong key.

I'm doing something wrong? If not, where can I get the right key of.

I doubt that Vista asks for a key. I think you mean Microsoft Office, right?

Well, the button on the underside is for Vista preinstalled, NO Office but normally you can see from the thumbnail (Windows Vista product key)

On Toshiba laptops there s only one Office pre-installed trial version and if you want the version complete, you must pay for it.

  • Satellite L300 - Vista downgrade to XP

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite L300. I have some programs that do not work under Vista. Can I Downgrade Vista to Windows XP?
    And how can I do?
    Thank you

Try to set the AHCI in the BIOS mode comatible.
Then you wouldn't need the SATA driver.

But usually the Intel Storage Manager should help you too...

In any case, try to change the settings in the BIOS...

  • Recovery failed on Satellite P200

    Hello.

At the beginning I wanted to install WinXP on a Satellite P200 but then I read many things on the internet and which might be more difficult than I first thought.

Now, I only get it back with the RecoveryCD came with the laptop.

It s my cousin's laptop. It of a little slow and has a lot of garbage on this matter, we decided to update the system.
    But the Toshiba Recovery says:

    + Cheking HDD1 +.
    + HDD1 found! +
    + BIOS 0 is disk 0 +.
    + BIOS 1 is disc +.
+ ERROR: GETHDD get physical disk HARD failed! +
Press any key to continue... +.

So I press a key, it says:

+ Waiting for ODD vacancies... +.
    + STRANGE ready F: drive. +
+ Check for support in the F: drive... +.
    + Continue... +.
+ Failed to initialize the raid class. +
    + No RAID - proceed normally... +.

    + X:\windows\system32>+

I'm not able to recover, but I have no idea why. I also Don t want to delete everything before making the recovery, cause I m afraid that nothing will work after that.
Notepad starts in Vista, but it is slow, as I have said before. Is there a chance the recovery work?

The CD is very good and has never used it before and it is also the original.

Thank you much for the help.

    EDIT:
I forgot to say, I followed the instructions on the CD case. I restarted the computer and you press F12, and then I chose the DVD drive and then start the CD. But I have not tried on the running system of Vista, because everywhere I read it wrong.

    Hello

I read your ad three times over but now I m a bit confused

If you want to return to factory settings, you must only start since the Toshiba recovery disc. Before the disc begins to install the new OS the whole HARD disk will be wiped so before recovery you can install everything, also Linux, Vista or something else because it will be deleted.

So please follow the instructions on the CD case you have posted. I put t know where read you that isn't true, but in fact the drive erases the HARD disk and installs a new OS.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Hello

I recently installed a new hard drive in my laptop Toshiba L300 the previous died.

I tried using the recovery disk and it ended fine,.
However when Vista loads to the top it complains that I do not have a genuine license and wil allows me not, log.

It allows only the possibility to buy a license.

Has anyone encountered this before? and can provide me with any assistance.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Dull strange thing. Did you really use the Toshiba Recovery disk?
I mean the image of Toshiba on the Toshiba Recovery disk is already enabled and you need t to enter the serial key to activate the Vista operating system.

You should also know that the serial key which is placed at the bottom of the device will not work with a genuine version of Microsoft Vista.
This is an OEM key that belongs to tot eh Vista preinstalled Toshiba!

The ' reader seems to be affected as I had itunes on it & its still there more HARD drive partition section.

Anyone know if I should try & use computer restore it works again with the original settings. a professional vista now written on the original vista?

Let me know if I need to provide more information.

    > Is - anyone know if I should try & use computer restore it works again with the original settings. a professional vista now written on the original vista?

I assume you mean on the restoration of windows own system that would set the OS to the previous time point
No, you will not be able to use the original settings.

If you want to use the laptop with the factory settings, you will need to use the Toshiba recovery disc!
The recovery disk would be to format the whole HARD drive and would all set to the same State as on the first day of purchase.

    Hello

Seems to me, the image of hard drive recovery is not already available on your hard disk. You did a recovery disk? Otherwise, you must buy from Toshiba, the details for the order are:

    > I just want to add the disk says starting windows 98, but said of the sticker on the Windows XP-based computer
It's nothing unusual, even if you get this message that Win XP has been on the recovery disk the message appears because load picture ghost Toshiba files.

But back to the reason why the recovery procedure fails.
To be honest I m not very well why the recovery procedure can be completed.
But I suppose there might be something wrong with the HARD drive or partitions on the HARD disk.

Try to boot from the CD of Microsoft Win XP and format the entire HARD drive.
Then try to boot from disk Toshiba again and the devil if you could install XP.

    Check it out

  • On Windows 7 Satellite L300 Vista drivers works

I'm guessing that the answer is 'yes', but all the Vista drivers work on Windows 7 (clean install) - for example I speak for the silent acoustic version 2.02.01 & 2.02.03 for Satelitte L300?

Not all do the job, but most of them ;)
I worked m not a L300 owner but tried to install some other Vista on Windows 7 and not all drivers
But I guess you will have to test it yourself.

  • Satellite L300 - Vista - Touchpad and USB mouse does not.

    Hello

Well well after hours of trying allsorts, I post here...

Been given the laptop for repair as the touchpad no longer. No problem "I thought", simply plug a mouse usb to help me get around and re - install the touchpad... what a joke.

On the right, the USB mouse is recognized as a hid device and work, according to the Manager of devices, but not when you move it... nothing...
The Touchpad is listed as a Synaptics ps/2 touchpad and signals a Code 10 in section mouse device as well as listed as a hid and fully functional usb mouse Manager.

    Right... I have...
Listed all devices, even the hidden nonpresent (devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices) and removed everything only account of any mouse, keyboards, etc...
uninstalled the software synaptics via the program Panel.
Restarted the laptop, and it starts with the touchpad is ranked again code 10 with the version of windows drivers.
Drivers up to date using two different files of Toshiba for the touchpad, still Code 10
Still, the USB mouse does not either.

Someone enlighten me please on a fix for this...

    Hello

Really strange what s my friend because normally a touchpad driver update should solve the problem.

In any case, have you ever tried to use the Toshiba Recovery disk? Maybe it s just a software problem and a few important Windows files are destroyed or don t work properly. Reinstall Windows using the recovery disk Toshiba takes only a few minutes and there are already all the drivers and tools integrated. With these parameters (factory settings), the touchpad should work properly, and if not the touchpad or the motherboard needs to be replaced maybe.

    Good bye
