  Your laptop is listed as coming with a 250 GB hard drive, but as there is no real difference in cost, you can install a 500 GB HARD drive for a bit more space - the player on the following link is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

  The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 51 of your & Maintenance Guide.

  Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

  My sleekbook will not start. It says smart disk failure hard disk 1 (301). I try to run check the HDD and it just says failed

  Looks like you need to replace the hard drive on your laptop.

  If the laptop is still under warranty, you can contact HP customer care and they need it support for you.

  Make sure you have ready operating system recovery discs if you try replacing the hard drive yourself you will need those to get Windows reinstalled on the system. If you have not done any before the hard drive crashed, you should be able to order them from HP. If you need assistance with this portion of it, let me know.

  I'm sorry to say this, but the 24-character error codes indicates a drive failure, which means that the drive is defective and must be replaced.

  You always have access to the data stored on the disk? If you do, then save as much information as possible and look for a replacement drive. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself – please let me know.

  I just got this new ultrabook, for two weeks in and just yesterday, I started getting lockups and BSODS.

  The problem you are having is very rare. Disc SSD is very sturdy, but like any other electronic component, can go wrong. You have the SSD enlarge as the only storage, or drive combo of the WSSD Accelerator, then on a mechanical hard drive? In the first case, it wouldn't be difficult to detach the acclerator reader in the console of the IRS then replace with a new one and then reconnect this one. If you have an SSD enlarge it will mean replacement.

• HDD SMART virus on my HP PC and lost my tab ACCESSORIES and restoration of the system.

  I have Vista pre-installed on my PC HP - has caught the virus in HDD SMART 2008, but it was removed. Now, I do my tab ACCESSORIES more and no longer have a point system - restore is just not there!  I get error code 08x004230F - something about a shadow?  Is it possible to reinstall Vista to factory settings, when I click on "all programs", I again have my windows ACCESSORIES tab?  I have home made recovery discs, but prefer not to do a clean install?  don't want nothing more loss.

  My computer is a Pavilion dv7 - 6123cl.  My operating system is windows 7.  I get an error message indicating intelligently check that my hard drive is about to fail.  When I use the tests diagnostic to check HP short and long check, it says that my drive is check.  It seems to be something in Windows 7 that is running the Smart check that produces the error message.  When I try to use the windows diagnostics program, it says failed.  When I try to any control using windows check, it says failed.

  Heck, Toshiba is one of the few that does not offer its own hard drive diagnostic tool.

  You can download, run CrystalDiskInfo, see what is the smart data shows, this is a portable version that does not install anything on your PC, just past in the folder you unzip it to.
