  1. what exactly happens when you try to open help and support? You receive an error message?
  2. what service pack is installed in the computer?
  3 did you changes to the computer before the show?
  To resolve this issue, start the Help and Support Center service and set it to automatic. Follow these steps:

  (a) click Start, run and type Services.msc.

  (b) double click on Help and Support

  (c) to set the startup type on automatic.

  (d) to Start the Service.

• Windows XP Help and Support does not work anymore!

  Help!  One day, when I clicked Start and then click Help and support , nothing's happened.  Is there anything, after that I clicked it that nothing came.  There was no error message nothing.  I tried to back up using windows Explorer, but could not get it to come.  I ran Microsoft Security Essentials scans (I use Security Essentials) and two online programs for viruses and dracovenii.  I don't remember anything that might perhaps explain this.

  I have the same problem exactly as described Flashimator don't except this: the problem occurs only when I am logged into the administrator account.  Support seems to work normally in my user account.

  I should add that my HP laptop has an OEM program which seems to be an overlay on the Windows Help.  It is also not available in the administrator account.

  (HP Pavilion dv9260us, Vista Ultimate x 64, Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2.00 GHz, 2 GB RAM)

  PS It is often more important to have help available when logged in as an administrator as I do only when I have to (as in the resolution of problems).

• Windows in Help and Support does not

  My Windows Help and Support function has stopped working.  When I try to launch Help and Support in the start menu (under Vista), I have the message

  "Not found in the help topic, this content under construction, we have couldn't recover the reqested topic."

  To anyone who has this same problem, I have found a solution!  I created a new user account, and when I registered under this new account, I was able to access my Windows Help and Support finally!  To create a new user account, follow these steps:

  1. click on the Start button and then click Control Panel.
  2. click on classic view in the left panel.
  3. double click on user accounts.
  4. click on Manager another account.
  Note: Click 'Continue' if the window (UCA) user account control prompts.
  5. click on "create a new account".
  6 type the account name and select an account type, the administrator or Standard user (I used administrator, do not know if it works with a Standard user account).  Then, click on create an account.
  7 restart the computer, and then sign in using the new user account.  Your help and Support Windows should now be available.

  PS Thank Sabrina Shen to Microsoft Support for this solution (* address email is removed from the privacy *).  She was helping me with another question (I was unable to access the Microsoft Update site), and I found that the solution worked for this problem, also.  Thank you, Sabrina!

  -To start - programs - accessories-tools system-system restore to activate this service:-press the Windows and R-Type "service.msc" without the quotes. -Scroll down the list until you find the service. -Click on the service and select start service on the left side of the window. Do not modify other services while, in this window.

  In a command SET, if the string to the right of the = sign contains spaces, then it must be in quotes: in the case otherwise, only the first group of characters, white space will be affected.
  For example:

  define p_day_sh = &data_sh
  

  If & data_sh has this value:

  11-06-2009 06:25:09
  

  then the DEFINE command is

  define p_day_sh = 11-06-2009 06:25:09
  

  and & p_day_sh Gets the value of the part to the workspace:

  11-06-2009
  

  Either eliminate the space, Alex has proposed, or place the chain on the right side of the sign = in double - quote:

  define p_day_sh = "&data_sh"
  

  The double quotes will not change the meaning if & data_sh contains no white space.
