Help battery Equium L20

Hello.. I recently bought the Equium L20, told me it can provide the last 3 hours running on battery, but mine seems to only last 45 minutes, told me there are food options I need to change but I don't know how... Please can someone give me very specific instructions on how to make it last for 3 hours.

Hi Michael

Well, it's not easy to say the exactly battery working time, because it depends on the use of the laptop. As far as I know that it s about 3 hours. But if you play games or watch DVDs on the life expectancy of the battery unit is shorter than if you use the laptop with office applications.
In addition, you should check the s of this laptop manual. You will find information may how to manage the battery. For example, it is important to remove the battery from the device if the power adapter is plugged.

Good bye

    Hello

I want to improve memory my equium l20-264 to the maximum which is about 2G I think and I was wondering what parts of memory I need to do this? He currently heads the 256 MB standard, but I'm not sure if I need to replace that with a higher memory 256 AND get a new one to compensate for the amount or if I can buy a souvenir that will do the job. Is also editing them something that I can do myself or should I consider somewhere for them to do?

The other thing is the battery life is only 1.5hours and hoped to obtain a superior capacity for her battery? Anyone know if I can do it and so what battery need and how long it lasts?

    Thanks in advance

    GATS

    Hi the GATS.

Your laptop has two banks of memory (usually accessible by a small flap on the bottom of the unit). He must have a slot in use at present with a 256 MB card installed. New RAM modules are available in sizes of 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB so to get all of the 2 GB, you will need to replace the 256 MB card existing with 2 X 1 GB modules.

The site of Toshiba UK lists all the options that are available for your model (!), but I found the options available on the following web - site: -.

    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=20877&ft=m&St=3

I don't think it will be possible to install an additional capacity for your laptop battery and 1.5 hours you CITIES seem just to me for this model.

  • Equium L20 - 192 battery/compatibility UK to the us.

Hello, apologies, having problems to post a new message.

I have an Equium L20-197, the battery does not work and it runs directly on the sector.

Can anyone help the following applications:

I'll be able to buy a spare battery?

I intend to go to the United States, I would be able to buy a power cable that would work in the USA?
I tried to use UK USA adapters for Chargers of phones etc, but they never seem to work.

I currently use a dongle, I would be able to use a dongle using a provider of the United States?

    Thank you very much

    Paula

    > I'll be able to buy a spare battery?
Why not. Remove the battery, check the number of PA it and use it for the new order of the stack.
I'm sure Googling around you'll find an online store in your country where you can order a new one.

I think you can use batteries PA3420U-1BAS and PA3420U-1BRS with your Equium L20.

As far as I know you don t need new adapter sector but UK adapter USA.

    Hello

First he must know that the life expectancy of the batteries depends on the use of the laptop.
Secondly I know this laptop came with a standard battery of 2000mAh.

On the Toshiba page under Option & accessories I found a compatible battery pack 8, 4300mAh reference: PA3420U-1BRS

This battery should support a longer lifecycle like the 2000mAh battery.

I have an Equium L20 what battery does not charge. The Windows Powermanagment says he is in charge, but the percentage increases ever, I tried different batteries with the same symptom as a result.

    Hello

I also believe that it is hardware problem. There must be some problem with electronic power electronic board. Particular component? This component is placed on the motherboard, and I don't really know if you can exchange it separately.

  • Equium l20-198: what battery model is compatible

Having bought just an Equium l20 - 198 I'm horrified to find that the battery (2000 mAh) dies in less than an hour. It's quite desperate and it is almost impossible to get a decent job done use away from a power outlet.

I have yet to find a 'battery' web site which mentions the Equium: Satellite, Tecra, Portege, Qosmio, Dynabook, but never Equium - why? I can't find any information on what other reasonable quality (> 4000 mAh) battery is compatible with this model.

    Any suggestions please?

    Hi Rockrat

As you know that each laptop producer a lot of different series laptop. This is due to a different use. Portege and Tecra notebooks are the industry and these books are mostly bought by business people who need these notebooks to traverse. For these business line books, you will find different batteries. Laptops satellite and satellite are cheaper models for everyday use, and there is no need for batteries of large capacity.

Other models like the Qosmio is multimedia unit and it is mainly used to connected devices home TV and other entertainment and it must be connected to the power adapter because of high energy consumption. I hope you understand this and in my opinion, this is the reason why you aren't able to find the battery high capacity for your computer satellite phone.

    Hello Jan

As far as I know for this device there is no available different batteries. Live batteries are available only for some Portege (business class units) units.

As you know the life of the battery depends on the use. Maximum duration of use power management tool and set the CPU usage, method and other things at much lower level of cooling. On this way, you can save energy and use it a little longer.

  • Equium L20-198: error 0271 check date and time settings.

My apologies if this appears twice, I tried to change and I somehow lost my thread.

    Hi people.

For awhile, I had problems with my laptop. Toshiba Equium L20-198.

If I unplug the network at any time, when I re - connect and start the computer, I get two warnings.

Date and time settings error 0271 check.

WARNING 0251 system cmos checksum bad default configuration used

About 6 months ago we replaced the CMOS battery, while we struggled to find a brand new ML1220EI2 Nickel hydrogen 3V 14mAh, we had to go for a "used" quality one.

The problem persists and I now also get this message every time that I reboot rather put into hibernation.

Yes, the computer is a little more than 5 years and hit a little, but it is absolutely perfect in all other ways - with one exception - the main battery is completely dead. If the network becomes disconnected, I make you stop in about 3 minutes. :(

Is it possible that the CMOS battery charge the main battery and this is my problem? I did a little research on Google and found a similar question and an answer on a Dell forum where someone has stated that the CMOS takes his food on the main battery. Would this be the case with my Equium and could buy a new battery solve my problem? I obvioiusly don't want to spend £30 + for it will not help, any response would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    > Is it possible that the CMOS battery charge the main battery and this is my problem?
Well, the CMOS battery can be charged with AC adapter but the laptop must be turned on for about 18 to 20 hours.
It s not I known if battery CMOS takes the power of the main battery
Usually the CMOS battery should always charge in work and when the laptop is plugged in
So, theoretically the main battery has no influence on the CMOS battery.

I think it might be a mobo problem, I think this could be a reason for it

By the way; in most cases the CMOS battery is not removable... so I wonder how did you repalce this CMOS battery...

  • Equium L20-197 no longer works

Can I invite you for a little help on this one.

I received an Equium L20-197 that no longer works. Not having is not the chance to see never work I'm not sure on a number of things.

It is totally dead, with the power supply connected there is no sign of life, no power, light nothing.

I know there are a lot of things it could be.

This is should it lights up while there is no battery connected, only the power supply plugged in?

If she will be so at least I can pass a battery problem, yes the battery is perhaps still defective, but this would mean that the motherboard is probably us. If she must have a battery equipped, even a plate, then it could be the battery.

Just try to work through step-by-step.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi mate,

hehe, looks like a technician is here. :) It s a very good idea to do it step by step because every good techno acts like you. So I do, and it has helped me several times.

Regarding your question: the battery must not be connected to start the machine, so if the machine start-up even won´t just with connected AC then you can be sure that there is a serious hardware problem.

In this case, you can remove all (disk, CDROM, etc.) and try again. You can also share the adapter of the ca and the RAM. Thus, if the won´t still machine starts, then contact an ASP (Authorized Service Partner) and ask for a review of health/repair of equipment. It would be the last resort.

Here´s a link to find the nearest ASP in your country:

  • How to install more Ram on Equium L20 - 197

    Hello world

I am new to this site and if possible need help.
My partner has a Toshiba Equium L20-197 Notebook, she was constantly telling me that it's very slow and when I watched it only had 128 MB or Ram, she is running that Windows XP so he was advised to get 1 GB of Ram, which should help to speed up.

She bought the DDR2 Ram of Mrmemory.co.uk, I have never installed new Ram on a desktop computer that was easily accessible, now she wants to move the extra Ram into his laptop. Please can someone advise me what to do.

I heard that the necessary slot can be difficult to locate on laptops and I was wondering if someone can point to me where the housing is I don't really want to be dismantle all this in fear of breaking. Is it easy to access and install?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To change the RAM on this model that s easy enough.

Shut down the laptop, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Turn the phone around, you can see on the side of buttom. Remove the cache memory that is fixed by 2 screws. Remove the screws and cover, then you can see the RAM slots.

The cover of the memory is in the middle.

  • Equium L20-264 - CPU upgrade

    Hello world

I have Toshiba Equium L20-264 and I want to move into gear
    Can someone help me please?

I had already upgraded to 2 GB of Ram, but my CPU is still 1.4 GHz.

Please guide me what to do and if it supports several Ghz processor, which will be the best place to buy.

    Thank you.

I assume that you have not read all the posts here in the forum about upgrading the CPU s for laptop?
    Did you?

    Some facts first:
Update CPU is very delicate and depends on the chipset and BIOS support.
In case one of the parties (chipset or bios) would not support new CPU, the will to power laptop on.

Second: the laptop seems to be equipped with an Intel Celeron - M CPU, and I suppose the other Intel Celeron-M CPU be compatible:
    Intel Celeron M 370 (1.5 Ghz)
    Intel Celeron M 380 (1.6 Ghz)

Everything supports the FSB 400 Mhz

But guess what? Even if you add the new processor at 1.6 Ghz, the performance gain will be not noticeable. So in my eyes, CPU upgrade for this old book is useless. It won't add any performance benefits.

  • Equium L20 - cannot start Windows mode of

    Hello

I was wondering if you can help me. I have an Equium L20 - 197, windows xp home edition. (Also technically challenged!  :)) When I booted my computer laptop first time today, I received this message-

«We are sorry for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully upward...» »
and he gave me a few methods of commissioning:
    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
Last good Configuration know (your most recent settings that worked)
    and
    Start Windows normally

I was able to start press start windows normally and start the computer very well. I turned off the computer OK, then it was restarted later without any problems. I then restored in a frame earlier that the system did not work well. Restore seemed to go OK but then my computer froze, then were shut down by pressing the power button.

However, the laptop will now not reboot. Just as I think it starts it goes to the error message and none of the options will work to start the computer, and I am now stuck on an endless loop of the above message.

I don't want to use the product recovery disc, that he will wipe away all of the hard drive and I have the info I need access to! I have a recovery CD product for a Fujitsu which has windows xp edition family sp 1 on him. Is it possible that I can use this to start my computer or is there something else I need to do? I thought after pressing F12 and if it is possible to use the other drive Fujitsu to launch boot my system but do not know if this is possible. I don't have an xp disk from toshiba installation disc, when I bought the computer. :(

I learned by a guy from the computer to the phone that sounds as if I need a new hard drive but would like to explore other methods before you go this route.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me. Susi

    Hi SusiB_1,

Unfortunately, if you can start Windows t in any of these modes you have only one option and that is reinstall Windows. I mean you should do? You can do anything in this case

As you wrote wipes disc, the whole HARD disc Toshiba Recovery and that's right because it of needed to recover to factory settings. But normally you should have a backup of your data or not?
If this isn't the case, you can access the data, if you put the HARD drive into an external HARD drive enclosure. From another computer, you now have access to these data.

By the way: for Toshiba recovery disc you n t need a product key. Everything is already done in the recovery image and no activation is necessary. :)

  • Equium L20-197 to control the Volume

    HI peeps,

I have a problem with my laptop Equium L20-197 of comrades. When it boots into windows, you get a warning message indicating the canoe access volume control. There is no volume control icon in the taskbar, and I also noticed that in the properties of the sound device and Audio, it says that there is no audio device.

In the Manager devices, section controller audio, video, and game audio codec, audio drivers, legacy video capture, devices, legacy multimedia control devices and video codecs all say they work properly.

I tried the fix windows help for no volume control which is to extend the control files of the disk volume to your Windows Setup incase windows, the file is damaged or missing.
I tried a fresh install of windows.
None of these helped with the same warning as the result every time.

It is true that the audio chip on the motherboard is dead or is there maybe another solution to the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in adavance peeps :)

You said you tried to reinstall fresh Windows operating system.
So can ask now; have you used the Toshiba Recovery CD or did you use the original MS XP CD?

I would have preferred using the Toshiba Recovery CD because all the necessary drivers, tools, and utilities are already preinstalled
You can use the recovery CD to reset the phone to factory settings!
The configuration should work without any serious problem!

In my opinion, it's an easy way to set up the laptop. The whole process would take about 10 minutes.
