Help bicoeur T500

My son has a dual T500 core he buys used. Hard drive went just high belly or at least, I think that's the problem. The error message that stressed. So here's my question. It came with Windows Xp installed on it. I have to get a new hard drive and get a new operating system that I have all the disks to reinstall XP. So if I stick with XP or can this system supports something more?

If the dual core could run W7

Yes.

Either way, the SSD drives and 4 GB of RAM are both very cheap these days. Replace the HARD drive with an SSD, upgrade of RAM 2 x 4 GB (up to a maximum of 8 GB), install Win7 and this system will provide many years of service.

  • T500: Overclocking Radeon HD 3650 258 MB help please

II uses ATI Radeon 3650 with 258 MB ddr3 and 600 base clock and 700 mhz memory clock speed (as described in the Catalyst Control Center). Using Vista Business x 64 w / 4 GB of ram

I want to play Last Remnant, since I don't know what would be my GPU temp if overclock, which would be a security settings overclocking to try? Suppose I use AtiTool 2. 7. b (using a core 2 duo of 25 watt cpu btw)

Elevation of someone was: ATI HD3650 512 MB GDDR3 - overclocked to 800/900 to 1.4V (However the 3650 has 512 MB of ram)

The small amount that you can overclock won't be enough in your case to make a notable difference in game.  Although it is possible, the 3650 puts some heavy heat and fan cooling/heatpipe can handle just to stock speed at full load.  ThinkPad is designed for "business" and the 3650 is a pretty decent video for a laptop card, you won't run Crysis with all the details with high resolution.  Be realistic and he's working up to something the average order of 12 x 8 instead of 16 x 10 with the graphics settings.  I know that's not what you want but its what you do for the game on your Thinkpad.

  • Need help with my sound on T500

I had problems of her before, but one or two reboots that would resolve. Now, nothing, I noticed that Microsoft UAA is missing from Device Manager and my sound card drivers. When I tried to reinstall the sound drivers got the message not found MEDIA device for this driver. I use XP SP3 and made a little reading on how to install the UAA for it but nothing has worked so far. I can't reinstall my XP (I have my reasons for it) then any other way to solve this problem? By the way, I have a second laptop exactly the same so I can copy some of the files or drivers or anything else she?

I know that there are a lot more details that I can share but right now cannot think at all (to much beer in me) so if anyone still has a little trick, how can I fix that I'll post more tomorrow.

Yes, I read some of these tips on how to install it on xpsp3 but this kind of tampering. Ah, computers, they are so nice. Anyway my problem is solved, it works very well for now

  • T500 completely scrambled discrete graphics

My T500 has developed a serious problem with the video of the graphic interface is completely corrupt.

I tried on the features of dual screen with my L170p monitor. As I used it, I noticed a video corruption, particularly on applications slipped between the views. Finally, I decided that it is not really me anyway, and so I minimized the 2 display resolution (800 x 600) and disabled the option "extend my Windows desktop on this monitor.

However, corruption has continued and I decided to restart it. However, before I could, the machine gave a BSOD that was mostly unreadable. Reboot, the Windows XP splash screen was also altered; I tried to use the Fn + F7 to switch to the external display, but it was no better. Try to connect fingerprint BSOD machine'ed - this text is unreadable, but I saw the word '' parity '' in there. From this point, it went from bad to worse. Connect the external display and try to get the BIOS with the F1 to the ignition, I could see a text there, but it is mostly illegible and overlapping with lots of video noise and the vertical bars cyan, flashing boxes of all colors, etc..

Somehow, I managed to do enough to get the BIOS to switch to the built-in graphics card and was able to boot Windows and install the Intel graphics driver, so the machine is little functional again.

However, go back to "discrete graphics" gives the same problem: no video on the internal LCD screen, only scrambled on the external monitor. If I allow Windows to start with discrete graphics, TI BSOD with an unreadable screen for the most part, but it seems to speak to shut down Windows to avoid damaging the material and the word 'conflict' is here, too.

Configuration: T500 type 2081-CTO, 4 GB RAM, Windows XP SP 3, fully updated with drivers

Display of the BIOS settings (all other settings are default):

    Main default video device: internal

    Initializing display: Thinkpad LCD

: Initially graphics discrete graphics, now integrated Graphics

OS detection for switchable graphics: disabled

I wondered if the bi-ecrans mapped configuration somehow ATI video RAM so that it comes into conflict with the top of that 4 GB of RAM. Remove a 2 GB DIMM has not helped. However, once the machine has restarted successfully with Windows, the ATI driver has not been loaded (as the discreet graphics card has been disabled) and so perhaps all that has been mapped has not been not mapped? However, I expect memory graphic mapping be reset to zero at the start anyway. And since the video is so completely that screwed up at startup, it is resembling more a permanent hardware failure, in which case the machine back under warranty.

Are there any other suggestions on how to proceed?

    Best regards

The machine came back last Friday - the technology has replaced the video chip, as well as the keyboard, for some reason any. He had also installed Vista x 64; I tried to learn to love it, I really have, but after a few days, I have decided that the benefits outweigh the problems of compatibility, I got with my (admittedly old) version of Lotus Notes. So I reinstalled XP Pro and everything is now back to normal - although I'm not willing to try the external chart again on this machine.

  • T500 Hybrid Graphics problem - how to blindly with Intel card

I bought a Lenovo T500 with a faulty ATI card that worked perfectly with disabled switchable graphics. Unfortunately for some stupid reason, I decided to test the ATI card and enabled feature switchable graphics in the BIOS. Now, the laptop starts with a black screen (internal / external) and I can't go to the option to disable the feature of the hybrid. Is there a way to re - put the BiOS settings so that I can use the graphics card intel?

I tried to remove the bios battery, hoping it would issue zero CMOS but this resulted in a series of additional beeps and not much.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Upgrade CPU on T500

    Hello!

I have a T500 with an Intel Core Duo clocked P8600 (2.4 GHz). I called Lenovo support in my country, and they told me it's 'impossible' to upgrade the single processor. But judging from a couple of discussions here, it looks like it can be done anyway?

T9900 (3.06 GHz) seems to be the highest compatible, although most of the T500 product pages list only until T9800 (2.93 GHz), I don't know why.

So, is it true that it is possible to get a T9900 and replace on my current motherboard?

I'll be able to replace the CPU myself? (I have experience in computer parts replacement, but never a processor on a laptop before).

    Thanks for any help.

On my T400, I upgraded to a P8400 to a T9600 without problem. Just do not forget to clean and add the new thermal paste for the CPU, not to reuse things that are out there. In regards to a T9900 will work... I do not know. I'd go with the faster than lenovo comes with just to be sure. You also wonder if this extra 100 mhz or 200 mhz is even worth. The T9600 2.8 GHz and can be found for much cheaper.

    Good luck!

  • T500 operating at maximum speed

My t500 runs at full speed or a little more at 2926 mhz acording to AIDA64 while on battery. This makes the laptop run hot and battery life. I have reset the BIOs to maximize independence and then set as default. I even removed the battery cmos for a few hours and it will still not reverse this speed. The time sometimes run up to 85 degrees C. Now the Task Manager shows 0 to 15% with the use of less than 2 GB memory usage. It should be run at approximately 800 mhz on battery. That's what my wife T500 then runs only on battery. They both have 9 batteries.

I see two options to try:

    1. check your BIOS version

    2 - power Manager installed?

You can do the installation and execution Lenovo System Update

    I hope this helps!

  • Update BIOS T500 - Linux

I have three T500s of various models and I'm looking to get a couple of the BIOS a bit more up-to-date. But all downloads refer 'Windows' that one OS or another.

How all this relates to Linux?

I guess I should choose the related options of CD bootable and upgrading in this way. Right?

Hi tomliotta! You are right, you can use the bootable CD BIOS update download. It contains an .iso image that you burn it to a CD, then start with that CD to perform the BIOS update. It is independent of the operating system, i.e. does not care if you have Linux, Windows... I hope this helps!

  • T500 LED backlight - no, Yes - when?

If the LED backlight comes the T500 in the next few weeks/months or not?
I've heard mixed answers from different people who have spoken on the phone to the people of lenovo. Some say that no light, some say that the LED will be available later as it is out of stock...

    Does anyone know for sure?

    People,

T500 LED option will officially announce on 9/23. It may take a little extra time for models with this Panel to be available for purchase. W500 doesn't have a LED backlight option. Hope this helps
