  Hello retabox, welcome.

  It would seem that the installer is corrupted. I recommend trying to use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to force - to remove the application. Try this:
  1. go to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
  2. click on the download link in the middle of the page
  3. save the file to your desktop or just click Run the installation of the application
  4. once the application is installed, open the utility. The utility must be located in the menu START under (START > programs > Windows Installer...)
  5. in the utility, find the application you want to uninstall, and then click the button 'delete' below
  6. once removed, restart the computer and see if you can reinstall the application

  I am trying to install the new version of the player.  Downloads the file, I can run it, but then the Adobe Download Manager appears in a new window but remains empty.  Nothing else happens.  The Task Manager is telling me that she is still ongoing.  There is no adobe doesn't instal newspapers etc.

  uninstall all other versions of reader that you have installed and if you have a version of acrobat installed, you probably do not want to install the player or you should uninstall acrobat.

• I can't get the XP updates. I need SP3 but need the hotfix for AMD chip which I can't until I have install SP2.

  After a lot of blue screens, I did a fresh install of xp family. I installed avast anti virus and then made sure that windows update was. Then I tried in vain to download SP2, the fix for SP3 and AMD. Without these, it seems, I can't get the needed updates.

  I'd appreciate if someone could give me English simple, easy to understand solutions or, links to click on who would control the repairs or whatever it is that is missing.

  This AMD patch you were talking in your original question? I'm not aware of all the other fixes AMD (but this does not mean there is one, are not my knowledge is not encyclopedic!).

  Windows Update no longer works unless you have installed SP3. SP3 should be able to be installed from the link I provided above, but I would like to uninstall IE8 first and then re-install later.

  But I wouldn't do anything else until we have at the bottom of the AMD patch that you think you have need.

  I am trying to install rockbox on my brand new Clip + - the problem of "Refreshing your media" bit me once I copied 15 GB of my old MP3 player on a new uSDHC card.

  However, no matter what I do, I can't get the player to update its firmware.

  I used rockbox Setup both a manual installation. The fw file is in the root directory of the element, which is in MSC mode, but as soon as I log out, instead of the promised update firware followed by a stop, I simply get "Refreshing your media" and then the player stays on indefinitely.

  I think randomly would be that you are trying to Flash the incorrect firmware for your device. Each device will only accept firmware designed for it, in order to avoid destroying the player by the incompatible firmware flashing.

  What is the version number on your player and the name + the version of the firmware file you are trying to flash?
