  Try a Hard Reset as follows.

  Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the AC adapter and see if the laptop boots.

  If the above doesn't help, see if you can match the sequence of "Flashes" to those shown in the table below.

  Hi, I tried to install SP2 for Vista pack recently without success. Basically, I'll install and my computer stops then starts up and when installing it will cancel and say changes in recovery does not summers.

  When my computer load back to the top of the screen and the icons have become much bigger and my computer seems to be missing a lot of pilots.

  I tried to disable all the startup items.

  I tried to uninstall my Norton 360 program.

  Stand-alone setup I tried and it also does the same thing.

  Ran sfc/scannow, and it has detected an error and fixed it but no difference.

  I tried to run the system preparation tool, but loading upward it checks updates and asks me to install an update first. When you try to install the update, it happens at the same point every time and just hangs. If I wait long enough he will say: impossible to install and it is that I get.

  When I check history the next error code update to SP2 install is e000023f. I tried to check whether that SP2 was installed in part. When I go in the installed updates it have SP2 listed, but when I right click on it gives me no option to delete so I guess it was not installed. By going to computer/properties also confirmed that it is still SP1.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated that I like this update because my computer doesn't seem to be good at all currently underway. It takes more than an hour now to intall minor updates.

  If N360 is no longer installed (and before you reinstall it):

  1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

  2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

  3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

  IMPORTANT! Should not connect your computer to the internet or any network without a fully functional anti-virus application & completely updated installed and an active firewall!

  Your misguided (IMHO) use of System Mechanic may have caused your problems. If you think your registry needs to "clean up" or "repaired" and need more convincing that it doe NOT, read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions.

  2 when was the last time it was working fine?

• Activation problem with hard disk containing Vista deleted from a computer dead and installed in a work computer.

  Problem: HP laptop with Vista installed suffers an untimely death. The installed hard drive with Vista is still OK. Hard disk has been removed from the HP laptop and then installed in an old Dell laptop. Windows Vista is complaining that Vista is not valid and must be activated. I get the activation from valid product key and the activation utility responds with an error 0xC004E003 code and will not activate. Microsoft does not support chat or e-mail for Vista and I can not even a phone number to talk to a human being. I think I should be able to remove Vista from a computer and run it on another without Microsoft having a problem with it. What should I do for this? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

• CD/hp drive lacks no story shop/long help/computer

  OK, here's the long version at all. I bought a HP Dv6815nr. Cd drive disappeared. I think it is after some update, but has no significance my hard drive went bad and hp made and repaired. She is as if all new and everything worked fine again. I know that they have not replaced the cd player being the only thing that the maintenance book says that they have replaced the hard drive. After a while my cd drive no longer works, after some update I think because I was playing command and conquer every week / every two weeks with my online friends. Well after it has stopped working, I tried the fix for windows only and it did not work.  I have scoured the internet for fixes and found nothing that works or applies. I know it is not the disk that I took my ex wives cd(optical drive) using a laptop (same model car as is in my TS-L632 (b) found on several laptops hp) and it did not work in my laptop but doesn't and still has in his laptop. Well, to add to all of this mess, something's happened on my hard drive and windows load not more, being above my skills to manage, I took it to a repairer (expiration of the warranty of HP, still chatted for help and they were not, and so on for the computers in America) and they had to wipe my hard drive and reload windows on it (which was a shame because I lost my secure partition for windows to the factory plug because HP restore my CD player would not work) so when they return it to me and to my disappointment cd player doesn't work do not, it does not show in my computer or Device Manager but it is in the registry or I think that's it. And to top it all off I can not use any automatic assumption of hp or programs scan (as Manager of health) than all my info from hp (model series, etc.) has been erased and system under system information, it says my laptop is a DELL, which im guessing that they must have used an on my laptop dell restore disc... Im not happy but did not take it back to them, I want to avoid it if possible as they do not seem to know what they are doing or they cheat many people. So in its current form, I'm lost, how do I start to fix this problem? I tried to contact microsoft, but he disliked the product ID of my system, he kept saying there was a problem with the product id you entered, so the only option was to pay and as the father of 3 and 1 ex I don't have money to pay for help like this (if I did (, I would have just had a new laptop) if the drive worked or may work again, I can get at hp recovery disks and have my good old laptop back. ANY HELP APPRECIATED. quick rundown of the specs, HP DV6815nr, windows vista Home premium 32-bit SP2 (so far on the updates based on the update of windows), 3 GB of ram, amd 64 x 2 2.0 ghz tl.
