Help! Installation of HP Vista recovery disks to a new HARD disk

I found the same problem in this forum and several others online, but have not been able to find one with a solution!

I have a HP Pavilion Notebook DV6633US

It has a 120 GB of HDD with Vista Home Premium

I created recovery discs when I got to the computer

Last week, crashed HARD drive.

I bought a new Western Digital HARD drive (the original in the laptop was a Seagate)

The Western Digital graphic shows the compatibility with my laptop specifically

I upgraded from the 120 GB to 160 GB

I tried to run my recovery disks

It installs the necessary boot files, runs the Windows progress bar and then goes to a blue screen with an operable mouse cursor and an error message that says:

"This PC is not supported by the system recovery discs. You can continue to recover this system with these discs. »

The laptop is out of warranty at this stage.

I contacted Technical Support HP in 2 ways and got 2 different answers. I don't know who to believe and do not want to take the time or spend the money on ordering the wrong solution.

Technology through the Online Chat support says:

My recovery disks have "gone wrong", and I need to order new HP.

They insist that will not solve the problem, but I have read in several places online is not the solution

Technology through support email wrote:

If I buy a hard drive through a third party, no HP recovery disk will work and I need to buy a new installation of Vista (obviously expensive);

Just bought HP hard drive works, it comes with its own recovery disks. The recovery disks have a tatoo/signature for specific hardware.

The HARD drive I bought was reduced to $40. The HP HARD drive is $ 130.

A ride more. If the HARD drive has a tatoo/signature on my initial, recovery discs - it true for other components?

While it was still under warranty, I got a CD/DVD defective drive replaced, also a defective mother replaced, and I added the additional RAM.

I saw several other posts with the same question and a number or suggestions are displayed, but it seems that they never send once they have found a solution that worked.

Before I bite the bullet and spend the $130 on their HARD drive I want to be sure that will work, and if there is a way I can make it work with the HARD drive that I have bought, I would of course like to do.

Here, any help would be greatly appreciated!

SOLVED!

The recovery discs HP factory arrived today and they work... It installs my original factory image as I type!

It's been almost 2 weeks to get this figured out, but it does not work... so if my omitted self-created recovery discs can be used on a new HARD drive, the factory recovery disks succeeded.

I just wanted you to know everything for the next person can find the solution that actually worked.

Thanks for the help and comments!

I'm tring to get using vista recovery disks, after disc 2 is done, it comes out saying there is lack of disk space for the temporary files needed for the operation. It said that windows was able to start and tells me to insert the windows installation disc, choose the language and click on repair computer. • Where to get the Windows vista recovery disk to do a clean install?

Where can I get the windows vista for any new installation disk. Both my recovery disk & HDD crashed. I had windows vista preinstalled.

    Hello

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Portege R600 Vista Recovery disk

    Hello world

Is a possible way to recovery vista recover disk from toshiba?

I have the recovery disk xp that comes with my toshiba r600, but is there a way to get the toshiba vista recovery disk? Download? or something?
I didn't create drive recovery with vista... so is he lost? I do not really need vista OS but just in case, is it possible to recover it?

    Thank you.

    Hello

What OS came preinstalled on your Portege R600?
    Was it Vista?

If so there should be an option that allows you to create a recovery disk.
You can use the preinstalled called creator Toshiba Recovery disk which is able to create the recovery disk.

But if you have already formatted the HARD drive then you will not be able to create this disc of recovery :(

In this case, you should check this page:

  • Vista recovery disks do not display TOSHIBA HDD Recovery option

Back to school for 4 children with laptops is a pain, he seems to be constantly before wipe them and their establishment again.

Any ideas why the Vista recovery disks do not display TOSHIBA HARD drive recovery option?

I made a USB key and copied all the files from a backup of the Recvery drive to it. The USB displays the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery option but calls for the disks and will not run the recovery of the USB itself. It's annoying, but at least I can still use it to recover the machine.

    I would like to be

    the problem with discs

    or

get the USB key to retrieve by using its own files instead of asking for the disks. Vista was not created with the option to recover from USB, so maybe I can't.

HARD drive recovery option appears not in the advanced boot menu if something has been changed or modified on the HARD disk and the flag was removed.
For example, this may be the case if the partition has been changed, modified or if HARD drive recovery files or folder has been changed, moved, or deleted.

  • Neosmart of VISTA recovery disk

Tried to use it to start Vista to allow me to join the office so I can either do a system restore or format and reinstall Vista. Have Acer Aspire M1100 which is formatted by the departure of John. Booted from the recovery disk, choose repair your computer, it searches the operating system and finds Vista. He then seek out problems and then asks if you want to do a system restore, choose YES, but then it goes back to the repair attempt going on and so on and gets me nowhere. Please can someone tell me where I'm wrong if I understand correctly that this disc has obtained a large number of people out of trouble. Thank you

NeoSmart is NOT a relocation of the disc.

It will attempt to repair your boot files of the system, not the files of your operating system.

If it will not get Vista running, you need to reinstall Vista.

    http://www.Acer.com/worldwide/support/index.htm

Contact Acer on how to use the recovery Partition, or ask them to send you a set of Vista recovery disk.
You can try pressing Alt + F10 to see if that will start the process of recovery from the factory.

  • Windows vista recovery disk.

My hard drive crashed recently. Fearing the worst, I bought a new drive hard by I am unable to find my recovery disk. I always have my validation code. I got my computer to reboot, but I don't want to take any chances with the old hard drive. Is it possible that I can do a windows recovery disc, so I can run on the new drive before he decides to hang again. Also, I contacted the manufacturer and they said they no longer offer the vista recovery disks.

Standard support vof vista is complete.  You may be able to get a dvd of Vista but if vista came pre-installed you will need to find an OEM copy.  I doubt you'll find one.  Might want to try eBay (but make sure that it is legitimate)

If you can't find one that maybe this is the time for you to upgrade to win 7.

  • Satellite A300: Vista 64 bits after the new installation by using the recovery disk

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 A300 / M00 and when I got it, it had Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. But after awhile, I started to have problems so I decided to reinstall Vista on my laptop. After crossing with the product recovery media, my system become so 64-bit.

Was not my system suppose to have 32-bit when it was originally with her?
If no, then how can I install 32 bit once more on my laptop like 64-bit gives me problems with the installation of some of my programs.

If I need to buy a copy of Vista 32 Bit, where can I find the drivers for my system, because the product recovery media has all the drivers on this subject.

    Thank you for your time.

Hmm. Your ad is a little confusing.

Why would you say that Toshiba Recovery disk contains a version of Vista 64-bit?
    How did you check that?
From my experience, the Toshiba recovery disc still contains the preinstalled operating system.

Also as much as I know the new notebook from Toshiba are not delivered with the recovery disk, but with a HARD drive recovery option.
This option allows you to reinstall the OS from the second partition of HARD drive recovery.
Alternatively, you can use the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator software to create the own recovery DVDs! And this recovery disk contains the same preinstalled OS!

    Hello.

I have a Satellite A100-068 where Windows broke down. When I turn it on it says configuration update 3 of 3. After awhile it will restart and returns with the same message. It is not possible to boot into safe mode. (Same problem). I searched the net for a concludes but only found that I have to reinstall windows (Vista Home premeum). My problem is that I Don t equipped of a Medea. The PC came with windows pre-installed, and there was no partition of medea or recovery disk recovery.

Is it possible to buy DVDs that will work with the OEM installation (in Danish) license, or I can get a toshiba restore disk or?

    Please help me out here.

    Hey,.

Normally, you need to create this recovery disc yourself using pre-installed recovery disc creator, but I think that now it s too late because Windows doesn't start anymore.

But you can order the CD here:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

If you can t order it, ask an authorized service provider. Alternative use a normal disc of Microsoft and the drivers of Toshiba page.

  • Need Vista recovery disk

I have an old HP Pavilion a1000. I want to wipe the drive and make a donation to the computer. I have the product key of Windows Vista on the machine, but I need the recoverty Vista disk.

    Thanks for any help!

The "HP Pavilion a1000" model name you provided is not a real model but rather a series of models. When you request assistance please provide the number of name and/or product of comprehensive model of the computer in question.

Honestly, you can just use the edition CD of Darik Boot-n-Nuke to erase the hard drive of your data and give it to charity, as is. Most charities have the option to install an operating system or "sell" boneless. HP recovery discs most likely won't be available at HP for your model, but you may be able to get them through third-party provider computer surgeons. You can also try the method below (even if is not a recovery Disc... it should install Windows Vista on the computer), Paul Tikkanen has stated in that thread Danah entited "Windows Vista recovery disc".

"If you can still read all 25 characters of the Vista product key on the COA Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC, you can make your own Vista installation disc that should at least get an operating system reinstalled on your PC.

You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

Do not take into account the part of the text in the first screen shot about "extract the files in the folder of Vista."

The files were extracted already in this folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screenshot.

The other thing I noticed is on the 4th page, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in me, and then the other codes already filled in.

When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

I selected no, make the ISO file.

It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT PC desktop computer, they worked perfectly.

When you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-Microsoft-Windows-v...

After you install Vista successfully, you can then install the drivers for your PC and driver page support.

  • Satellite Pro A120-185 - need Vista Recovery disk - never get a

Hello, my trusty Satellite Pro C: is completely filled, and so I would wipe and do complete a new installation of Windows.

It came with VISTA on it when I bought it several years ago.

It's a Satellite Pro A120-185 and the operating system only disk I got with it was just something to 'upgrade' disc of Vista.
I bought and paid for Windows Vista with the laptop, thus so I wouldn't have a license can I reinstall?

Please note that I am an advanced PC user, I'm not looking for ways to reduce the space that my household is good and I uninstalled everything I do not use or need.

I just want to be able to clean the laptop and reinstall Windows Vista... is it going to be possible? (I don't see why it shouldn't be because Vista came with the laptop!). Please tell me where I can get the windows disk since?

    Hi dude

Read the other discussions on this topic even here in the forum.

You didn t get this disk because you create the recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc Creator called pre-installed tool.
This was mentioned in the manual as well!

However, here you can order the recovery disk that you didn't create yourself.
