Help internet wiith does not not & light on the ethernet modem. Should I replace my card?

I hope someone can help me with a problem. I'm having with my ethernet cable.

I have a presario sr5313wm with vistahome premium 32-bit

My broadband was working fine when I left for work. When I got home, I haven't had any 'zone connction' when I run diagnois he says I have no cable. Cable ethernet light is out on my modem (2 wire model4011G). I replaced the cable and it still does not work. When you look at the Jack on the back of the computer that you connect the power cord on the Green and orange lights.

I did troubleshootig with netzero and the modem works (the laptop plugged in). They say that maybe I need a new network card.

Is there something else I should try b-4 replacement parts? I also checked on this website and found no driver updates to try for my vista.

Thanks for any help you can give

Scott,

Thanks for all your great ideas. I gave up and bought a usb wireless adapter. It worked GREAT!  My network card must not have been good. Thanks again.

  • Dell Dimension 4600 with pack 1 XP does not connect to the cable modem

Hello, I have a Dell Dimension 4600 older XP. The hard drive is dead and I replaced and then reloaded pack 1 with the intention of making all the revisions on the internet. The problem is that I cannot now connect to the internet via my broadband router directly connected to the computer. It seems that the wizard to connect only wants to use the dial upward and does not connect to the router. Just recompose. It seems to ignore the connection from the router to broadband and wants to use the dial upward only.

Go to control panel of control/Internet options/connections, then set it - never establish a connection - then click on apply.

  • Linksys Router WRT160N - Wireless does not connect to the cable modem

I installed the Linksys WRT160n router to replace an existing G router. When installed the new wireless router works, but the router does not receive a connection (IP address - look under status) of the cable modem (so no internet). When I reconnect the old router and then connect the new router, I get any internet connection through two routers (so the old dishes router the IP address that accepts the new router).

I have configured the router N new for

"Automatic configuration - DHCP", no need for connection, IP address dynamic, etc (as required by ISP - Timewarner)

I tried to renewal and release IP address by the router N when it is connected directly to the main switch (the switch to connect to the cable modem). In so doing, shouldn't that assign a new IP address to the router?

I am allowed 3 IPs from the cable company (because of the switch) and I use all three with three different internet IP cameras to each address for home security system.

Any suggestions on why the router is not connecting to the internet? Do I need to reboot physically everything on the network, including the cable modem?

If I understand your post, you said that your ISP gives you 3 Internet IP addresses and you have 3 cameras that use one of these Internet IP addresses.  If this is correct, then that leaves no IP Internet address for your WRT160N use - so that would explain why your WRT160N cannot get an Internet connection.

If I misread your post, and you have an Internet IP address available for the WRT160N, you might have a problem with your modem and two WRT160N tries to use the same 192.168.1.x subnet.  To check this, follow these steps:

    (1) Please indicate addresses that use your cameras (IE before you take the test below).  If the addresses do not begin with 192.168, then erase the last half of each address.

    (2) Please indicate your ISP

    (3) Please indicate the make and exact model of your modem (not the WRT160N) number.

    (4) Please do the following test:

Put your entire network.  Disconnect the switch (including cameras) to the modem.  Using an ethernet cable, connect your modem directly to your computer.  (Do not use the WRT160N for this test).  Turn on the modem and the computer.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection, then go ahead with what follows: (even if your Internet connection does not work, include this and move forward.)

Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig/all" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key.   Copy all results in your next post.  To make the copy, highlight the results, and then use the keys copy (Ctrl-c) and paste (Ctrl-v) keys.  If your "IP address" does not begin with 192.168, then for security reasons, delete the latter half of your IP address.

  • Screen does not light after the start, but after standby on Satellite M100

    Hello
I have some experience with computers and laptops, but this problem exhausted all of my knowledge.
My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite M100, PSMA1E. He currently works on Windows XP, SP3.
The laptop has always had problems closing/stand bye. He would stand bye and the screen would not. She would usually be manually turn off (holding the power button) and restart.

Same thing happened last week, but with me. I turned off the power button but when I turned it on the screen was completely black. After a few attempts, I realized that everything worked; I could hear the usual audio files and XP Boot, but there was no way I could get the job of the screen.

The strangest thing is that the CMOS/BIOS, one with the Toshiba logo settings screen, also does not appear. If it's an OS problem, I thought that I would be able to access the BIOS at least, but it does not work. FN + F5 does not work.

Then, strange yet something happened. I was turning it on and off with keyboard shortcuts and I realized that if I put on stand bye using shortcuts and then go back on the screen turns on perfectly well (there is a cause of adjustment resolution icons are irrelevant, but it works perfectly fine).

From that on I tried everything I know. Update the BIOS, all Windows XP updates, all Toshiba QuickFix, cleaning the registry with different tools, uninstall and reinstall the video driver (ATI Radeon X 1400) utility, shortcuts keyboard, power saver, tools hardware Toshiba, looking to start up programs, services, everything I could possibly think off.

What intrigues me is that the Toshiba start screen will not be displayed. I can't access the BIOS, but I tried to restore the standard values of the BIOS with Toshiba hardware tools. It did not work. I don't even know if reinstalling XP will work because whenever I turn it on it is all black and I have to make the stand bye / Tower on Tower.

When I have it plugged into an external monitor, I could see all starting the process (initial screen of the BIOS and Windows). I then tried to access the video driver display configuration but it would show only the external monitor. It would only detect the laptop screen after a stand bye / turn back on, and then it worked perfectly: the screen two screens simultaneously, extended, everything. Ah, changing BIOS selection automatic the LCD + external monitor does not work.

I am really puzzled here and I can't understand it. I really don't think it's a hardware problem, because the screen works 100% after the stand bye. I guess that XP is do something during the closing down that completely 'stops' my screen, even after starting, and then I can only turn it on with the thing stand bye.

Any help would be really appreciated!

    Best,

    Hi guys

I had a similar problem on a series of Satellite A200 and I could solve works to update the BIOS and update the graphics driver.
In addition, you must make sure that all available MS fixes and patches have been installed.

Unfortunately, but that's all I can suggest. If the problem persists and you would not be able to solve update components then an ASP needs to check.

    Good luck

  • My satellite phone battery does not light and the battery won't charge (rest on 2%)

Basically, my laptop is 3 months old and I don't know why it's acting weird. First of all, when I bought the laptop in June 06... the first week the laptop has no power in battery mode. So I stopped using the battery mode and still had to use my power adapter to power my laptop.

Now 4 weeks later, I removed the battery to the rear and put again. Guess what the battery started working. Now 2 months later the same problem occurs, only that this time after removing the battery to it still turn on and the battery says 2% and also fails to load.
So I m stuck with my son again... can anyone help?

    Hello

In my opinion the best solution is to confront your local dealer with this problem. If I were you I wouldn't waste time. Unit is fairly new, warranty still valid and unit should operate.

Perhaps is there some problem with electronic supply power.

  • Intermittently, Time Capsule does not connect to the cable Modem

Capsule time bought a few weeks ago.  Barely implemented.  TC does not recognize the cable modem.  These forums to get help.  Tracking the specific set of sequence with long delays between the steps and the modem and the TC.  It worked for about a month.  Now about once a day the TC works but not internet wireless or ethernet through the CT.  If I unplug the TC and let it restart and initialize internet connection returns.  During the internet cuts I have ethernet and Wi - Fi at transport CANADA, printers, and drives on the network as well as the time Capsule backup drive and your data.  If I ever lose ethernet and Wi - Fi to TB.  In addition, the modem works fine.  If I cut the TC and to the cable modem ethernet connection I have access to the internet.

Thank you.  All were huge last time assistance.

If it's always the same modem... a SB6141 of Arris... There have been a number of reports of trouble with this product with Apple routers. There is no mention that in your first post a month ago, because we wanted to see if a reset of the good modem would get things works well for you.  I had the same experience as with the same exact modem you have.

The SB6141 is a good product, and the time Capsule is as well. But for some users, these two products do not work as well together. If you call people to support for modem, they show sure to like the question time Capsule. If you call Apple, they will have a different view on things. The bottom line when you go to a support group... because it of always the other guy that you are having problems.

At this point, the only real solution would be to decide if you want to try another brand and model of modem and keep the time Capsule, or keep the modem and try another brand of router and then connect the Capsule to the router.

In my case, I replaced the SB6141 (I tried 3 different SB6141s previously because the ISP admitted having difficulties with this modem and some routers) with a 5341J Zoom, and did not have a single falling Internet connection since I installed the Zoom for more than a year. If your Internet service provider indicates that the Zoom is a product that is compatible with their service, you might want to try this modem.

But unfortunately, there is no assurance that the "solution" that has worked for me will be the solution that suits you. Such is the nature of the beast, when you work with products from two different suppliers.

    Another interesting fact:
After the reconstruction the new disk, user account control does not recognize Windows programs.
for example: execution of Perfmon.exe, the Publisher is unknown! However, when I download the program Windows FixIt, Publisher is recognized as Microsoft Windows. It seems that user account control does not recognize the Windows programs that had found the new HD, but acknowledges those who is downloaded from the internet.
I guess there is a problem with the license, Windows was preinstalled on the Toshiba and replace the hard drive could have caused a few conflicts of licensing.

  • Router WRT54G wireless does not work with the new modem

Hi, I use my router WRT54G (Firmware version v2.02.7) on 4 computers for more than four years now, without any problems at all. However, today I had to replace my old modem with a brand new modem Speedtouch from my supplier, and although I made sure each cable has been connected properly, it just doesn't.

The connection between my PC and the router (http://192.168.1.1) is good, but the problem must be between the router and the new modem. When I click on 'Status', he said: ""connection status: disconnected".

After clicking on the 'Connect' button, it tells me that it "can not connect to the PPTP serverbe"

    Help, please

    Hi Matt,

Although the resolution of this problem was a little simpler, I still thank you for your answer.

The neighbor boy came up with the following response:

«It just check the Type of Internet connection, cause you got an old type of modem before.» It will probably be set to PPTP. If this is the case, simply change it to "Automatic DHCP Configuration", click on "Save Settings" and everything should be ok then"

    And he was right!

    I am so happy
