Hey guys, I'm new here and just try to get help with this insoluble problem that I started having with my Linksys WRT54GS and Verizon FiOS last week.

To simplify my story complete and real question here, I put it all points to try to make it simpler to understand:

-In the fall of 2007, I switch from Comcast to Verizon FiOS after getting screwed on waiting for two weeks and never get a new router, that one was fried in a storm

-Little brother spills the first Actiontec router and it breaks

Actiontec wireless - replacement of the router is non-existent (MI42WR)

-After trying fill the Linksys for the Actiontec, it turns out to be a pain much more than a real solution to the lack of wireless

-Past of the coaxial cable to the full ethernet cat5 last year to use Linksys WRT54GS
-Fortunately directly connected to ONTARIO to Linksys WRT54GS via ethernet cat5 for a year while the wireless is perfect for other computers

    (last week)

-Off router Linksys for a night the week last to give him a night's rest
N ' unable to connect to Verizon with WRT54GS old or new router WRT54GL (which I'm now back)

-HAVE ethernet light outside still has a green light indicating that it is working
-Do not fill the Actiontec and Linksys again
-I don't want to go back to the use of the Actiontec for what anyone, but stuck with it for now
-A reset the router, computer connection and DHCP has published many times, but nothing helps

-A updated my WRT54GS firmware before you type this and still nothing

-No connection to any Linksys router, but the works of Actiontec

I can't think of a solution except maybe try one of another company, as D-Link... (sad face) I'm already back the new router Monday, since I don't believe that my WRT54GS is broken even if it is not connected. If I don't think that maybe Verizon has done something that is not allowing one of my Linksys routers to connect, because fortunately, they started to charge me an extra $10-12 on FiOS bill without notice. Although at this stage, I have a hard time believing that even switch to another router company and use their products will do everything for me...

Right now, I am suffering with this router Verizon terrible stock and my parents and aunt are complained about these last two weeks. I hope that someone here knows what may be the real problem that can sound with little assistance.

Ah, found the solution work for a guy who had exactly the same problem as me, but with a D-Link router.

"The best solution is to go to the ethernet connections and click Cancel, the green light on the actiontec to go yellow, unplug it in this State." Disconnect the battery power and the BBU. Put the new router in place, reconnect battery and BBU, then taken power for the new router.

Just releasing and switching router should work but if it is not these steps work. »

Thank you for at least trying to help me to abandoned.

  • Help Linksys WRT54GS

For internet acess to my XBOX in the basement, I have a router that is put in place by my computer here. It works very well for a while now, but all of a sudden it doesn't work.

I have a WRT54GS Linksys with SpeedBooster. On the left of the screen, there is only the rectangle box that you can press on, it says "Cisco Systems" above it. Instead of being gold or whatever the color used to be, it's now a silvery color.

As far as I know it is, I'm pretty sure that is supposed to be gold. I also reset it, pulled the plug and wait 10 seconds sat there and looked online for ten hours trying to find an answer.

    Help, please.

This little button is for HER (safe easy installation), once pressed it will automatically change the security settings on the router to WPA security. To turn it off or change your security you need to connect to the router, then make the changes.

    1. log on to internet browser 192.168.1.1

    2. let the emptiness of username and password - admin (default).

    3. click on the tab Wireless and you will find the option to reset security.

    4. then click the sub-tab "wireless security" and make the security changes, as necessary.

  • Please help with WRT54GS v.6 and Linux Mint 9 aka Ubuntu 10.04

I use an Asus PCE - N13 wireless adapter.  I have no problem connecting to the router on Windows XP and Win7.  However on my linux, I see the SSID, but it does not connect to it.  I check if the WPA/WP2 setting is correct and password is correct.  The router uses the latest firmware.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

If you are able to connect to the network wireless on windows computers, so I think that the router is working properly.

Make sure you have the correct network key.

Open the router configuration page. Go to the tab wireless security wireless tab. Check the wireless security settings. Go Mac Wireless filter sub Tab. Make sure that the wireless MAC address filtering is not enabled. If it is enabled, then disable the wireless MAC address filtering.

Go to advanced wireless settings void / tab Change the interval of tag to 75, RTS threshold to 2307, 2306 fragmentation threshold.

Delete the profile of the network wireless recorded from your Linux computer and retry the connection to the wireless network.

  • No wireless networks not found on laptop - the WiFi windows service does not work on this computer

    Hello

I have a laptop model Toshiba P205-56347 running Vista home premium and a lynksis WRT54G V8 router model.  The WLAN light is solid and the internet light flashes on the Linksys.  I have Comcast cable as my ISP.

I've seen reported similar problems.  All of a sudden my wirless acess stopped working, some networks are displayed and I get the message 'windows wireless service does not work on the computer.  I am not able to restart the windows wireless.  I can't connect to the internet on the laptop.  I have a DELL PC and can access the internet here if necessary.

In the network and Discovery Center, I see that network discovery is disabled.  I can't set it to on.

Under system devices, I have the following network cards: Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN and Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS6.0).

Help, please.  I'd appreciate any help.  I need a good starting point for resolution and wouldn't start using suggestions that corrects other issues.  I design financial systems and purchase online, but I'm not a technical person with regard to updates Vista, drivers, etc..

Thank you! After reviewing the responses to similar problems, can anyone suggest if I should try one of the following values: 1. run SCF/scannow at the command prompt I don't know what that's going to fix it and do not want to make the current problem worse. 2. download the driver for the network drivers. If you would be grateful if someone could help me find the driver and download it. 3 reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 since the restoration of Toshiba CD I would appreciate greatly any information. Donna

    Hi blondswede,

You can try running sfc/scannow to see if you have corrupted files. That won't be a further problem on your pc. After that, you want to make sure you have the latest drivers for your laptop, especially drivers of the NIC (network card). Go to the following link to Toshiba for your model and download those:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=SB&OS=&category=&MOID=1757721&RPN=PSPB3U&modelFilter=P205-S6347&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

If you're still having problems, and it has recently emerged as a problem, you can try to restore your system to a point in time before the problem started to use the system restore. Here are the steps to follow:

      1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
      2. In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
      3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
      4. Click Finish.

      The System Restore tool

If the problem you are experiencing started occurring recently, you can use the System Restore tool. Using this tool, you can restore the computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

  • Linksys WRT54g + WAP54g setup help

Yes I know im using a material more older, but its what I have available lol. Hoping someone can help out me. its been listen to me like hell.

play with it for a few days and I can not understand
its driving me crazy lol hope someone can help.

    Here's the Setup program.

WRT54g router is configured in A with connection Wi - Fi on.
Laptop to wireless connection point C , which lies on the opposite side of the House. so that means that it is very weak signal.

    now looks like A-C

Now, I tried to put WAP54g to the point B , so that she could get the signal to the point and he raises so that the signal can reach the point C

so, it looks like now a C-B - less is what im trying to accomplish.

the wap54g does for AP mode and I tried all the MS and cannot operate. IM missing a step, i just don't know where lol

    Access point
    The AP client
Wireless Repeater (it seemed like the obvious choice, but it does not work or I did wrong)
    Wireless Bridge

    can anyone?

    Thank you

If you are referring to my previous post, you can configure your access point in Repeater mode and router and wireless access point communicates and it will send the signal wireless to your laptop. If you want to connect the AP wired to the router then configure the AP in AP Mode.

  • Help to "problem"-WRT54G, Linux, Unix and Windows ".

I have a Linksys WRT54G rev 6, firmware version v8.00.7 011, July 27, 2009.  My ADSL modem is a modem DSL from Westell G90-610014-20 revD.  My home network is 'predominantly' Windows wireless clients and a wireless printer, who don't have no problems or issues between them.  These 2 PC can see each other, share files, print, see internet, etc.  My PDA Smart Phone connect wireless... the grand-kids PSP jumps in full and they are all happy.

Then, a few steps in my box... Multi-boot with Win7 Pro 64-bit, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop Edition 64-bit, OpenSolaris 2010.03 snv_134 and some other OS' are.  It is connected to the #2 router's ethernet port.  This PC connects to the internet very well with all OS' are.  When I start to the top of any OS "Windows" on the subject, I can see the entire network, connect, fileshare, printing, etc. Life is beautiful...

When this PC is displayed under Ubuntu, OpenSolaris or Solaris - I have internet and I can print.  I can see 'only' the router, modem and printer (and not the other PC) I can ping the router, printer and modem (not the other PC through services called) or intellectual property.  I can not connect, fileshare, etc..  In these OS' are I Samba, CIFS, Wins, etc. installed.  My windows clients cannot see my PC either, BUT I can ping and mount the fileshares to this PC via the IP (not via the designated services. If I boot one of this Windows Linux clients, this PC can see my PC with the IP address and name services.  Linux to linux, he'll see, connect, share.  I had 'other recheck my config on Samba, CIFS and wins... and nobody can find any problems there.

I see 'all' clients in the Client DHCP of the router table.  The router is dynamically assign addresses without any conflicts.  The router I ping the Linux/Unix/Windows (my) box.  It cannot ping my windows wireless clients.  All "client" devices have DHCP enabled with autoconfig.

At first I thought I had a double NAT courses so I filled the modem and the reconfig'ed my router to the router to the modem of the equation.  (Now just a stupid modem.)  Time of Internet connection are now vantastic... improved my time to download updates and upgrades and network load is down... BUT, the same problems/no change.

I turned "logging" the router, but as of yet, I have not found where those who connect so I can revisit!  I wonder if I have something to do between the wire &... but that "should" be transparent shouldn't it?  I don't know if "everything that he must have spent, or if something is filtering or stop"it "(?)"  I'm really running out of ideas on what to check, test, change... on what "might" happen.

    Help!

Thank you... 'All' went through on my desktop and my network and I was doing the wrong assumptions.  The last PC for installation on this network was my office, so I assumed that it connect to my laptop, it was a problem with the desktop computer.

What I've discovered, is that it "is" the problem of the laptop (on the contrary), somewhere in the services of the Windows Vista Home Premium network or settings, device drivers, etc..  "Is not" (or at least now) a router or hardware problem.

He kept bothers me, I couldn't ping my laptop from my PC, or my router.  I had no access to customers 'other' Windows until late last night, when I found that 'they' have connection problems and ping the laptop too!  I guess...

I started this laptop on a Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition LiveCD - and then could ping to it to both my desktop PC and my router, configuration this laptop in wireless (same device) and connect to the same wireless network.  Sort, which confirms that this is not a hardware problem on the laptop.  It confirms that it is not a router or network problem.  It narrows down my path to how 'Vista' networking services, device drivers, settings, etc. from Vista. The hunt continues, but this thread is "finished".  The problem lies elsewhere...

  • WRT54G bricks? Help, please!

I have an old Linksys WRT54G V5, it no longer works. When I plug it on I see a white Flash on the light of Cisco Systems but it disappears, the power button flashes quickly, port 1234 light is on fixed and 3 has a line above it, the demilitarized zone and the WLAN lights are turned off, I can't ping 192.168.1.1 or get any connection with it. I really want to get it fixed!

I didn't need to do that, you know sometimes it helps when you look around and discover that you are using the wrong powder adapter! LOL, the router acts as it is brick and does not have enough power to do anything. I used one that outputs 6 DC, the right of a DC of 12 outings. I feel stupid!

    Hi Tweetytewe,

This occurs on cable connections and wireless? If this happens on cable connections and wireless and your Windows installations are fine, you should contact linksys support to receive the best support.

  • Linksys WRT54GS Help - Bricked itself?

    Hello community,

I recently inherited a router Linksys WRT54GS my boyfriend hasn't needed. I kept it in storage for about 6 months because I didn't really need, but yesterday, I found that lying around and decided to go ahead and plug it in, to see if I could use it as a switch to connect my computer, Xbox and PS3. So I plug it into the wall... And it seems dead. All of the lights on the front panel are turned off. On a whim, I decided to plug it into my computer, wired and test pings. I kept getting the "Network unreachable" error, and the router was not network. However, the light on the front corresponding to the numbers 1-4 port back lit up when I plugged my computer at each port. There is no reset anything else, even after a 30-30-30. Should what steps I take now?

It is possible that the router no longer works. Have you tried to use the router when your friend gave you? If you are still not able to ping the router using its IP address standard, try setting static IP on your computer using 192.168.1.50 for the IP address and 192.168.1.1 for the default gateway. Once the IP static value, try to ping the router command and access the router page using 192.168.1.1.

  • WRT54G v3 does not establish a wireless connection - Please HELP!

My modem and wireless router both seem to be fully functional. Yet, the only way that my computer connects to the internet is if I connect directly to the router. It's as if my computer can't find the router... my SSID is sometimes only appear in the list of available network connections and when that happens, will not make a connection... How can I solve this problem? I'm not super intelligent computer, but I can follow directions well. Help, please!

Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.

Open the router setup page and go to the Wireless tab, change the name of the wireless network to create a new wireless network. Change the channel to 11. Save the settings.

Go to wireless security tab Change the WPA/WPA2 wireless security mode and enter the password of the wireless network. Save the settings.

Click the sub-tab to Wireless MAC filter and make sure that it is disabled.

Click the tab under advanced wireless settings change the tag to 75 interval, RTS threshold and fragmentation to 2304. Save the settings.

Now try to connect to the new wireless network and see if it works.

OK, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for the network card and everything seems to work now.  Thank you!
