  • Helps to remove the HP Pavilion Desktop Hard Drive

So recently I bought your desktop HP Pavilion from Best Buy a few months ago. Thing was running great until this morning, when the hard drive has suddenly decided to go belly and FRY on me. I called HP Support and they are sending me a free HD to replace the bad, but I need to remove and return them. No problem, I think I'll open the chassis out. Little I didn't know...

I really don't know who designed this thing inside, but to reach the screws to remove the hard drive is almost impossible for someone like me who has no specialized tools. I got two of the screws, but the front rear one I can barely see and even less to reach, and I don't know there's a fourth that I can't even imagine reaching. I hope someone can give me something special or a detail that I'm missing that will make this possible, if not, I am at a loss how to proceed.

Here is the info on the machine:

    HP Pavilion Media Center

    Product: KT334AA-ABA

    Model: m8530f

If it is necessary, I'll post a picture of her womb. If anyone has any info that can help me to disassemble this beast, I would be eternally grateful!

You must insert the personal media at the front of the computer player. Remove the front panel, remove the screws which fix the cage of the front's personal media players and pull the Green tab by dragging the cage in the front. You will then be able to easily remove the drive.

Do not hesitate to call HP, they will be happy to help you with the installation of the replacement drive.

    Thank you, Dmitry.

I don't think that TO_CHAR can do by itself.  You should maybe call TO_CHAR and then manipulate the output a bit.

Looks like TO_CHAR with 1 single argument does exactly what you want except when it returns a string starting with a decimal point, in which case you want to concatenate a '0'.  So call TO_CHAR with 1 argument, see if returns the string begins with a decimal point and, if so, put a '0' on it, like this:

    WITH got_str AS

    (

    SELECT n

    TO_CHAR (n) AS str

    FROM the data

    )

    SELECT n

    CASE

    WHAT LIKES str '. %'

    THEN "0". Str

    Of ANOTHER str

    END AS str0

    OF got_str

    ;

    Output:

    STR0 N

    ---------- -----------------------------------------

    0,123.123

    12345678-12345678

    12345678.1 12345678.1234

    12345678.1 12345678.123

    12.0000001 12.00000008

What do you want for greater than-1 negative numbers?  You may need to make the CASE a little more complicated expression, like this:

    WITH got_str AS

    (

    SELECT n

    TO_CHAR (n) AS str

    FROM the data

    )

    SELECT n

    CASE

    WHAT LIKES str '. %'

    THEN "0". Str

WHEN the str LIKE '. %'

    THEN '-0 "|" SUBSTR (str, 2)

    Of ANOTHER str

    END AS str0

    OF got_str

    Hello

Could you help me choose a laptop?
    It must be:
    (1) * compalible * Linux (Fedora 10/9)
    (2) rather * lite *.
    (3) Goog designed

    Sorry for my bad English.

It depends on the purpose of your laptop (eg. portability vs gaming). With respect to the components, peple might disagree with me, but I recommend to choose configurations Intel Centrino. This means that the a mobile processor from Intel, Intel Chipset, Intel Graphics and Intel wireless adapters.

The reason is that that Intel components usually work out of the box with Linux, Intel still provides open source drivers, even for the acceleration hardware 3d. Even if the yield is low compared to ATI or Nvidia.

I don't know, however, if a Toshiba laptop is the best solution. Computers laptop Toshiba have a large number of soft keys, etc. then you might be required to do a lot of tweaking.

  • the HP Pavilion Desktop 500-329 GPU upgrade

Hello! I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the GPU and the power supply of my

    HP Pavilion Desktop PC 500-329

The GPU is a GTX 960 and the PSU is a 500W EVGA power.

I read that I had to turn on legacy something with the computer with the f10 boot menu. I made this and just want to know if it's possible.

Yes, you can upgrade, simply follow the recommendations of the manufacturer of the graphics card on the connectors and the power of the power supply.

You have a PCI Express x 16 (Gen 3.0) card slot there will be plenty of choice for video cards.

    Hello

I would like to know the operating system you work with.

Method 1) when you run an .exe on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer file, the file can start another program

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950505

Method 2) in case if it does not help, you must change the associated file. To change the file association for a specific file, you must first display the properties of the file.

    1. You can view the properties of a file by selecting the file and choosing 'Properties' in the file menu. Or you can simply right-click on the file and select "Properties" from the context menu that appears.
    1. To change this file association, click the button change.
    1. You are given a list of recommended programs to open the file, as well as several other programs on your computer. The recommended programs are programs that Windows knows is going to be able to open the current file type. For this reason, choose a program from the list of recommended programs is a good idea. You can choose a program from the list of other programs, but the file cannot open.
    1. You can change this program opens all documents of a certain type of file, and then click the checkbox "Always use the selected program to open this type of file."
    1. Click OK

  • Pavilion p7 - 1266 s: Officejet 8500 has not been recognized by the HP Pavilion desktop computer

I have a desktop HP Pavilion p7 - 1266 s and a Toshiba laptop. The two are connected, wireless, a HP Officejet Pro 8500. Both are running Windows7, 64-bit.

Until yesterday, I was able to print on both computers with no problems. Today, I can only print to the Toshiba laptop. When I go to devices and printers on the desktop screen, the Officejet is gray and I cannot print. This happened once before, about a year or two ago, and I don't remember how the issue has been resolved. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi @JimCon,

I understand that you are able to print your Toshiba, but not from your HP Pavilion computer. I see that you have your 8500 wireless configuration and that when you look into the device and printers, the printer appears greyed out. I suspect deleting and re-add the printer will solve the problem, but it may be better to run printing HP and doctor Scan because it is a free utility (tool) that helps you to quickly solve or identify common printing, scanning and connectivity problems including but not limited to:

    • Connectivity:

USB: Check that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product works properly.

Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working properly.

    • Device Status Test: checks the errors of the device, such as paper, paper jams, stands transport and paper issues and provides instructions to resolve the error.

    • Driver: checks the driver missing or corrupt files.

    • Device Manager: check the problems in Device Manager that could prevent printing.

    • Device online: check if the product has been suspended or put in offline and then sets the State back in line if necessary.

    • Print queue: checks and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a newspaper for printing waiting to print).

    • Port Match: check the port settings for the HP product.

    • Device conflicts: check the conflicts with other drivers, such as the other brands of printers.

    • Ink issues: check the cartridges and the ink levels for issues that affect the print quality.

    • Print settings: check and adjust the print quality settings.

    • Test print: print a test page for the assessment of the print quality and provides options for cleaning and if necessary print head alignment.

    • Scan tests: check the scanning mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.

Source:try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows

Click here to download and run the print and Scan Doctor > > www.hp.com/go/tools

If this does not resolve the problem, after back and let me know if there are all the symbols except the Green checkmarks and what they are next of course. The key is not always easy to find the key and the box are in the green circle.

    • If you see only the Green checkmarks (), the tool did not find any problem.

    • If you see green sides (), the utility identified a problem and fix it automatically.

  • If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and requires monitoring of the user, but the step was ignored.

  • If you see a red X (), follow the onscreen instructions to fix the problem.

  • Thanks, I look forward to hearing back on your part.

    Hello

Recently I get this message as the computer freezes momentarily and then recovers.

"Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

I checked the support for Dell drivers and received conflicting results.

When I checked with the help of system analysis, it gave me a list of the 54 system-wide updates. How could it be possible?

When you use the label of my service, I got the following result:

ADMIN NOTE: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >

Don't you think that's what I use, and if yes, can you tell me who I should first put to date? Finally, what I have to uninstall the old drivers and update via the Device Manager?

Thanks in advance for your help,

54 updates is not necessary. You should only update a driver to correct a specific problem. You don't need to remove the video card driver before installing a newer version.

    * Click on download
    * The file should save on your windows desktop

I'll give the answers here about the features of game, because they are the most demanding on any laptop.

    (1) operating system
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Is not serious when it comes to games, W7 Ultimate is a waste of money, it's good if you are traveling and need to change the default language.

    (2) processor
    2nd generation Intel Quad Core i7-2720QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz

The second generation of i7 processors will be good for the games, however, stay with the 3.3 GHz Turbo.

A step down: 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.2 GHz, 6 MB L3 Cache) with Turbo boost up to 3.1 GHz
    A notch: 2nd generation Intel Quad Core i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8 MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz (+ $200.00)

    (3) graphics card
2GB (TM) Radeon HD 6770M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]

Graphics memory is not so important, but the model number is. I prefer NVIDIA on AMD as it runs more fees and the drivers are updated more frequently. Most of the HP machines use custom video drivers and they cannot be updated directly from a view of the factory. HP has done a terrible job of updating their custom drivers.

A step down: 1 GB Radeon (TM) HD 6770 M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA] ($-50,00)
Two not down: 1 GB GDDR5 Radeon (TM) HD 6490 M Graphics [HDMI, VGA] (-* 75.00)

Stick with 6770 and 1 GB of memory is good, but for only $ 50, you may as well go with the 2 GB memory.

What is the importance of the memory of a graphics card?

Not so, 1 GB is plenty for most, more serious laptops will come with more. Like I said, more the model number the better. With a laptop video card game is extensible, look for this. You cannot upgrade the video card in any HP laptop, they are soldered directly to the motherboard. Remember, however, that 99.9% of computers laptops, video cards cannot be upgraded. Too expensive.

    (4) memory
    8 GB memory (2 DIMMs) DDR3 system

8 GB is a lot, nothing more is a waste of money.

    (5) drive
1 TB 5400 RPM Hard Drive with Protection for hard drive HP ProtectSmart

A step down: 750 GB 7200 RPM hard drive HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive protection ($-80,00)

Get one with a Solid State drive and the new SATA 3 interface, make sure that the laptop can make use of the SATA 3. Ask the manufacture, but not HP, they will tell you only what you want here or they don't know. If they can't answer that question, the machine can not support SATA 3. Forget the disks of standard rotation on a portable game. They get too hot and are already obsolete.

    (6) main battery
    Battery 9 Cell Lithium-Ion

    A notch: a 6 cell and a battery 9 Cell Lithium ion ($+ 30.00)
    Two steps to the top: two 9-Cell Lithium-Ion (+ $ 60.00)

When it becomes oversized? a larger battery makes the portable warmer?

You'll be lucky if you get one hour where the game on a battery with a battery. Look for one with a system of LED backlight for more autonomy. Backlight CCFL is a thing of the past.

    (7) display
    17.3 "full HD BrightView Infinity LED (1920 x 1080)

    A step down: "17,3 HD + LED HP BrightView (1600 x 900) ($-150,00)

    Is there a difference?

    Defiantly the 1920 x 1080

    (8) primary optical drive
Drive Blu - ray & DVD SuperMulti burner

If you like to watch Blu - ray movies, then go for it. However the software and Blu - ray player can be "buggy" sometimes. May be necessary if the newest games are on Blu - ray.

    (9) customization
HP TrueVision webcam high definition with built-in digital Microphone and HP SimplePass fingerprint reader

It's yours if you want one of these things.

    (10) networking
Bluetooth (r) and Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN

    What is bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a short-range radio that connects to Bluetooth devices such as mobile phones of mouse, headphones, etc.. I like my Bluetooth wireless mouse.

Not an HP laptop for games, they are not designed for this, pure and simple. The games here section is filled with guys and their machines to overheat.

Not good for games, much too thin to keep in the fridge for a good air circulation and no i7 processor. Unfortunately, most laptops are thick, black and heavy. But you won't have you cake and eat it too. My link also has a pathetic Intel graphics card.

  • Help to choose the right product

I need help to know which version to buy. The only tool I use is the extraction tool. I'm sure on the XI trial. Should which product I buy to make this option available?

    Hi macdadii,

Acrobat Pro and Standard to extract pages from a PDF. This isn't a feature that offer with Adobe Reader or one of the services online Acrobat.com. If the extraction tool is the only thing you need, then I would recommend Acrobat Standard, so that you do not pay for features you don't no need / do not use.

  • Need help to choose the Dell server for new cluster... What are you using there?

The best host that I have is a 2950 with 16 GB and I need to buy three more ESX host to be part of the cluster of 2950.

Wwhat should I choose which would be the last and the largest and still be compatible with the 2950 for vmotion?

    Thank you!

R710 is a good choice and with EVC could be VMotion compatible with 2950 old without major problems.

If you need more CPU power to also consider R810 system.

If you need a lot of RAM check R910.

But (IMHO) the R710 is a good choice of Dell portfolio.

  • Need help to choose the correct setting in the virtual network Editor

This is my first time using machines virtual period. What I do is implementing a laboratory MCSE to follow certain CBT courses, I bought. I created a team of three virtual machines - two of them that are running WIndows Server 2003 and the other WIndows XP. The lab wants to use the following TCP/IP parameters for the three machines (Server1, Server11 and XP1)

    Server1:

    192.168 1,201

    255.255.255.0

    192.168.1.254

11 server: 192.168.1.211 (same gateway and subnet as Server1)

XP1: 192.168.1.1 (ditto for the door and the subnet as Server1)

Primary DNS is set to 192.168.1.201 (Server1 is DNS server).

Default VMWorkstation allowed me to ping both servers very well without any additional configuration. My problem is when I try to fix the DNS redirector on Server1. Any DNS server IP address that I plug in I could not get my XP box to get out of the Internet. I know it's a problem with my virtual network settings, I'm sure. Problem is I don't know where to start. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you!

    General things:

You cannot use the IP address ranges which are used somewhere else, and that the host might be able to see.

Type ' ipconfig/all' on the host and the glance to the adapter VMnet8. Suppose you see a 192.168.30.1 there. This means that your network VMnet8 address is 192.168.30.0/24 (24 =, displayed subnet mask as 255.255.255.0).

Your DNS and gateway for virtual systems would be 192.168.30.2.

You can check this in the editor of virtual network on the NAT tab.

To change the range of network addresses VMnet8 you must use the virtual network Editor.

    1. go on 'host Virtual Network Mapping.

    2. click on the ">" beside VMnet8 and choose "subnet".

    3. change address you need. It's the network address, so the last digit (in your case!) should be 0. The address range should not be used elsewhere (physical network, VMnet1).

    4. click on 'apply '.

    5. When you click on the ">" again and choose DHCP or NAT you can see that all addresses have been changed accordingly.

When you enter ' ipconfig/all' to the host, you will see that the VMnet8 host adapter has an IP address of your selected range with 1 node address (e.g. 192.168.1.1).

The gateway and the DNS so its node address + 1 (192.168.1.2).
