Help please! Buddy's computer will start

My boyfriend is out of town and I was using his computer Compaq Presario V5000.  I went to answer a phone call and instead of shutting down the computer, I simply closed the lid, which normally into hibernation system until the lid is reopened and it starts up.  This time; However, when I open the cover, it makes a noise like it's going to start up and the power button lights up, so I don't know it is powered, but then nothing happens after that.  I had a few occasions where it has been slow to start after the cover was closed, but after a few seconds, the blue wireless light would flash and the system would start up.  This time it's right there and I hear the rotating CD drive from time to time, but nothing happens on the screen.

I tried the HP troubleshooting tips and I reinstalled the memory and even tried to remove the CD-Rom drive and replace it, but I keep getting the same results!  I'm desperate to try to get this resolved before he returns to the city... I won't be responsible for it's broken! Even if I swear that I have nothing to him...

Help, please!

Any time...

Sorry for the acronyms... NB is portable.

No matter what model over two years is not worth fixing... data can be transferred from the hard drive disk (or HARD drive) on the new computer and with prices so low these days and a longer warranty on top, for the same price... Yes, you can get a much better system.

The system has had more problems that what you posted... only it is reached a final point.  Just a coincidence that it happened when you were using it as you have always had.

With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig.

Make sure you have enough disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video cards.

I turned the computer off, then restarted when prompted chose to start windows normally, and it seems to start up fine.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

If this is the first time, you've seen this error, I'm not too concerned about it. There are not too many people who have not encountered this scenario occasionally.

The time to worry, if it happens regularly, as this may indicate a component defective that will need to be diagnosed later.

On this occasion, I suspect that the start process has detected an anomaly any (possibly a play on hard drive control) and rather than allow Windows to continue it stopped with the error on blue screen.

    Kind regards

Have you recently added any hardware? Have you updated a driver just before
These began? (Check control panel - updates of Windows to see if all drivers

pilot, other great drivers, memory and antivirus/antispyware/security products

Important info if you received a STOP Code

If you received a blue error screen, or a stop code, the computer stopped abruptly to protect against data loss. A hardware device, its driver or software might have caused this error. If your copy of Windows is shipped with your computer, contact your computer manufacturer. If you have purchased
Windows separately from your computer, Microsoft provides support. To find contact information for Microsoft or the manufacturer of your computer, Contact Support.

If you have experience with computers and try to recover from this error, follow the steps in the Microsoft article solution STOP (blue screen) errors in Windows.

These actions could prevent a mistake like this does not happen:

    1. Download and install updates for your computer from Windows Update device drivers.
    2. Scan your computer for computer viruses.
    3. Check your hard drive for errors.

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA parameters

The following settings are displayed on the blue screen.

    Parameter Description

    1

    The referenced memory address

    2

    0: Read operation

    1: Write operation

    3

Address that referenced memory (if known)

    4

    Reserved

If the driver responsible for the error can be identified, its name is printed on the blue screen and stored in memory location (PUNICODE_STRING) KiBugCheckDriver.

    Cause

Bug control 0 x 50 usually occurs after the installation of a faulty hardware or installation failure of material (usually associated with defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM or RAM video cache).

Another common cause is a defective system service installation.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

    Resolution

    Fix a defective hardware problem:
if the material has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if the error recurs. If the hardware failure existing, remove or replace the faulty component. You must run the diagnostics of material provided by the manufacturer of the system. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.

    Fix a defective system service:
disable the service and confirm that this resolves the error. If so, contact the manufacturer of the system service on a possible update. If the error occurs during the system startup, restart your computer, and then press F8 to menu mode characters that displays the choice of operating system. In the Windows Advanced Options menu that results, select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.

    A problem of antivirus software:
disable the program and confirm that this resolves the error. If this is the case, contact the manufacturer of the program about a possible update.

    Fix a corrupted NTFS volume:
run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and repair disk errors. You must reboot the system before the start of the analysis of disk on a system partition. If the SCSI hard disk, check the problems between the SCSI controller and the drive.

Finally, check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help determine the device or driver that generated the error. Disable the cache in memory of the BIOS might also resolve it.

    Remarks

In general, this address is in the released memory or simply not valid.

Vista Ultimate x 64.  Intel core I7.  When I boot in safe mode (minimum), the computer will start up nicely, when I boot 'Normal' it does not completely load.  Freezes in the status bar.  Using MSConfig to disable everything starts all services it let me and it still freezes during normal startup.

Automatic recovery of start-up believes that everything is ok.

Safe mode with network freezes as well.
