  I worked on the machine to get to start XP. Sometimes it will boot in Safe Mode, but most of the time (and when it does not start in 'normal' mode), it crashes with a blue screen. The blue screen flashes fast to read, and then the machine tries to restart.
  Once I do start safe mode and got WIndows update but can't update due to the update that needs to be in normal mode.
  I was able to install Malwarebytes and a full scan. Also installed Spybot S & D and performed a full scan.

  When it does not start in normal mode it is slow, very slow. I tried rkill and it causes the machine down.

  It starts in normal mode today, but it crashed before I can get open IE and go to the windows update.

• HP Pavilion 15 laptop: Need help, PC laptop HP Pavilion 15 could not boot from USB external hard drive.

  My desktop HP Pavilion P7-1074 4.5 years computer dropped last week. Planed to get a replacement on Black Friday or the day after Christmas. But I have to run some programs inside hard drve to the desktop computer. So I have attatched hard disk dive from my desktop to my laptop HP Pavilion 15 USB port with an enclosure.

  The laptop would recognize the external hard drive as a SYSTEM (F 62.2 MB of free space of 97.9 MB, OS (GTB-free 1.11 of 1.35 TB and HP_RECOVERY (H 1.33 GB free of 11.0 GB.))) But I couldn't find the program I want to run.

  I went into the BIOS to set the boot order to boot from USB first, but I could not get the result I expected. The laptop still start on its own hard drive. I tried all three USB ports, no one works.

  First of all, programs of a different version or windows session will not work on another computer as it was installed on the computer of origin at this time.   I have a Sony Vaio Y Series in which I installed a pirated Windows and also improved version at 10. After these two cases, my laptop has become very slow and can barely use it.   If I buy an original Windows of any of the online sites, it'll work, or must it be model specific?

  If so, what was the outcome of the steps. Sound does not imply that the sound card drivers is not correct. Like you said it is not related to the applications and the system does not work as well, I think that the drivers went wrong. Please, try the procedure described in the article and we update with the results.

  In addition, as a test, put the computer in a clean boot state and then check if it helps. You can start
  Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  because the sound works certain programs or services may block sound a few minutes and the issue seems to happen. Test the issue in a clean boot state to confirm.

  Maybe you have a recovery partition.

  Pressing F10 or F11 key when you turn on your system can put you in a recovery partition.
