help with bios/ram

Hi all

the story is as follows:

I have a HP a1555a desktop computer. If it was repaired by HP, they replaced the motherboard. Twice in fact, first replacement was defective also.

Now when I go into the bios it says the following: revision of the Bios: 3.24 18/01/07

Basic verion: 08.00.12

Model number: (nothing - blank)

Product number: Asteropi

Build IDS: NULL

before you have my correct model number, product ID numbers and build now. Also, I can not use hp update because it does not recognize the model as HP.

The above is without real drama, except that I put in an additional stick of RAM and he does not notice the second Bank. It only recognizes the first bank or ram, which was installed by hp. In the bios it's all gray and I seem to think that it is a bios issue that caused the above questions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and yes my ram is ok.

Is it possible to erase the bios completely? and start again.

Thanks in advance ~!

Try to take the CMOS battery, clear the CMOS jumpers on your motherboard, and finally try retting your BIOS settings in the BIOS.

    Hello, I recently got a "pny nvidia geforce gtx 750 1 GB ddr5' and I tried to install it and I heard a sound of beeping 3 times and got a black screen, indicating the model number of gpu and I went on the web to see solutions. I tried many of them but two, one is to buy a new motherboard and other is install the latest driver for bios. I had no money, so I went with a bios update. As I tried to update I got an error message "253" Please help. my pc specs "hp Pavilion slimline 1224, UC-i3-3240 upgraded, gpu no, 1 TB hdd, 6 GB of ram."

    When you request support, please provide the full model name and product number (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

    The information requested above are on the side, back or bottom of your computer, or on the BIOS boot screen. Please see How can I find my model number or product number? for help more to find this information. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the product/model information consumer HP Online Support page and post it here for our review.

    Assuming that you mean that you have a desktop HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1224, there is no update BIOS in the WIndows 7 section of the page of drivers of desktop HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1224. The error you get indicates that the update is not for the version of the BIOS of motherboard and base of your computer.

    Again, it is likely that the video cards, you tried are incompatible with the motherboard of your computer. In addition, power supply factory is only rated at 220 watts and is unlikely to properly feed a 750 GTX graphics card that requires power system rated at 400 watts or greater.

  • Portege Z835 - need help with BIOS update

    Hello.

    I have a Portege Z835, with a battery problem: do not load. The battery indicator says "3% connected load" but it doesn't load the battery.

    Some forums said that the solution is updating the Bios. I have a Bios Update v.1.60 ready to install. When I try to install, we get the message "the battery power is not enough.

    My power cord is still connected. If I unplug the power cord, the laptop is turned off.

    Please, what can I do?

    Thank you.

    F.

    To be honest I don't think it's the related issue of the BIOS. AFAIK battery must be charged, even if the laptop is turned OFF so why BIOS update if the battery can not be charged at all.

    To me that sounds like hardware related issue.

    How old is your Portege?
    Warranty is still valid?

    Maybe you should contact Toshiba service and ask for help or even their opinion.

  • Need help with BIOS on my Satellite L40

    Hi all

    guys I have two problems with my BIOS:

    1st. as my portable computer power does not start anything, or nothing works
    (even no sound of the fan or anything like that, no seeing covers but the power, battery covers)
    (it happened before two weeks they said that they have updated the bios)
    (it happens when my laptop is a download online or something and is running out of battery in the two times)

    2nd when it was working I could not adjust the brightness of the screen, or apply the power saving options

    So please tell me if I can reset or update my BIOS in material and how
    I use PSL4CE, Vista operating system.

    If I understand this problem started after the BIOS update. Maybe you used a bad BIOS or something went wrong during the BIOS update process.
    But wait; try to remove the battery and the AC adapter. Wait for about 20-30 min. After this short period of time connect the two parts, and try to start Notepad.

    > So please tell me if I can reset or update my BIOS in material and how
    If the accelerated procedure described above help doesn t, then you have some many other opportunities. In case you should contact the ASP in your country and should ask for the BIOS flash may be that you're a lucky guy and the mobo is not too bad!

    Ive been trying for weeks to fix the bios on acer aspire 5553 with no luck, I have no idea how find name to rename the bios file.
    Does anyone know what I need to change the bios file too?

    OS: Windows 8

    Hi Lucie,.

    Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue.

    • You did changes to the computer before this problem?

    • Which is exactly the problem that you are facing with the BIOS?

    I want to let you know that Basic Input - Output System (BIOS a computer) is software shipped on a motherboard. It is the first software that PC charge so that he could use things like CD players, mice and keyboards almost from the moment that you turn it on.

    Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    According to the Acer site, this computer model has no drivers for Windows 8. Click here to learn more.

  • Pavilion 15: Help with BIOS?

    I have a HP Pavilion 15 I've upgraded to Windows 10 fairly recently, and I put about to disable function keys shortcuts so that they can be used in games.  Not sure how to do this, I searched and I was told that I had to open the BIOS at startup and change the settings there.  I know how to do it on Windows 7 but it doesn't seem to be a way to open the BIOS at startup with windows 10.  Could someone tell me how to access the BIOS, or how to disable shortcuts the function in a different way?

    Hello

    You should be able to access the Bios Menu as follows.

    Shut down the laptop.

    Click next to the ESC key as soon as you start Notepad to open the Start Menu, then choose f10 to open the Bios Menu.

    You can then change the default action as stated in the document on the following link.

    Dear community, I have a HP Elitebook 8730w and I forgot the BIOS password. I tried everything I could remember, I slept several days above to remind him, but I'm lost. Need help with windows defender. all my files folders pictures everythiing disappeared and I find myself with this black screen and it is not all good: o)

    I don't know why vista windows no longer charge, or when the files and folders disappeared

    How Windows Defender is on this problem?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Data recovery:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
  • Help with passage of Win 7 Home Prem/32 bit to something with memory?
    Please someone help me.  I want to upgrade from Windows 7/32 Home Prem - for everything that is available to help with problems of memory?
    I'm certainly not warned and need help.  Can not get the new computer and need to save it.  Thank you, E
    First run Memtest86 +:
    It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory
    sticks are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
    Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), if no errors at that time then your ram is OK.
    Memtest86 + Guide/How To (use the.) ISO to create a bootable CD)
    Then check how much memory your computer supports:
