Not while you're still editing the project.  When you have completed the project and shared it and are sure that you do not want to do any editing more far, you can delete the whole project.

If you do a significant amount of iMovie editing you really need to put your libray (ies) on a large external hard drive.  Another thing you can do is to divide your work between different libraries and move those that are not currently on a removable drive.

    Hello

Run DiskCleanup - start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

You may want to transfer some data, images or documents on removable media
as the key USB, USB external drives (my choice) or even CD/DVD (to several
If the use of these copies).

Programs that are not part of Windows can be uninstalled and then reinstalled in other players
or partitions such as office, games and others. Of course, you can have some programs
installed that you don't need at all. If you are unsure about the programs ask in a separate
    the message in these forums.

Make sure you have the product or any other information of activation keys so that you can properly
Re-install all programs before uninstalling them. If you need additional help check with
    program support and/or forums.

  • Free up space on my hard drive.

My computer has really slowed down.  I went in 'My computer', select the C: drive and right-click on it to see how much free space, I had.  I have only 44 GB of 178 GB free.  However, when I type 'Explorer', which lists all files and programs on the C: drive, theyt add up to 134 GB that are what I've exhausted (178 total minus free 44).

I have added all the files/programs and they came to 58 GB... away from the space used 134 my C: drive said he has exhausted.

I did something wrong?  Where is the rest of ' space '?

I need to free up my hard drive, but how can I if I can't find where the bulk of the space is in use?

    Thank you!

    Hello

44 GB is still a lot of free space.

Space used by Windows, programs, and even data that are not properly
included in your control. Try to use the utilities below to check usage.

You may want to transfer some data, images or documents on removable media like USB keys,
External USB (my choice) or even CD/DVD readers (make multiple copies if the use of these).

  • I am constantly be careful of low disk space how do I free up space on my hard drive without taking it to a pc repair guy?

    question title

What is your drive and how it is partitioned. What are the sizes of the partitions? Select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management for this information.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter. Open Disk Defragmenter and click analysis. Select view report, and then click Save as and save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents folder. Open the file and place the cursor anywhere in the file and choose Edit, select all. Right click, select copy and paste into a new message here.

You are using Outlook Express and Internet Explorer? If you are using another browser please let know us the name.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before the error occurred initially do not use this option.

If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner but note that cCleaner will not manage system restore points. Remove the old restore points can be important if you have little free disk space. cCleaner comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

  • eat my comuter tofactory settings to free up space on my hard drive

my count is e xp machines

my count is e xp machines

You ask a question XP into a Vista forum. It's really off-topic here, but because the version of Windows isn't really important, I'll answer.

Yes, it will free up the space. But two points:

    1. it deletes everything on your hard disk, and then puts new Windows. So, be aware that you lose all your data files and installed programs, so make sure you have made a backup of all the data files that are important for you and also be sure to have the media for all programs that you have installed; the programs will need to be reinstalled.

    2. If you are short on disk space, it's a bad way to free up space, for two reasons:

    a. After you reinstall your programs and reload your data backups you can be again short of space.

    (b) even if you are not still short of space, you probably will be soon. The only real solution to the

problem is to buy a larger capacity drive or a second drive.

  • Try to free up space on a hard drive in the red.

I have Vista Home Premium.  I have a 240 GB hard drive.  A very large part is occupied by 2 files, 81,0 concert a piece.  I took a lot of photos and music out of this player and all unused programs.  These backup files is so great? I doubt I have 81,0 gig of programmes across by car.  A way to safely remove?  {The files are as follows: C:\N360_BACK\{A3BB98C1-B6DA-43C9-8ECD-4DA5BFC7A8E5}.    C:\N360_BACK\DRIVE_C.     There is also the file that appears to be a normal backup file of meg 2 named backup.@db in the same folder.   These files were created in 2007 and 2008.

If there is no FREE program would you recommend for this type of operation?  Please notify.

Thanks to all the help, I cleaned up my hard drive.  It turned out to be crazy backup of the two Norton became old files.

Because you guys are frappeurs.1000 let me ask another question.  When I followed your steps above I go a step further and trying to do a disk defrag.  He would never start.  I even tried to schedule one for later, but it would never start.  I don't know if it's related but I also tried to look at all my start up programs to thin them down to the must have.  It would allow me to end with some, but not others, as the case wouldn't let me do anything.  His action as an Adminstrative thing but I am logged in as admin.   Virus, spyware, adware... etc?

  • on my iCloud drive files take up space on my hard drive?

I'm always running out of space on the hard drive of my MacBook Pro. The most important issue seems to be the library and Documents Mobile is the largest. But when I look inside I find the name of the folder as if by magic going on MacBook Pro / My Files / Library / Mobile Documents for MacBook Pro / My Files / library / iCloud Drive.  I thought that the purpose of paying extra for space on my iCloud drive should free up space on my hard drive.

iCloud is a synchronization system, not an external 'hard drive '. If you delete them from your computer, they will delete icloud.

  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore this issue is close to 100 GB. I have no space on my hard drive. Yet on my other pc, this folder is empty.

Hello.  I have 2 pc.s. both with vista home premium installed. they do not have the same programs installed. the path of the problem folder is the following. C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. on my laptop, this folder is absolutely empty. on the desktop the virtualstore folder is big close to 100 GB. that totally filled my hard drive. is it possible to disable this folder safely, so I can free up space on my hard drive

    Hello, maveric8673

    Do you recognize the files?
If there are files that you saved in a specific program in the folder?

It is usually more old programs will try to save files / settings to a location requiring the administration of rights which translates the writing files in the folder Windows virtualstore. A marker is also created so that if the program accesses this file again, it will point to the file in the virtualstore folder. If you use an older or not designed for Vista program and its economy at this place, try to update the program.

According to the files, removing items from the folder may affect programs, but yes, you should remove them manually.

  • Should I delete catalogs old or empty space on the hard drive?

Somehow, I found myself with three catalogs in LR 4 - Catalog.lrcat, catalog - 2.lrcat and catalog - 3.lrcat.   My LR3 original catalogue was Catalog.lrcat.  When I upgraded to LR4, catalog - 2.lrcat was created, and this is a catalog that I use.  I don't know how the catalogue-3 was created, but all images are grayed out and have question marks on them.

I want to free up space on my hard drive by getting rid of - removal-(104MB) catalogue and catalogue-3 (103MB).  This is not recommended?  And exactly how can I do to remove a catalog?

That's what I had in mind.

  • Free space on my hard drive has all of a sudden diminishedfrom 50% to 10%, what happened?

Free space on my hard drive has suddenly (within a week) has declined from 50% to 10%. I used disk cleanup and defragmentation - but it did not help.

    Hi williamvmcb,

Welcome to the Microsoft community. According to the problem description of free space on the hard drive is reduced by itself.

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Run the disk check to check for possible errors.

Check your hard drive for errors

Note: If bad sectors are found in the hard drive, then it could try to repair. If you have any data on that, it can get lost.

Method 2: Performs a search using the Microsoft safety scanner.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need more assistance.

    Thank you.
