Hibernation and standby options disappeared.

Hello

I use Windows XP and use Hibernate quite frequently. However, the options to Hibernate and the day before have suddenly started appearing in gray when I click Start => stop the computer. In the Power Options, it hibernates tab also. Tried the system restore to previous dates, but without success. Pls help.

Thanx, Sunil.

Who's going to do...  I wonder why nothing appears in Device Manager however, but maybe it's a secret of Toshiba.

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

I searched the support section of the Toshiba www U.K version and didn't see exactly U200 for XP video drivers (they seem to be all Windows 7y), but there are some other set of questions that I can't understand the answer to... but you know since you have in front of you.

Here is the link to their support get you started:

http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/

I've hoped to find exactly what you need, but do not see it.

I see him have a community of support online too, so if you can't find what you need, I have a question where the gurus of Toshiba probably spend time, and you can ask them why you don't see anything in the Device Manager.

Tried to determine if support system put into hibernation using the command instructions powercfg / has.  He said hibernation is not supported.  But the system used to support the hibernation before the swap disk.  The only material that I've changed is the hard drive.  Any ideas what has changed and how do I get hibenation/standby?  Thanks in advance.   Steve :-)

When you replaced your hard drive you reinstall your video driver? Check your device for red or yellow symbol Manager. You could be on the VGA mode. If you need to install the driver go to the manufacturer's Web site and download the latest version of the Vista-specific driver.

The same notebook here! Can you please tell me what display driver you have installed? I tried to install Windows XP Home edition on mine a few months ago, but I wasn't able to find the right display driver.

    Hello CHRISTAPOLKINHORN,

Thanks for the return of the response.  Disable you the ability of the USB device to wake the computer?  You have all the USB devices connected to your computer?

    Please let us know status.

    1. Click Start

      Collapse this includes this image

right click on computerand then click Manage.

    2. In the user account control dialog box, click continue.
      Collapse this includes this image

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    3. Click on Device Manager, expand Bus USB controllers, right click on the device, and then click Properties.
    4. Click the power management tab, clear the allow this device to wake the computer check box, and then click OK.

Note We recommend that you use the first solution because it preserves the wake functionality. When you use the second workaround, USB devices cannot wake the computer. In addition, the power button on remote control for an IR of Windows Media Center Receiver cannot wake the computer.

Please help me with this problem

    @Vashu23

These pages can help with your sleep/hibernation problems, the first is HP and the second is to WindowsEightForums:

Sleep and Hibernate in Windows 8, issues troubleshooting

Power Menu Options - Add or remove a standby or Hibernate in Windows 8

Also, here are a few tweaks that you can watch in windows 8, which can be useful for performance.

Set the performance of the slow system (Windows 8)

Also you can watch latency spikes. Essentially, it is an application, driver, or a combination that will push the CPU to its limits and so your system will have spikes where the transformer is overloaded. Requests will be have lag or stop responding, audio or video will pause or break up.

I found the following page on Sysnative that addresses this problem very well, with lots of graphics and links to Microsoft support pages. It will help you to isolate the cause.

If you need a tool to check latency, you can get one from TheSycon here page:
