  If the disks provided with the computer, normally you don't have a recovery Partition.

  Makers you give one or the other.

  There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

  There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

  You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

  They should do this for a small fee.

  IF you have a recovery partition:

  The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

  Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc. according to the manufacturer.

  Ask them to the proper key sequence.

  You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

  Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

  And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  Ive had a Toshiba Satellite laptop running XP 4.5 years and its great summer running.

  My grandmother got a Toshiba Satellite that is about 1.5 years with record better than mine. Its running Vista and its performance is pathetic. Liked a lot my laptop performs so much better and faster cela. I've restored the operating system. This is not enough.

  So now I want to install XP on the laptop using my recovery disk

  So first of all, I need to format the hard drive. When I hold the power button to power off, then zero holding, and put on I reached recovery utility. From there, I can choose Reset "out-of-box", or I can format it.

  My question is, if I choose the format, it will properly format the computer allowing me to run my recovery disk and reformatted it the hidden partition containing system restore information? I suppose not, but I would be sure

  As far as I know the recovery disc formats the entire HARD disk.

  This means that all data and all partitions will be erased from the HARD drive.
  After that, the recovery disk would begin a process that would create partitions (also the one hidden) that have been created as on the first day of purchase.

  Simply says that the laptop would be fixed to the factory settings.

  Yes this is normal. For this former model for computer laptop Toshiba didn't create recovery partition. Satellite M70 comes with recovery DVDs.

  New laptop models are supplied without recovery DVD media, but with recovery image saved on the second partition and each owner of the laptop can create CD/DVD recovery only.

  You cannot back up this partition and use it later for the installation of the OS. Access to this partition, you can do if your laptop is only factory settings.

  What you need to do is create recovery DVDs. This recovery DVD, you can use for recovery image installation if something goes wrong. For the creation of recovery disks I recommend you to use only DVD-R media.

  The Windows.old folder has two objectives:
  (1) can be used to uninstall Windows 7 and return your PC to the previous version of Windows.
  (2) contains a backup of all your files of data, documents, photos, Etc. from the previous version of Windows.

  If you don't need either of these two options can delete the Windows.old folder. In your case if you can access the "recovery Partition" to restore the windows and then back the Windows.old folder before you begin.

  Note: Option to change Windows Explorer to see the Windows.old folder:
  Click on start and enter in the box "Search": "hidden" (without the quotes)
  Click on the "Show the hidden files and folders" option at the top of the list.
  In the "Folder Options" window
  Click the 'view' if it is not already selected.
  In the list "Advanced settings" locate "hidden files and folders".
  Now click 'show files and folders '.
  Then, disable the following:
  "Hide empty drives in the computer folder.
  "Hide the extensions of the file types that you want to know."
  "Hide protected operating system files"

  Location: Try to update Windows Vista SP1 my computer hung up.  After a cold reboot, I got a BSoD (blue screen of death) with the error 0x0000C1F5 code.

  Current problem: whenever I try to boot Vista I get the same error during the vista loading screen.

  I tried the safe mode, the last correct log on the thing, and even a system restore disc that I downloaded from PC World.

  None of these online solutions have worked.

• Recovery disk restore partitions as factory settings?

  My laptop is about 2 to 3 years of age and has 3 partitions, C, D and E as factory put in place.
  I found that the system (C) partition is now almost full and cannot be extended because the D drive is in the way to rehabilitate the part of drive E.

  Does anyone know if the hot spare will restore the partitions in the form of factory settings or y at - it an option to change the score put in place during installation?

  Yes. As far as I know the Toshiba Recovery disk format the whole HARD drive and retrieves the laptop back to factory settings.
  This means that the whole HARD disk would have first formatted and all partitions would be deleted. Then the recovery disk creates the partitions again and installs the operating system and other things like tools and drivers.

• Creating a DVD from HP restore Partition of hard disk

  OK, let's go.  We have three computers in this House.   One is an HP 2004 775th with XP that was suggested be sent to pasture.   I agree to this.  My other computer is a HP Pavilion p6750f with Win 7 Home 2011.  Large computer and has no problem.  I want to keep this PC by business unit and buy a refurbished on ebay as a HP Compaq 8000 with Win 7 Pro 64 bit.  This should be Uncategorized at 10 for Microsoft Windows gives the OK.

  The majority of these 8000 HP on ebay have the disk hard 'original' wiped and reinstalled with new Windows 7 Pro 64-bit software.   Some say that the hard drive has the "restore disk partition hard rule."

  Now the big question.   With original Windows 7 Pro 64-bit clean wiped from the HD and a new install of Win. 7, I'll be able to make a DVD-restore/recovery Partition on the hard drive?

  That question seems to be is "I'll be able to make my own recovery DVDs?"  As shown in This DOCUMENT?  The answer is probably not.  Unless the previous owner includes the recovery of the purchase value.  These units are most likely end the lease to a company, which means that they are erased clean from any software that may have been installed.  The inclusion of an operating system is to facilitate the resale.

  I received a Satellite C660 difficulty that not recover. Can I use F8 (or 0) to enter "REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER", but the screen goes all black. I booted from a Linux disk and partition 'Data' seems OK though I have no way to check all the files. What are my options? Is it possible to create discs of restoration of this State?

  Well, in that case try to access the recovery partition of HDD (using Linux?) and check if you can use the recovery image files to create recovery USB flash stick as described here:

  (4) Windows 7 is the only OS (so far) that we are able to install; We have no other disks, but Windows 8.1, I think, was the original Opperating system and look forward to this return.

  What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media.  It is a DVD and CD set that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

  Yes once more be using xp, if you use the recovery partition... If you want to use vista install when you want... but before to do that are doing better on the current recovery CD system coz in the future if you want to go back to xp you can use xp again

  After vista installation that contains the vista recovery partition do so to better the recovery dvd set of said so!

I have a laptop HP 2000-365DX with Windows 7 Home Premium.   Its so crowded and I need to restore back to original settings.  I had installed Ubuntu (partitioned) all the time and has been very stupid, because I deleted my partition recovery HP tools.  Now, I searched here on HP.com to order a recovery disc and apparently I can't find one for my specific model.  So what I have done is downloaded a file .iso Windows 7 Home Premium (with a good soul on these forums) and I need to download all the drivers for my laptop as well but HP is having some problems now so I can't download them (which is fine that I'm in no hurry).  So, that's all as far as my knowledge goes.  I have my Win7 disc and hopefully soon have my drivers disk.  What I do not know how, it's clear my computer to start from zero Setup Win7 again then all my drivers.  I read that DBAN (Darik Boot and Nuke) erases your hard drive clean, but that seems very extreme.  Looks like I would use to wipe my drive hard if I had to sell my laptop or to erase the evidence, but if that's my solution I'm cool with that.  So, really, I'm wandering what I should do now.  And I really re - install my drivers as well?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  You can delete all existing partitions on the HARD disk during installation, as follows.

  Start the installation.

  When you get to the screen 'What type on installation', choose the custom (Advanced) option, and then click drive options (Advanced).

  Here you can delete all existing partitions at a time by clicking on the partition to highlight it and then click Remove.

  A when you're finished, you'll have just one entry named not 'allocated space' - just proceed with the installation.
